    IMPLEMENTING JAS (NATURAL SURROUNDING EXPLORATION) BASED PLANT DETERMINATION PRATICUM MODEL AT KELIMUTU NATIONAL PARK

    This study aimed to implement models and learning tools based on integrated JAS (Natural Surrounding Exploration) approach in the plant taxonomy course particularly plant determination material. This research was conducted by utilizing descriptive method with a qualitative approach. The research was conducted from September to November 2019 in the odd semester at the academic year 2019/2020. The samples were chosen by purposive sampling technique. The samples were 43 students of biology education study program at Universitas Flores who took plant taxonomy course. The research was conducted at Kelimutu National Park. Based on the results, the use of a taxonomic learning model based on natural surrounding exploration was considered quite interesting and encouraged meaningful teaching and learning activities. In addition, based on the results of interviews with biology students, this method provided advantages including (1) being able to increase students' understanding of plant identification, (2) being an attractive medium to trigger learning motivation because it was related to the real context around it, and (3) instilling a caring attitude and love for the natural wealth around and the culture around it

    UTILIZING PICTURE – BASED STAD COOPERATIVE LEARNING MODEL TO IMPROVE STUDENTS’ LEARNING OUTCOMES

    This study aimed to determine (1) the use of the picture-based STAD cooperative learning model for grade VIII students at SMP Negeri 2 Ende Selatan; (2) the students’ learning outcomes at grade VIII at SMP Negeri 2 Ende Selatan after using STAD type cooperative learning model. This research was a classroom action research (PTK) based on Kemmis & Mc Taggrat and utilized a qualitative approach. To collect the data, the researchers used (1) observation, (2) tests, (3) interviews, and (4) documentation. The data were analyzed with a descriptive qualitative method. The results of the study showed that (1) learning through picture – based STAD cooperative learning model increased the students’ active roles at grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Ende Selatan, (2) the use of picture – based STAD cooperative learning model also improved the students’ learning outcomes at grade VIII of SMP Negeri 2 Ende Selatan. This was showed from the mean score of the final test which increased from 54.40 to 77.95 in cycle II

    PERAN GURU DALAM MENINGKATKAN MOTIVASI BELAJAR PESERTA DIDIK DI SMPN I WOLOWARU KABUPATEN ENDE

    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui peran guru dalam meningkatkan motivasi belajar peserta didik di SMPN 1 Wolowaru Kecamatan Wolowaru Kabupaten Ende, melalui pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Guru merupakan titik sentral, yaitu sebagai ujung tombak di lapangan dalam pengembangan kurikulum. Keberhasilan belajar mengajar antara lain ditentukan oleh kemampuan professional dalam pribadi guru, dikarenakan pengembangan kurikulum berangkat dari dalam kelas, sehingga guru hendaknya mengusahakan gagasan kreatif dalam menerapkan kurikulum di kelasnya. Penelitian ini merupakan jenis penelitian kualitatif yang bertujuan untuk memperbaiki kualitas praktik pembelajaran di dalam kelas. Data yang diambil adalah data sikap ilmiah siswa melalui teknik observasi, wawancara dan dokumentasi. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan wawancara dan observasi serta keduanya dilakukan pengecekan silang dengan tambahan dokumentasi sebagai data pendukung. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat tujuh peran yang dilakukan guru-guru dalam meningkatkan motivasi peserta didik di SMPN 1 Wolowaru. Tujuh peran tersebut yaitu; Penggunaan metode dan media pembelajaran yang bervariasi, pemberian tugas yang teratur, pujian (reward), evaluasi yang konsisten, penilaian dalam setiap aspek, dan juga hukuman (punishment)
