    Helicoverpa armigera (Hubner) is considered one of the most important pests in agriculture globally. As it is a polypahgous pest and infests more than 180 plants, it causes huge economic loss annually. It is a native to India and is widely distributed throughout the country. Agriculturists have taken several measures to control this pest. Earlier methods include the use of chemical pesticides and insecticides. In recent times, more attention is being paid to the biological control methods such as use of natural enemies, pheromones, neuropeptides, development of transgenic crops, RNA interference technology etc. These methods though have faced some challenges in implementation but are safe, sustainable and mostly species specific. Here, we have discussed the chemical and biological methods that have been used in the past or are currently in practice. We have also discussed some of quite recent but promising technologies which in future can be developed as a tool for the control of Helicoverpa armige

    <b>Background:</b> Prevention of nosocomial infections, pre-operative and post-operative complications is directly linked with effective disinfection and decontamination. Microbial decontamination is the most serious challenge to the today&#x2032;s health care practice despite the abundance of disinfectants and chemicals as there are increasing reports of emergence of resistance to the action of commonly used disinfectants. There is a need to evaluate the efficacy of newer methods of asepsis for better patient management. <b>Aim:</b> This study was designed to evaluate the microbiocidal activity of superoxidized water (SOW) on common clinical isolates, ATCC strains, vegetative cells and spores of <i>Bacillus subtilis</i>. <b>Materials and Methods:</b> Bacterial suspensions were treated with SOW and deionized water (control). All the tubes were incubated at 37&#176;C for 0.5, 2.5 and 5.0 min. The number of viable cells was counted. <b>Results:</b> All the clinical isolates and ATCC strains were killed within 0.5 min of exposure to the SOW. Vegetative cells and spores of <i>B. subtilis</i> were killed after 5.0 min. <b>Conclusion:</b> We conclude that SOW is an effective microbiocidal agent for routine hospital use

    Weed as a plant growing where it is not desired. Sometimes certain weed turns out to be a great source of food or medicine. Some of the herbs used to prepare medicines are considered as weeds by agriculturists. Some of the farmers do not have any knowledge on medicinal value of weeds. A chemical analysis of weeds proves that there are many chemical compounds present, are may be useful for treatment of many diseases. Small species of Parthenium, Amaranthus, Argemone, Cynodon, Cyprus, Mimosa and Oxalis easily found in our garden and roadside, are having many medicinal values. The growing and marketing of medicinal herbs which are currently categorized as weeds could become a very good source of income to the farmers. By the help of this review, we have explored the various medicinal properties of weeds which will serve mankind and also the common people will be able to explore their knowledge regarding weeds and can also utilize them as their home remedy

    In recent years, beta-casomorphin peptides (BCM7/BCM9) derived from the digestion of cow milk have drawn a lot of attention world over because of their proposed impact on human health. In order to evaluate the transcriptional modulation of target genes through RT-qPCR in response to these peptides, availability of appropriate reference or internal control genes (ICGs) will be the key. The present study was planned to identify a panel of stable ICGs in the liver tissue of C57BL/6 mice injected with BCM7/BCM9 cow milk peptides for 3 weeks. A total of ten candidate genes were evaluated as potential ICGs by assessing their expression stability using software suites; geNorm, NormFinder and BestKeeper. The suitability of the identified ICGs was validated by assessing the relative expression levels of target genes, HP and Cu/Zn SOD. Based on geNorm, PPIA and SDHA gene pair was identified to be most stably expressed in liver tissue during the animal trials. Similarly, NormFinder analysis also identified PPIA as the most stable gene. BestKeeper analysis showed crossing point SD value for all the genes in the acceptable range that is closer to 1. Overall, the study identified a panel of stable ICGs for reliable normalization of target genes expression data in mice liver tissues during BCM7/9 peptides trial
