Volatile Constituents of Different Plant Parts and Populations of Malabaila aurea Boiss. from Montenegro
The volatile constituents of different plant parts and populations of Malabaila aurea Boiss. from Montenegro were obtained by simultaneous distillation-extraction and analyzed by GC-FID and GC-MS. A total of 12 samples were examined and 45 compounds were identified. The volatile content of different M. aurea populations was very similar, while the volatile fractions obtained from different plant parts showed significant qualitative and quantitative differences. The most abundant compounds found in stems & leaves were apiole (51.0-56.3%), myristicin (16.3-25.4%), and falcarinol (4.1-10.7%). The roots showed the same major components, but with different relative abundances: 30.9-49.1% of apiole, 12.9-34.7% of falcarinol, and 9.9-31.1% of myristicin. The volatile constituents of fruits & flowers were remarkably different, containing up to 71.2-80.5% octyl butyrate, 11.4-18.0% octanol, and 2.7-6.8% octyl hexanoate. The results were discussed as possible indication of relatedness of Malabaila aurea and Pastinaca sativa (parsnip)

Inhibition potency of disulphides and trisulphides on various tumor cell lines growth
Tumor is one of the leading diseases of today. Chemotherapy and radiation therapy healing chances are limited, so some alternative methods are resorted to. Many papers indicated that garlic and organosulphur compounds diallyldisulphide (DADS) and diallyltrisulphide, which are main components of garlic decrease the cancer risk and inhibit the cell proliferation. In this paper inhibition potency of disulphides (DADS and its synthetic analogues) and trisulphides with different alkyl and phenyl substituents on growth of various tumor (Non-Small cell Lung Cancer, Colon cancer, CNS Cancer, Melanoma, Ovarian Cancer, Renal Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, Leukemia) cell lines was investigated. Concentration of each compound (DADS, diethyl disulphide, dipropyl disulphide, diphenyl disulphide, tetraethylthiuram disulphide (TETUDS), dimetil trisulphide, dipropyl trisulphide and metilpropyl trisulphide (MPTS) was 10 Ī¼mol/L. It was found that DADS has an inhibitory effect on the growth of several cancer cell lines, but synthetic analogues TETUDS and MPTS exhibit stronger effect on certain cells lines. MPTS inhibits the growth of even 12 cell lines for more than 10%, especially leukemia cell line SR and NCI-H522 cell line of Non-Small cell Lung Cancer (reduction of growth for 24% and 47%, resp.). Trisulphide analogues exhibit little higher inhibitory effects in comparison to disulphide ones
Uticaj varijeteta viÅ”nje na hemijske i senzorne karakteristike rakije viÅ”njevaÄe
The chemical and sensorial characteristics of cherry brandy produced from five cherry varieties (Oblacinska, Celery's 16, Rexle, Heiman's Ruby and Heiman's Conserve) grown in Serbia were studied. Gas chromatography and gas chromatography-mass spectrometry analysis of these distillates led to the identification of 32 components, including 20 esters, benzaldehyde, 6 terpenes and 5 acids. The ethyl esters of C(8)-C(18) acids were the most abundant in all samples. The benzaldehyde content was quantified by high performance liquid chromatography with UV detection. The average benzaldehyde concentration in the samples ranged between 2.1 and 24.1 mg L(-1). The total sensory scores of the cherry brandies ranged between 17.30 to 18.05, with the cherry brandy produced from the Celery's 16 variety receiving the highest score (18.05).Ispitivane su hemijske i senzorske karakteristike rakije viÅ”njevaÄe proizvedene iz pet varijeteta viÅ”nje (OblaÄinska, Celery's 16, Rexle, Heiman's Ruby i Heiman's Conserve) gajenih u Srbiji.
The influence of Ī³ and X radiation on pulse characteristic of some commercial gas filled surge arresters
The aim of this paper is to examine the influence of Ī³ and X radiation to response time of some commercial gas filled surge arresters. We found that both radiations have significant influence on gas filled surge arresters pulse characteristic. The obtained results show that the optimal solution in gamma radiation field was CITEL components, while in X radiation field was better to use SIEMENS components.XXIV Simpozijum DruÅ”tva za zaÅ”titu od zraÄenja Srbije i Crne Gore, Zlatibor, 3-5. oktobar 2007

Cuticular chemoprofile of the fruit fly drosophila subobscura (diptera, drosophilidae)
In insects, cuticular hydrocarbon (CHC) profile is involved in many important biological functions and may vary in different conditions. Among fruit fly species, Drosophila subobscura is one of the most frequently used in genetic, ecological and evolutionary research, because of its rich chromosomal polymorphism, specific behavioral repertoires and habitat preferences. In this work, we identified and quantified cuticular chemoprofile of D. subobscura. Using gas chromatography (GC) and gas chromatography coupled with mass spectrometry (GC-MS), 25 chemical compounds were found in males and 23 compounds were found in females. Further, ANOVA confirmed significant sexual dimorphism in cuticular chemoprofile amounts. Knowledge of cuticular chemistry could contribute to further research in D. subobscura, starting from behavioral, up to ecological, since this species is recognized as an important model system for the study and monitoring of global climate changes
