Homogeneous spaces with symmetries
We give a brief survey of main recent results about invariant pseudo-Riemannian metrics and classical affinor structures on homogeneous spaces with symmetries obtained by the participants of the joint BRFFI-RFFI project “Homogeneous spaces with symmetries”
A Novel UV Photon Detector with Resistive Electrodes
In this study we present first results from a new detector of UV photons: a
thick gaseous electron multiplier (GEM) with resistive electrodes, combined
with CsI or CsTe/CsI photocathodes. The hole type structure considerably
suppresses the photon and ion feedback, whereas the resistive electrodes
protect the detector and the readout electronics from damage by any eventual
discharges. This device reaches higher gains than a previously developed
photosensitive RPC and could be used not only for the imaging of UV sources,
flames or Cherenkov light, for example, but also for the detection of X-rays
and charged particles.Comment: Presented at the International Workshop on Resistive Plate Chambers,

Multifragmentation and nuclear phase transitions (liquid-fog and liquid-gas)
Thermal multifragmentation of hot nuclei is interpreted as the nuclear
liquid-fog phase transition. The charge distributions of the intermediate mass
fragments produced in p(3.6 GeV) + Au and p(8.1 GeV) + Au collisions are
analyzed within the statistical multifragmentation model with the critical
temperature for the nuclear liquid-gas phase transition Tc as a free parameter.
The analysis presented here provides strong support for a value of Tc > 15 MeV.Comment: 4 pages, 2 figures, Submittet to Proc. of NN2003 to be published in
