Phase Structure of the Interacting Vector Boson Model
The two-fluid Interacting Vector Boson Model (IVBM) with the U(6) as a
dynamical group possesses a rich algebraic structure of physical interesting
subgroups that define its distinct exactly solvable dynamical limits. The
classical images corresponding to different dynamical symmetries are obtained
by means of the coherent state method. The phase structure of the IVBM is
investigated and the following basic phase shapes, connected to a specific
geometric configurations of the ground state, are determined: spherical,
, unstable, O(6), and axially deformed
shape, . The ground state quantum phase transitions
between different phase shapes, corresponding to the different dynamical

Energy Systematics of Low-lying Collective States within the Framework of the Interacting Vector Boson Model
In a new application of the algebraic Interacting Vector Boson Model (IVBM),
we exploit the reduction of its Sp(12,R) dynamical symmetry group to Sp(4,R) x
SO(3), which defines basis states with fixed values of the angular momentum L.
The relationship of the latter to $U(6) \subset U(3)x U(2), which is the
rotational limit of the model, means the energy distribution of collective
states with fixed angular momentum can be studied. Results for low-lying
spectra of rare-earth nuclei show that the energies of collective positive
parity states with L=0,2,4,6... lie on second order curves with respect to the
number of collective phonons n or vector bosons N=4n out of which the states
are built. The analysis of this behavior leads to insight regarding the common
nature of collective states, tracking vibrational as well as rotational

Six-dimensional Davidson potential as a dynamical symmetry of the symplectic Interacting Vector Boson Model
A six-dimensional Davidson potential, introduced within the framework of the
Interacting Vector Boson Model (IVBM), is used to describe nuclei that exhibit
transitional spectra between the purely rotational and vibrational limits of
the theory. The results are shown to relate to a new dynamical symmetry that
starts with the reduction. Exact
solutions for the eigenstates of the model Hamiltonian in the basis defined by
a convenient subgroup chain of SO(6) are obtained. A comparison of the
theoretical results with experimental data for heavy nuclei with transitional

The factors associated to psychosocial stress among general practitioners in Lithuania. Cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND: There are number of studies showing that general practice is one of the most stressful workplace among health care workers. Since Baltic States regained independence in 1990, the reform of the health care system took place in which new role and more responsibilities were allocated to general practitioners' in Lithuania. This study aimed to explore the psychosocial stress level among Lithuanian general practitioner's and examine the relationship between psychosocial stress and work characteristics. METHODS: The cross-sectional study of 300 Lithuanian General practitioners. Psychosocial stress was investigated with a questionnaire based on the Reeder scale. Job demands were investigated with the R. Karasek scale. The analysis included descriptive statistics; interrelationship analysis between characteristics and multivariate logistic regression to estimate odds ratios for each of the independent variables in the model. RESULTS: Response rate 66% (N = 197). Our study highlighted highest prevalence of psychosocial stress among widowed, single and female general practitioners. Lowest prevalence of psychosocial stress was among males and older age general practitioners. Psychosocial stress occurs when job demands are high and job decision latitude is low (χ(2 )= 18,9; p < 0,01). The multivariate analysis shows that high job demands (OR 4,128; CI 2,102–8,104; p < 0,001), patient load more than 18 patients per day (OR 5,863; CI 1,549–22,188; p < 0,01) and young age of GP's (OR 6,874; CI 1,292–36,582; p < 0,05) can be assigned as significant predictors for psychosocial stress. CONCLUSION: One half of respondents suffering from work related psychosocial stress. High psychological workload demands combined with low decision latitude has the greatest impact to stress caseness among GP's. High job demands, high patient load and young age of GP's can be assigned as significant predictors of psychosocial stress among GP's
Interaction among general practitioners age and patient load in the prediction of job strain, decision latitude and perception of job demands. A Cross-sectional study
BACKGROUND: It is widely recognized and accepted that job strain adversely impacts the workforce. Individual responses to stressful situations can vary greatly and it has been shown that certain people are more likely to experience high levels of stress in their job than others. Studies highlighted that there can be age differences in job strain perception. METHODS: Cross-sectional postal survey of 300 Lithuanian general practitioners. Psychosocial stress was investigated with a questionnaire based on the Reeder scale. Job demands were investigated with the Karasek scale. The analysis included descriptive statistics; logistic regression beta coefficients to find out predictors and interactions between characteristics and predictors. RESULTS: Response rate was 66% (N = 197). Logistic regression as significant predictors for job strain assigned – duration of work in primary care; for job demands- age and duration of working in primary care; for decision latitude- age and patient load. The interactions with regard to job strain showed that GP's age and job strain are negatively associated to a low patient load. Lower decision latitude for older GP age is strongly related to higher patient load. Job demands and GP age are slightly positively related at low patient load. CONCLUSIONS: Lithuanian GP's have high patient load and are at risk of stress, they have high job demands and low decision latitude. Older GP's perceive less strain, lower job demands and higher decision latitude in case of low patient load. Young GP's decision latitude has week association to patient load. Regarding to the changes in patient load younger GP's perceive it more sensitively as changes in job demands
Oriented Matroids -- Combinatorial Structures Underlying Loop Quantum Gravity
We analyze combinatorial structures which play a central role in determining
spectral properties of the volume operator in loop quantum gravity (LQG). These
structures encode geometrical information of the embedding of arbitrary valence
vertices of a graph in 3-dimensional Riemannian space, and can be represented
by sign strings containing relative orientations of embedded edges. We
demonstrate that these signature factors are a special representation of the
general mathematical concept of an oriented matroid. Moreover, we show that
oriented matroids can also be used to describe the topology (connectedness) of
directed graphs. Hence the mathematical methods developed for oriented matroids
can be applied to the difficult combinatorics of embedded graphs underlying the
construction of LQG. As a first application we revisit the analysis of [4-5],
and find that enumeration of all possible sign configurations used there is
equivalent to enumerating all realizable oriented matroids of rank 3, and thus
can be greatly simplified. We find that for 7-valent vertices having no
coplanar triples of edge tangents, the smallest non-zero eigenvalue of the
volume spectrum does not grow as one increases the maximum spin \jmax at the
vertex, for any orientation of the edge tangents. This indicates that, in
contrast to the area operator, considering large \jmax does not necessarily
imply large volume eigenvalues. In addition we give an outlook to possible
starting points for rewriting the combinatorics of LQG in terms of oriented

