Urinary Tract Infection with Candida glabrata in a Patient with Spinal Cord Injury
Candida glabrata was thought to be a primarily non-pathogenic organism. However, with the ever-increasing population of immunocompromised individuals, it is considered to be an opportunistic pathogen. Patients with spinal cord injuries often using a long-term urinary catheter and are high risk for Urinary Tract Infections. This case report describes a patient with spinal cord injury (thoracic region) with a pure culture of Candida glabrata in a urine sample
Background and Aim: Many researchers have reported changes in movement patterns after injury. In this regard, the aim of this study was to compare the performance test of FMS in professional Wushu athletes with and without injury.
Methods: In this cross-sectional and causal-comparative study, 120 Wushu players in the age range of 23 to 30 years were purposefully selected based on inclusion criteria. The evaluation of functional movement patterns was assessed by FMS functional test. Data were analyzed using SPSS software version 26 through descriptive statistics, the Chi-square test was used to compare the difference between the groups with and without injury, and univariate and multivariate logistic regression tests were used to compare the two groups.
Results: The results of this study showed that there was a significant difference between the performance test scores between the two groups. The non-injured group reported a higher overall score than those with a history of injury.
Conclusion: It can be pointed out that injury can mainly lead to changes in movement patterns. Athletes with a history of previous injury may have faulty movement patterns; therefore, they may have problems when performing high-level sports activities.

Irtiqa Imini Pishgiri Masdumiyat. 2022;10(3):280-9.

URINARY TRACT INFECTION IN SPINAL CORD INJURIES
Objective: Spinal cord injuries are typically associated with major trauma from motor vehicle accidents, falls, sports injuries, and violence. Urinary Tract Infections (UTI) is one of the most frequent conditions seen in spinal cord injuries patients. Diagnosis is not always easy due to lack of symptoms. Present study is survey about urinary tract infection and pyuria in these patients. Methods: All of patients with spinal cord injuries, who admitted to Brain and Spinal Injury Repair Research Centre†in Imam Hospital in duration one year, were included in this study. Clean catch midstream urine samples were collected of patients and were analyzed by biochemical and microscopically surveys. Results: In total 103 patients, 22 patients have cervical spinal cord injury, 52 patients have thoracic spinal cord injury and 13 patients have lumbar spinal cord injury. 83 patients were urine culture positive with urinary tract infection and pyuria were seen in 65 patients. the highest incidence of UTI and pyuria were demonstrated in patients with cervical spinal cord damage. E.coli, Klebsiellapneumoniea and Enterobacter cloacae were isolated in urine samples respectively. the high incidence of resistancy to Nitrofurantoin and Imipenem in E.coli were seen. Conclusion: Patients with spinal cord injuries have to use catheter for long time and or for all of life, and they are high risk to recurrent urinary tract infections and other infections. These patients need to monitor for urinary tract infection although without any symptoms of infections and sometimes they need to take prophylactic antibiotics. Key words: spinal cord injury, urinary tract infection, pyuria.Â
Analytical study of unsteady sedimentation analysis of spherical particle in Newtonian fluid media
Unsteady settling behavior of solid spherical particles falling in water as a Newtonian fluid is investigated in this research. Least square method (LSM), Galerkin method, LSM-Padé, and numerical model are applied to analyze the characteristics of the particles motion. The influence of physical parameters on terminal velocity is discussed and it is showed that LSM and Galerkin method are efficient techniques for solving the governing equation. Among these methods, LSM-Padé demonstrates the best agreement with numerical results. The novelty of this work is to introduce new analytical methods for solving the non-linear equation of sedimentation applicable in many industrial and chemical applications
