Electrochemical processes and systems: application for tutors

The features of redox reactions and the principles of their balancing according to the medium composition are considered. The basic representations about electrochemical processes and systems are outlined. The reactions and principles of chemical sources of electric energy and electrolysis systems functioning are analyzed. A general idea is given about the chemical properties of metals, corrosion resistance in environments of various aggressiveness, and the protection principles are given. Multivariate tasks and exercises for students, and PhD student’s classroom and independent work are offered. Calculations of the Far-Wing Line Profiles of Sodium and Potassium in the Atmospheres of Substellar-Mass Objects

At the low temperatures achieved in cool brown dwarf and hot giant planet atmospheres, the less refractory neutral alkali metals assume an uncharacteristically prominent role in spectrum formation. In particular, the wings of the Na-D (5890 \AA) and K I (7700 \AA) resonance lines come to define the continuum and dominate the spectrum of T dwarfs from 0.4 to 1.0 \mic. Whereas in standard stellar atmospheres the strengths and shapes of the wings of atomic spectral lines are rarely needed beyond 25 \AA of a line center, in brown dwarfs the far wings of the Na and K resonance lines out to 1000's of \AA detunings are important. Using standard quantum chemical codes and the Unified Franck-Condon model for line profiles in the quasi-static limit, we calculate the interaction potentials and the wing line shapes for the dominant Na and K resonance lines in H$_2$- and helium-rich atmospheres. Our theory has natural absorption profile cutoffs, has no free parameters, and is readily adapted to spectral synthesis calculations for stars, brown dwarfs, and planets with effective temperatures below 2000 Kelvin.Comment: 14 pages, Latex, 7 figures in JPEG format, accepted for publication in the Astrophysical Journa

Analysis of Approaches to Formation of the Image Policy of a Region Анализ подходов к формированию имиджевой политики региона

The article is devoted to analysis of modern approaches to the process of formation of image policy. It specifies main advantages and shortcomings of developments on formation of the image policy. The specified advantages would become a basis for formation and realisation of the image policy of a region. The article considers the existing regulatory acts, which regulate formation and realisation of the image policy in a certain region. It formulates main requirements to the process of formation of the image policy of a region. It shows specific features of formation of the image policy of a region. It identifies that formation of the concept of the image policy should be accompanied with the following conditions: image of a region should correspond with the strategy of development of a region in general; the image should be interconnected and exist at three levels: international (external image policy), state (institutional) and regional (for the population of a region).Статья посвящена анализу современных подходов к процессу формирования имиджевой политики. Выделены основные преимущества и недостатки наработок по формированию имиджевой политики. Выявленные преимущества станут основой для формирования и реализации имиджевой политики региона. Рассмотрены существующие нормативные акты, которые регулируют формирование и реализацию имиджевой политики в определенном регионе. Сформулированы основные требования к процессу формирования имиджевой политики региона. Выявлены особенности формирования имиджевой политики региона. Было определено, что при формировании концепции имиджевой политики есть необходимость соблюдать следующие условия: имидж региона должен соответствовать стратегии развития региона в целом; имидж должен быть взаимосвязанным и существовать на трех уровнях: на международном (внешняя имиджевая политика), государственном (институциональный уровень) и региональном (для населения региона)

Modeling Hole Transport in Wet and Dry DNA

We present a DFT/classical molecular dynamics model of DNA charge conductivity. The model involves a temperature-driven, hole-hopping charge transfer and includes the time-dependent nonequilibrium interaction of DNA with its molecular environment. We validate our method against a variety of hole transport experiments. The method predicts a significant hole-transfer slowdown of ∼35% from dry to wet DNA with and without electric field bias. In addition, in agreement with experiments, it also predicts an insulating behavior of (GC)N oligomers for 40 < N < 1000, depending on the experimental setup

LAPAROSCOPIC SURGERY ON UTERUS AND ITS APPENDAGES IN PATIENTS WITH BREAST CANCER

One of the components of pathogenetic treatment of patients with breast cancer is castration. The aim of research is to investigate the significance of video assisted laparoscopic surgery on female reproductive organs in the treatment of breast cancer patients. The study is based on analysis of treatment results of 320 breast cancer patients with noncompromised menstruation and presence of steroid hor- mone receptors in tumor tissue. In comparison to surgical techniques used earlier, video assisted endoscopic surgery allows to decrease the aggressiveness of operation, accelerate the rehabilitation of patients, and lower the length of hospital stay. Radiation castration is not always effective: menstruation recovered in some patients. Besides, radiotherapy can not be recommended for patients with patho- logically transformed ovaries. Chemical castration with Zoladex or other analogous drugs is inaccessible for most patients in Russia
