Ethnic residential patterns in Dutch cities : class, race or culture ? Hans van AMERSFOORT In the period 1970-1982 the Netherlands experienced a relatively heavy immigration of Surinamese, Turks and Moroccans. These three immigrant populations comprise the most important ethnic groups in the Netherlands. The development of their settlement patterns during the immigration period is described. Furthermore the paper explores to what extent general theories about ethnic residential differentiation are corroborated by the ethnic patterns in Dutch cities. On the basis of the literature four « theories » of ethnic residential differentiation are formulated. It is pointed out that three of these four « theories » contribute to our understanding of the existing ethnic patterns in Dutch cities, though they certainly do not fit perfectly. Only the fourth, most radical approach, can be definitely refuted. All the four theories neglect the demographic development of the autochtonous population, which seems however an important factor in the Dutch situation.Résidence et groupes ethniques dans les villes néerlandaises : classe, race ou culture ? Ce sont les trois groupes ethniques les plus importants aux Pays-Bas. Cet article décrit l'évolution de leur répartition résidentielle au cours de la période. En outre, les théories générales sur la répartition résidentielle des groupes ethniques sont réexaminées à la lumière des données sur les villes néerlandaises. Sur la base de la littérature existante, quatre « théories » sont formulées. On montre que trois d'entre elles contribuent à notre compréhension de la répartition ethnique observée dans les villes néerlandaises, bien qu'elles ne collent pas parfaitement à la réalité. Seule la quatrième approche, la plus radicale, doit être définitivement écartée. Les quatre théories négligent l'évolution démographique de la population autochtone, ce qui semble pourtant être un facteur important dans le contexte néerlandais.Amersfoort Hans Van. Experiences with Semantic Wikis for Architectural Knowledge Management

Abstract—In this paper, we reflect on our experiences with using semantic wikis for architectural knowledge management in two different contexts: e-government and distributed software development. Whereas our applications of semantic wikis in e-government focus on organizing and structuring architectural knowledge for reuse, the applications in distributed software development focus on searching and querying architectural knowledge. Yet, the emerging research challenges – alignment of knowledge models, knowledge versioning, change acknowledgements – are very similar.
