    Three-Tier High-Performance Computing Environment - Baker Hughes

    Get PDF
The Baker Hughes high-performance computing environment is deploying a three-tier approach to providing technical computing resources as an alternative to typical high-performance computing. Baker Hughes uses a complete spectrum of computer resources that break from the standards of high-density, dedicated resources. This environment is intended to provide a more flexible and efficient approach that is responsive to business needs. The design has been proven in production systems in the United States and the Russian Federation since the second quarter of 2010 with multiple proprietary and in-house scientific applications. This paper will discuss a computing infrastructure that Baker Hughes has built to better adapt to meet changing requirements in high-performance computing

    Socio-gnoseological Issues of Alienation in G. S. Batishchev's Works

In this article, the authors have introduced the gynecological analyses of the category of alienation, the problem of self-knowledge and the ways of its scientific understanding in G.S. Batishchev's works. This time, the authors state that the problem of alienation of personality in modern world is connected with not only just deprivation of attention, but it is also the result of the increased alienation and social problems. The authors have analyzed a number of social relationships, such as social-organic, atomistic, each of which can be further divided into two more classes: utilitarian and pluralistic, polyphonic or harmonic. These classes of relationships are important for understanding of the subject and object, and their interrelations. A particular attention has been paid to social polyphonic ties, which facilitate the advancement of the individual and humanity towards the overcoming of alienation. In addition, the authors have focused their attention on the role of creative activities in the development of social relations. The analyses of relationships described in the works of G.S. Batishchev embark on the way of overcoming of alienation of personality

The paper considers the problem of the Siberian region general crisis of the 1917 spring. The internal and external contradictions of the transformation process of socio-economic and political relations in Siberia are examined in terms of the post-February all-Russian revolutionary crisis development. The understanding of the socio-political Russian crisis in the spring of 1917, emerging after the February political coup, is essential in studying the revolutionary соnversion process of the early twentieth century Russian society, as this crisis has generally become the turning point in the country's history and objectively led to the October political coup. The Russian revolutionary crisis constituents, its foreign and domestic manifestations require careful investigation in the issue formulation presented in the paper. The development specifics of the revolutionary crisis in the spring of 1917 in the trans-Uralian agricultural colony of the Russian Empire is of scientific interest, as well as the finding of its anti-crisis development scenarios in the paper presented period. The development of the nationwide crisis in Russia in the early twentieth century, due to the complex and contradictory processes of Russian society modernization in completing the industrial civilization and transition to the imperialist development stage, was complicated by the "Siberian historical issues" in the Siberian region. A set of these issues include the incompleteness of the regional peasantry land management, the contradictions between the old peasantry and Stolypin migrants, and also between the peasantry and the privileged regional Cossacks, the agricultural products export problems from Siberia to domestic and foreign markets, or marketing crisis, the contradictions between the regional and metropolis bourgeoisie, or the issue of the Siberians economic inequality, the local industry underdevelopment and the complete dependence of the local population on the factory products supplying from European Russia, or supply crisis, the lack of a country council, or the administrative inequality of Siberia as a colony and metropolis, etc. During the First World War, these problems worsened and led Siberia to a revolutionary situation. Started in Russia in February 1917, the revolution was an attempt to solve the "Siberian historical issues" personally by the regional population, whose social activity ultimately led to an acute socio-political crisis of Siberia, which became a part of the national post-February revolutionary crisis.Π’ ΡΡ‚Π°Ρ‚ΡŒΠ΅ прСдставлСна ΠΏΡ€ΠΎΠ±Π»Π΅ΠΌΠ° ΠΎΠ±Ρ‰Π΅Π³ΠΎ кризиса Π‘ΠΈΠ±ΠΈΡ€ΠΈ вСсны 1917 Π³ΠΎΠ΄Π°. The article examines the problems of the transition of modern Russia towards the formation of an innovative economy, with a special emphasis on the investigation of the key challenges that Russian universities face while training engineers equipped for innovative activities. The paper considers the impact of cultural characteristics of the Russian society on the organization and content of an education process in a technical university, on β€œproducing” engineers capable of developing innovation. In our analysis we use a comparative approach, as well as the outcomes of the etnometric studies based on the method by G. Hofstede. The study presents the comparative analysis of the organization and content of engineering training at two universities representing Russia and the United States. The results of the study show that further productive development of the Russian system of engineering education towards integration with Western systems is possible provided that the value orientation of the Russian state and society is significantly revised

Effect of the anisotropy of monocrystalline silicon mechanical properties on the dynamic characteristics of a micromechanical gyroscope