Prevalence and associated factors in burnout and psychological morbidity among substance misuse professionals
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>Studies of psychological stress among substance misuse professionals rarely describe the nature of burnout and psychological morbidity. The main aim of this study was to determine the extent, pattern and predictors of psychological morbidity and burnout among substance misuse professionals.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>This study was a cross-sectional mail survey of 194 clinical staff of substance misuse services in the former South Thames region of England, using the General Health Questionnaire (GHQ-12) the Maslach Burnout Inventory (MBI) as measures of psychological morbidity and burnout, respectively.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>Rates of psychological morbidity (82%: 95% CI = 76–87) and burnout (high emotional exhaustion – 33% [27–40]; high depersonalisation – 17% [12–23]; and diminished personal accomplishment – 36% [29–43]) were relatively high in the study sample. High levels of alienation and tension (job stressors) predicted emotional exhaustion and depersonalisation (burnout) but not psychological morbidity. Diminished personal accomplishment was associated with higher levels of psychological morbidity</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>In the sample of substance misuse professionals studied, rates of psychological morbidity and burnout were high, suggesting a higher level of vulnerability than in other health professionals. Furthermore, pathways to psychological morbidity and burnout are partially related. Therefore, targeted response is required to manage stress, burnout and psychological morbidity among substance misuse professionals. Such a response should be integral to workforce development.</p
Working conditions, self-perceived stress, anxiety, depression and quality of life: A structural equation modelling approach
<p>Abstract</p> <p>Background</p> <p>The relationships between working conditions [job demand, job control and social support]; stress, anxiety, and depression; and perceived quality of life factors [physical health, psychological wellbeing, social relationships and environmental conditions] were assessed using a sample of 698 male automotive assembly workers in Malaysia.</p> <p>Methods</p> <p>The validated Malay version of the Job Content Questionnaire (JCQ), Depression Anxiety Stress Scales (DASS) and the World Health Organization Quality of Life-Brief (WHOQOL-BREF) were used. A structural equation modelling (SEM) analysis was applied to test the structural relationships of the model using AMOS version 6.0, with the maximum likelihood ratio as the method of estimation.</p> <p>Results</p> <p>The results of the SEM supported the hypothesized structural model (<it>χ</it><sup>2 </sup>= 22.801, <it>df </it>= 19, <it>p </it>= 0.246). The final model shows that social support (JCQ) was directly related to all 4 factors of the WHOQOL-BREF and inversely related to depression and stress (DASS). Job demand (JCQ) was directly related to stress (DASS) and inversely related to the environmental conditions (WHOQOL-BREF). Job control (JCQ) was directly related to social relationships (WHOQOL-BREF). Stress (DASS) was directly related to anxiety and depression (DASS) and inversely related to physical health, environment conditions and social relationships (WHOQOL-BREF). Anxiety (DASS) was directly related to depression (DASS) and inversely related to physical health (WHOQOL-BREF). Depression (DASS) was inversely related to the psychological wellbeing (WHOQOL-BREF). Finally, stress, anxiety and depression (DASS) mediate the relationships between job demand and social support (JCQ) to the 4 factors of WHOQOL-BREF.</p> <p>Conclusion</p> <p>These findings suggest that higher social support increases the self-reported quality of life of these workers. Higher job control increases the social relationships, whilst higher job demand increases the self-perceived stress and decreases the self-perceived quality of life related to environmental factors. The mediating role of depression, anxiety and stress on the relationship between working conditions and perceived quality of life in automotive workers should be taken into account in managing stress amongst these workers.</p
