Channel and spatial attention mechanism for fashion image captioning
Image captioning aims to automatically generate one or more description sentences for a given input image. Most of the existing captioning methods use encoder-decoder model which mainly focus on recognizing and capturing the relationship between objects appearing in the input image. However, when generating captions for fashion images, it is important to not only describe the items and their relationships, but also mention attribute features of clothes (shape, texture, style, fabric, and more). In this study, one novel model is proposed for fashion image captioning task which can capture not only the items and their relationship, but also their attribute features. Two different attention mechanisms (spatial-attention and channel-wise attention) is incorporated to the traditional encoder-decoder model, which dynamically interprets the caption sentence in multi-layer feature map in addition to the depth dimension of the feature map. We evaluate our proposed architecture on Fashion-Gen using three different metrics (CIDEr, ROUGE-L, and BLEU-1), and achieve the scores of 89.7, 50.6 and 45.6, respectively. Based on experiments, our proposed method shows significant performance improvement for the task of fashion-image captioning, and outperforms other state-of-the-art image captioning methods
On the Interference Alignment Designs for Secure Multiuser MIMO Systems
In this paper, we propose two secure multiuser multiple-input multiple-output
transmission approaches based on interference alignment (IA) in the presence of
an eavesdropper. To deal with the information leakage to the eavesdropper as
well as the interference signals from undesired transmitters (Txs) at desired
receivers (Rxs), our approaches aim to design the transmit precoding and
receive subspace matrices to minimize both the total inter-main-link
interference and the wiretapped signals (WSs). The first proposed IA scheme
focuses on aligning the WSs into proper subspaces while the second one imposes
a new structure on the precoding matrices to force the WSs to zero. When the
channel state information is perfectly known at all Txs, in each proposed IA
scheme, the precoding matrices at Txs and the receive subspaces at Rxs or the
eavesdropper are alternatively selected to minimize the cost function of an
convex optimization problem for every iteration. We provide the feasible
conditions and the proofs of convergence for both IA approaches. The simulation
results indicate that our two IA approaches outperform the conventional IA
algorithm in terms of average secrecy sum rate.Comment: Updated version, updated author list, accepted to be appear in IEICE

Adherence to highly active antiretroviral therapy among people living with HIV and associated high-risk behaviours and clinical characteristics: A cross-sectional survey in Vietnam
Although Vietnam has promoted the utilisation of highly active antiretroviral therapy (HAART) towards HIV elimination targets, adherence to treatment has remained under-investigated. We aimed to describe high-risk behaviours and clinical characteristics by adherence status and to identify the factors associated with non-adherence. We included 426 people living with HIV (PLWH) currently or previously involved in HAART. Most participants were men (75.4%), young (33.6 years), with low income and low education levels. Non-adherent PLWH (11.5%) were more likely to have a larger number of sex partners (p-value = 0.053), sex without condom use (p-value = 0.007) and not receive result at hospital or voluntary test centre (p-value = 0.001). Multiple logistic regression analysis showed that demographic (education levels), sexual risk behaviours (multiple sex partners and sex without using condom) and clinical characteristics (time and facility at first time received HIV-positive result) were associated with HAART non-adherence. There are differences in associated factors between women (education levels and place of HIV testing) and men (multiple sex partners). Gender-specific programs, changing risky behaviours and reducing harms among PLWH may benefit adherence. We highlight the need to improve the quantity and quality of HIV/AIDS services in Vietnam, especially in pre- and post-test counselling, to achieve better HAART adherence, working towards ending AIDS in 2030. © The Author(s) 2021. **Please note that there are multiple authors for this article therefore only the name of the first 5 including Federation University Australia affiliate “Huy Nguyen” is provided in this record*
VFFINDER: A Graph-based Approach for Automated Silent Vulnerability-Fix Identification
The increasing reliance of software projects on third-party libraries has
raised concerns about the security of these libraries due to hidden
vulnerabilities. Managing these vulnerabilities is challenging due to the time
gap between fixes and public disclosures. Moreover, a significant portion of
open-source projects silently fix vulnerabilities without disclosure, impacting
vulnerability management. Existing tools like OWASP heavily rely on public
disclosures, hindering their effectiveness in detecting unknown
vulnerabilities. To tackle this problem, automated identification of
vulnerability-fixing commits has emerged. However, identifying silent
vulnerability fixes remains challenging. This paper presents VFFINDER, a novel
graph-based approach for automated silent vulnerability fix identification.
VFFINDER captures structural changes using Abstract Syntax Trees (ASTs) and
represents them in annotated ASTs. VFFINDER distinguishes vulnerability-fixing
commits from non-fixing ones using attention-based graph neural network models
to extract structural features. We conducted experiments to evaluate VFFINDER
on a dataset of 36K+ fixing and non-fixing commits in 507 real-world C/C++
projects. Our results show that VFFINDER significantly improves the
state-of-the-art methods by 39-83% in Precision, 19-148% in Recall, and 30-109%
in F1. Especially, VFFINDER speeds up the silent fix identification process by
up to 47% with the same review effort of 5% compared to the existing
approaches.Comment: Accepted by IEEE KSE 202
Adaptation and Validation of the Vietnamese Translated Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire
Objectives: There is no existing Vietnamese diabetes knowledge questionnaire. This impedes assessment of patient knowledge that will be helpful in providing effective diabetes intervention. We aimed to validate the Vietnamese Translated Diabetes Knowledge Questionnaire (DKQ). Methodology: Translation and adaptation strictly followed the guidelines of Beaton et al. Internal consistency was assessed by Cronbach's alpha coefficient, test-retest reliability was assessed by Fleiss' Kappa coefficient, and validity value was determined among type 2 diabetes patients in a general hospital. Results: The Vietnamese version of the DKQ had good internal consistency (Cronbach's alpha for all items = 0.898) and stability (Kappa coefficient >0.600). The average score for all equivalence criteria was 1.00, demonstrating good equivalence to the original. The significant difference between knowledge score and education level (p <0.001) confirmed construct validity. Conclusion: Our study provided a reliable Vietnamese version of the DKQ. Future studies may apply the version in different regions in Vietnam to determine external validity
Nonlinear static and transient isogeometric analysis of functionally graded microplates based on the modified strain gradient theory
The objective of this study is to develop an effective numerical model within the framework of an isogeometric analysis (IGA) to investigate the geometrically nonlinear responses of functionally graded (FG) microplates subjected to static and dynamic loadings. The size effect is captured based on the modified strain gradient theory with three length scale parameters. The third-order shear deformation plate theory is adopted to represent the kinematics of plates, while the geometric nonlinearity is accounted based on the von Kármán assumption. Moreover, the variations of material phrases through the plate thickness follow the rule of mixture. By using Hamilton’s principle, the governing equation of motion is derived and then discretized based on the IGA technique, which tailors the non-uniform rational B-splines (NURBS) basis functions as interpolation functions to fulfil the C2-continuity requirement. The nonlinear equations are solved by the Newmark’s time integration scheme with Newton-Raphson iterative procedure. Various examples are also presented to study the influences of size effect, material variations, boundary conditions and shear deformation on the nonlinear behaviour of FG microplates