    Get PDF
The aim of the research was to determine the effect of temperature on mechanical properties of a micromechanical gyroscope with the sensing element mounted on a silicon wafer, with the crystallographic orientation of (100) (110) (111). The research is of current relevancy since the metrological characteristics that depend on the eigenfrequencies over the full temperature range are to be controlled. The temperature-modal analysis of the micromechanical gyroscope model was performed with ANSYS program. The temperature dependence for eigenfrequencies was obtained. The dependence of the scale factor on temperature for the most temperature-independent variant of sensor positioning on the wafer was determined. The developed mathematical model was used to find the forms of the output oscillations of the gyroscope

P148 CD68 expression in inflammatory cell infiltration of nonspecific invasive breast cancer

BackgroundTumor-associated macrophages play a main role in tumor progression and dissemination. Taking into account the high heterogeneicity of tumor the different clinical impact of macrophages, infiltrating different sites of tumor, could be expected. The aim was to detect the level of CD68+ cells (macrophages) in the different site of stroma in breast tumor in comparison to clinical course.Materials and methodsOne thirty-six women with nonspecific invasive breast cancer T1-4N0-3M0, who were treated in General Oncology Department of Tomsk Cancer Research Institute (Tomsk, Russia), were included in the present study. Patients did not receive preoperative treatment. The material was fixed in 10–12% neutral formalin. Preparation of the histological material was carried out according to standard procedures. Morphological examination of the surgical specimens was performed by the standard method using a light microscope β€œCarl Zeiss Axio Lab.A1” (Germany) and slidescanner β€œMiraxMidiZeiss” (Germany). Metastatic lesion was detected in regional lymph nodes. Immunohistochemical study was performed according to standard procedures. Cytoplasmic expression of these markers was determined in the inflammatory cell infiltrate of different tumor segments: (1) in areas with soft fibrous stroma; (2) in areas with coarse fibrous stroma; (3) in the areas of the so-called β€œmaximum stromal-and-parenchymal relationship” where the individual tumor cells, short strands and groups of tumor cells arranged in soft fibrous stroma; (4) among parenchymal elements; (5) in gaps of ductal tumor structures. Double-stained immunofluorescence was performed according to standard procedures using Leica TCS SP2 laser-scanning spectral confocal microscope (Germany). The following primary antibodies were used: mouse monoclonal anti-human CD68Β (BD Biosciences) and rabbit polyclonal anti-stabilin-1 or RS1 (marker of M2 macrophages).ResultsThe highest expression of CD68 in the inflammatory cell infiltrate was detected more frequently in areas with soft fibrous stroma (54%) or the so-called β€œmaximum stromal-and-parenchymal relationship” (79%) in patients with breast cancer. The lowest expression of CD68 was observed in areas with coarse fiber stroma (23%). The CD68-positive cells of the inflammatory infiltrate were located between parenchymal elements of tumor (88%). Inverse correlation (R=βˆ’0.67; p=0.02) observed between tumor size and the expression of CD68 in the cells of the inflammatory infiltrate in gaps of tubular tumor structures. The CD68 expression in cells of the inflammatory tumor infiltrate was correlated with the presence of metastatic regional lymph nodes. It was found that in the case of the lymph node metastases the average score of CD68 expression in cells of ductal gaps tumor structures was lower (1.4Β±0.5) in comparison with the negative lymph nodes case (3.1Β±1.0; F=10.9; p=0.007). Same time no correlation between the CD68 expression in the inflammatory cell tumor infiltrate and the rate of tumor malignancy was found. Using confocal microscopy domination of CD68+/RS1+ cells were found.ConclusionSo, low CD68 expression level in ductal gaps tumor structures is associated with the presence of metastatic regional lymph nodes

    Cancer invasion: patterns and mechanisms

    Get PDF
Cancer invasion and the ability of malignant tumor cells for directed migration and metastasis have remained a focus of research for many years. Numerous studies have confirmed the existence of two main patterns of cancer cell invasion: collective cell migration and individual cell migration, by which tumor cells overcome barriers of the extracellular matrix and spread into surrounding tissues. Each pattern of cell migration displays specific morphological features and the biochemical/molecular genetic mechanisms underlying cell migration. Two types of migrating tumor cells, mesenchymal (fibroblast-like) and amoeboid, are observed in each pattern of cancer cell invasion. This review describes the key differences between the variants of cancer cell migration, the role of epithelial-mesenchymal, collective-amoeboid, mesenchymal-amoeboid, and amoeboid- mesenchymal transitions, as well as the significance of different tumor factors and stromal molecules in tumor invasion. The data and facts collected are essential to the understanding of how the patterns of cancer cell invasion are related to cancer progression and therapy efficacy. Convincing evidence is provided that morphological manifestations of the invasion patterns are characterized by a variety of tissue (tumor) structures. The results of our own studies are presented to show the association of breast cancer progression with intratumoral morphological heterogeneity, which most likely reflects the types of cancer cell migration and results from different activities of cell adhesion molecules in tumor cells of distinct morphological structures
