Making the Right to Health a Reality for Brazil’s Indigenous Peoples: Innovation, Decentralization and Equity

    Get PDF
This article provides an overview of governance arrangements and changes in the Brazilian public health system since 1988, when the “Citizen’s Constitution” declared health to be a universal right. Since then, population coverage has grown substantially and health indicators have improved. Despite these achievements, inequities in access remain an important barrier to universal coverage, in particular for marginalized groups such as indigenous peoples. This article discusses the innovation cycle that produced the gains and recent efforts to guarantee more equitable access to health services for the indigenous population in a continent-sized country historically plagued by great inequalities.UKai

Micro implantes como anclaje absoluto : comparación de efectividad entre la utilización de cadena elástica y resorte cerrado de cromo-niquel en intrusión dental en perros, mediante evaluación radiográfica e histológica

At the present time, the use of implants has generated excellent results with their amply usage. The use of mini implants or screws as anchorage enables the different dental movements in either direction anterior or posterior, eliminating the undesirable effect of loss of anchorage support or reciprocal movements over other groups of teeth. The use of mini implants as absolute anchorage has great advantages over other systems of support or anchorage of which we could list the following: easy removal and application, minimal anatomical limitations, size is small and low cost. Definitely the most important advantage would be the management of space, so that the malocclusions would be corrected without the loss of the anchorage provided, and that the patient would cooperate so that we may obtain maximum results and effectiveness as it is the case of extraoral systems.

Inequality is a key political issue of our times. It has political consequences, fuelling conflict and raising legitimacy chal‑ lenges for regimes around the world, in democratic and non‑demo‑ cratic settings alike. At the centre of these challenges is the question of accountability: who can be held accountable, on what basis, how and by whom for tackling or failing to tackle which inequalities. In the field of global health, inequality has long been a key issue. A significant body of work — in global health and health systems research — has approached the issue of health inequalities and in‑ equities by highlighting the role of social determinants (Marmot, 2015; Wilkinson; Pickett, 2006; Barreto, 2017). A more recent and less developed stream of work frames them in terms of political de‑ terminants: in other words, seeing them as issues that may be ad‑ dressed through politics as well as policy

Solitonic self-sustained charge and energy transport on the superconducting cylinder

We present an exact time-dependent solution for a charged scalar field on a two-dimensional cylinder, that can be interpreted as representing a long-standing excitation on a ss-wave superconducting state, which propagates along a nanotube constructed out of twisted bilayer graphene. The solution has a topological charge characterized by an integer number, which counts the winding of the Higgs phase winds around the cylinder. The resulting electric current generates its own electromagnetic field in a self-consistent way, without the need of any external fields to keep it alive.Comment: 9 pages, 6 figures, accepted in Phys. DART: A Lightweight Quality-Suggestive Data-to-Text Annotation Tool

We present a lightweight annotation tool, the Data AnnotatoR Tool (DART), for the general task of labeling structured data with textual descriptions. The tool is implemented as an interactive application that reduces human efforts in annotating large quantities of structured data, e.g. in the format of a table or tree structure. By using a backend sequence-to-sequence model, our system iteratively analyzes the annotated labels in order to better sample unlabeled data. In a simulation experiment performed on annotating large quantities of structured data, DART has been shown to reduce the total number of annotations needed with active learning and automatically suggesting relevant labels.Comment: Accepted to COLING 2020 (selected as outstanding paper
