The study evaluated factors affecting the selection of agricultural farming models and advantages, difficulties, and opportunities in the implementation process to propose solutions to develop appropriate agricultural sustainable farming models. The study uses secondary and primary data through KIP interviews, focus group interviews, in-depth interviews, and farmer interviews. As a result, this study found education is an important factor affecting farmers in choosing their farming models and increasing agricultural production in their farmland. For most of the considered factors, the majority of Kinh people choose to evaluate the influence of the decision in choosing a farming model higher than another ethnic group (Khmer). Besides, the Khmer ethnic group accounts for a higher proportion of poor households (18.2%) than the Kinh group. Because of low economic conditions, decisions on agricultural production of Khmer ethnic groups are less assertive than that of the Kinh people. On the other hand, there is a serious shortage of water in the dry season in the highlands, cultivated mainly by rainwater, ethnic minority accounts for 53.36% of the whole commune population, educational level makes it difficult to apply modern techniques in production. Therefore, strengthening and mobilizing people, investing in building upland irrigation systems, and using effective land conversion are essential activities to be carried out to improve the efficiency of farming models to make sustainable agricultural production that can increase income and enhance the economic life of local people

The results of investigation on early evaluation of compatibility between commercial citrus varieties, and Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix) and Carrizo citrange (C. sinensis Osb. x P. trifoliata L. Raf.) rootstocks, at Mekong Delta Vietnam, during four successive years from 2010 to 2013, reported that out of the tested combinations of the recent commercial citrus varieties, included Da xanh pumelo (C. grandis Osbeck), seedless Mat orange (C. sinensis L. Osbeck), Sanh orange (C. nobilis Lour.) and Duong mandarin  (C. reticulata), budded on Kaffir lime and Carrizo citrange, in the 3rd and 4th  year after planting under the trial fields at Mekong Delta Vietnam, the trees of Sanh orange (C. nobilis Lour.) budded on Kaffir lime (Citrus hystrix) were supperior with precocity, producing high number of fruits (16.67 fruits per tree ), and very good fruit quality of larger fruit size (334.6 g and 11.16 cm, fruit weight and diameter, respectively), higher total soluble solids (12.5 brix), better orange-yellow juice color development, and excellent flavor and aroma of juice, as compared to the typical characteristics; meanwhile these were followed by trees of seedless Mat orange budded on Kaffir lime, which produced the highest number of fruits (47.33 fruits per tree), with little inferior quality of seedy fruit (1-3 seeds per fruit), lower total soluble solids (7.33%), and no good flavor and aroma, as somewhat differed from the typical fruit traits

Validation of the factor structure of the motivated strategies for learning questionnaire

    Get PDF
In recent years, the motivated strategies for learning questionnaire (MSLQ) has been used to assess students’ motivational orientations and utilization of various learning strategies. Due to its significant effects on student outcomes such as academic performance and careers, research on the factor structure of motivated strategies for learning has received increasing attention. However, the existing literature indicates a dearth of studies focusing on the MSLQ dimensions in Vietnam. Therefore, this study aimed to ascertain the factor structure of the 31-item Student Motivation Scale (SMS), which is a subset of the larger 81-item MSLQ, in the context of Vietnam. The study utilized the Vietnamese version of the SMS to collect data from 317 high school students in Vietnam. The factorial analysis showed that the SMS has its original six-factor structure, which is made up of task value (TV), control beliefs, self-efficacy for learning and performance (SLP), test anxiety (TA), and intrinsic goal orientation (IGO). The present study recommended that school leaders and teachers should use the SMS to assess students’ motivation in the context of Vietnamese education

FATTY ACID COMPOSITION AND ANTIOXIDANT ACTIVITY OF CAMELLIA NINHII SEED OIL COLLECTED IN LAM DONG PROVINCE

The seed oil of Camellia ninhii was studied for the first time on its fatty acid composition by gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS) and antioxidant activity by the DPPH method. The results show that unsaturated fatty acids account for the largest amount, especially oleic acid with 45.43% of the total sample analyzed. In addition, other fatty acids, palmitic, linoleic, pentadecanoic, and two aromatic acids, benzoic and cinnamic, were present. The sample of C. ninhii seed oil exhibited mild antioxidant activity against DPPH free radicals with IC50 = 0.94 mg/mL

The antioxidant activity in vitro of methanol extract of Archidendron clypearia was evaluated by in vitro tests on isolated liver cells of mouses with ED50 value of 2.18 μg/mL compared to that of curcumin of 1.87 µg/mL. Using combined chromatographic methods, four compounds were isolated from chloroform extract of the Archidendron clypearia. Their structures were elucidated to be daucosterol, 1-octacosanol, docosenoic acid, and methyl gallate by 1D- and 2D-NMR spectroscopic methods and in comparison with those reported in the literature. This is the first report of these compounds from the plant. All four compounds showed quite high antioxidant activity, for which methyl gallate was the highest one
