The influence of cultural differences on consumers’ willingness to pay more for sustainable fashion

    Get PDF
Sustainable fashion is imperative to address environmental and social issues associated with the fashion industry. Although it is argued that consumers’ willingness to pay more (WTPM) for sustainable products, compared to the price of conventional products, can function as a catalyst to motivate companies to pursue sustainability principles. Yet whether consumers are willing to pay more for sustainable fashion remains a relatively unexplored topic. In this regard, we aimed to assess the role of culture using a diverse sample and partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM). To do so, we compared Italy, an established fashion market, and Russia, an evolving fashion market. Our PLS-SEM analysis revealed that for Italian consumers, the main cultural dimension driving sustainable fashion purchasing is collectivism, while for Russian consumers, the cultural dimension driving sustainable fashion purchasing is long-term orientation. Furthermore, power distance belief, masculinity, and uncertainty avoidance negatively influence Italian consumers’ WTPM, but these cultural dimensions do not influence Russian consumers’ WTPM. This study contributes to the literature on sustainable consumer behavior and cross-cultural psychology by demonstrating the application of Hofstede’s cultural dimensions theory at the individual level. Additionally, it provides insights into how managers may customize communication strategies for setting value-based pricing to increase consumers’ willingness to pay for sustainable fashion

Lithological and geochemical characteristics and sedimentary environments of the Cambrian high-carbon deposits in the east of the Siberian platform (Kyulenke river basin)

    Get PDF
Relevance. The need to study high-carbon deposits as potential sources of hydrocarbons and ore minerals that can significantly increase the mineral resource of Russia. In addition, the analysis of lithological and geochemical features and the reconstruction of the sedimentation conditions of the Kuonamka Formation make it possible to more accurately judge the nature of the Lower and Middle Cambrian paleobasin in the east of the Siberian Platform. Aim. To identify lithological and geochemical features of the composition and determine the sedimentation environment of the Kuonamka Formation. Object. High-carbon deposits of the Kuonamka Formation uncovered by exploration wells on the eastern margin of the Mun arch of the Siberian platform in the Kulenke river basin. Methods. Lithological description of core material; mineralogical and petrographic analysis; X-ray diffraction, X-ray fluorescence and microelement analysis; determination of the content of sulfur and iron forms by wet chemistry; scanning electron microscopy using X-ray spectral microprobe; analysis of petrochemical modules. Results. It was established that the Kuonamka Formation in the studied sections has a consistent structure of four well-defined lithological-stratigraphic horizons. The composition of the deposits is predominantly mixed and is determined by variations in three main mineral groups: clay, carbonate and siliceous, in addition organic matter. The paper demonstrates different forms of organic matter confirming the mixed algal-bacterial genesis of the biocenosis of the Kuonamka basin. The revealed lithological features and lithochemical data indicate the accumulation of high-carbon deposits at a considerable distance from the drift sources in the depression zone of the open sea basin with weak circulation of bottom waters in anoxic conditions. The geochemical euxinic environment was dominant in carbonate-siliceous muds. Sedimentation occurred during one major transgressive-regressive sedimentation cycle being a typical sequence of filling a uncompensated deep depression

Defining the Dimensions of National Security, Financial Security and Food Supply Chain in Ukraine

    Get PDF
The article justifies the relevance and necessity of defining and analyzing national security and its components. It considers the main conceptual approaches to defining the notion of national security. This is an original vision on what the term national security stands for. The following main components of the national security are characterized: national military, economic security (including financial and food supply chain security), cybersecurity as an integral part of the informational security, societal stability. The components of the national security are analyzed through the system of global indexes: Global Peace Index, Per capita nominal GDP, Index of Economic Freedom, Global Food Security Index, Global Cybersecurity Index, and Social Progress Index. The strategic directions of the development of the Ukrainian national security are defined according to individual components

Asteroid and comet hazard: Identification problem of observed space objects with the parental bodies

    Get PDF
This article focuses on the genetic identification of observed small cosmic bodies with alleged parental bodies; namely, comets, asteroids and meteoroid swarms. There is a problem of the upper D-value limit as a measure of proximity between the orbits of the bodies in the five-dimensional phase space (Southworth and Hawkins, 1963). In the study of genetic relationships of the comet and meteor complexes, the D value is usually taken as equal to 0.2 for all meteor showers. However, the upper D limit should be investigated for each meteoroid complex. For example, such investigation was performed for the Taurid meteor complex (Porubčan et al., 2006). In this paper, the upper D-criterion limit value was investigated for the Perseid meteor shower. The 1862 III Swift-Tuttle comet is its parental comet. © 2014 COSPAR

Construction of a mathematical model of the dynamics of childbearing change in the Altai region in 2000–2016, analysis of the dynamics of changes in birth rates for multiple age categories of women of childbearing age.Methodology. A auxiliary analysis element is the construction of linear mathematical models of the dynamics of childbearing by using fuzzy linear regression method based on fuzzy numbers. Fuzzy linear regression is considered as an alternative to standard statistical linear regression for short time series and unknown distribution law. The parameters of fuzzy linear and standard statistical regressions for childbearing time series were defined with using the built in language MatLab algorithm. Method of fuzzy linear regression is not used in sociological researches yet.Results. There are made the conclusions about the socio-demographic changes in society, the high efficiency of the demographic policy of the leadership of the region and the country, and the applicability of the method of fuzzy linear regression for sociological analysis

Managerial Aspects of Forming Enterprises’ Competitive Advantages: The Case of Agri-food Sector

    Get PDF
This study develops a methodological approach to evaluating the competitive advantages of agri-food companies in Ukraine. The materials used within the examination process were taken from 15 Ukrainian agri-food enterprises. The research methods were a multivariate linear regression model and cluster analysis. As a result of the regression model formation, a close relationship was revealed between firms’ competitiveness, potential, financial status, and production output and sales. Determination of the values of independent variables allowed predicting changes in the competitiveness of the studied agri-food enterprises for the next five years

Use of Cross-Correlation Analysis of EEG Signals for Detecting Risk Level for Development of Schizophrenia

    Get PDF
Study of the cross-correlation between EEGs can be used to detect susceptibility to schizophrenia in children and adolescents (11 to 14 years old). To find diagnostic characters, we use the cross-correlation technique based on the correlation coefficient and the Fourier spectrum of the cross-correlation functions. Our findings make it possible to associate the degree of frequency-phase synchronization in a separate frequency range with risk level of development of schizophrenia. Selenocentric reference coordinates net in the dynamic system

    Get PDF
Β© Published under licence by IOP Publishing Ltd. In this work, the selenocentric dynamic reference net was developed for the first time in the field of selendesy in order to address problems with space navigation. Three tasks were addressed in this research: a) the analysis of the mathematical model of the orthogonal coordinate transformation accuracy; b) the identification of the basic dynamic reference system objects with ones that are contained in reducing catalogues; and c) the extension of the base points net of the basic dynamic reference system. The result was a dynamic coordinate system summary that contains 1162 objects. The correlation analysis of this net was carried out and was found to coincide with modern dynamic coordinate systems that have been obtained. This selenocentric reference catalogue covers the full visible area of the Moon
