    Measurement of the K+→μ+νμγK^+\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\nu_{\mu}}{\gamma} decay form factors in the OKA experiment

    Full text link
    A precise measurement of the vector and axial-vector form factors difference FV−FAF_V-F_A in the K+→μ+νμγK^+\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\nu_{\mu}}{\gamma} decay is presented. About 95K events of K+→μ+νμγK^+\rightarrow{\mu^+}{\nu_{\mu}}{\gamma} are selected in the OKA experiment. The result is FV−FA=0.134±0.021(stat)±0.027(syst)F_V-F_A=0.134\pm0.021(stat)\pm0.027(syst). Both errors are smaller than in the previous FV−FAF_V-F_A measurements.Comment: 9 pages, 8 figure

    First Observation of the Doubly Charmed Baryon Xi_cc^+

    Full text link
    We observe a signal for the doubly charmed baryon Xi_cc^+ in the charged decay mode Xi_cc^+ --> Lambda_c^+ K- pi+ in data from SELEX, the charm hadro-production experiment at Fermilab. We observe an excess of 15.9 events over an expected background of 6.1 +/- 0.5 events, a statistical significance of 6.3sigma. The observed mass of this state is (3519 +/- 1) MeV/c^2. The Gaussian mass width of this state is 3MeV/c^2, consistent with resolution; its lifetime is less than 33fsec at 90% confidence.Comment: 5 pages, 3 figures, accepted for publication in Physical Review Letter

    First Measurement of pi e -> pi e gamma Pion Virtual Compton Scattering

    Full text link
    Pion Virtual Compton Scattering (VCS) via the reaction pi e --> pi e gamma was observed in the Fermilab E781 SELEX experiment. SELEX used a 600 GeV/c pi- beam incident on target atomic electrons, detecting the incident pi- and the final state pi-, electron and gamma. Theoretical predictions based on chiral perturbation theory are incorporated into a Monte Carlo simulation of the experiment and are compared to the data. The number of reconstructed events (9) and their distribution with respect to the kinematic variables (for the kinematic region studied) are in reasonable accord with the predictions. The corresponding pi- VCS experimental cross section is sigma=38.8+-13 nb, in agreement with the theoretical expectation sigma=34.7 nb.Comment: 10 pages, 12 figures, 4 tables, 25 references, SELEX home page is http://fn781a.fnal.gov/, revised July 21, 2002 in response to journal referee Comment

    Observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed decay Xi_c+ -> p K- pi+

    Full text link
    We report the first observation of the Cabibbo-suppressed charm baryon decay Xi_c+ -> p K- pi+. We observe 150 +- 22 events for the signal. The data were accumulated using the SELEX spectrometer during the 1996-1997 fixed target run at Fermilab, chiefly from a 600 GeV/c Sigma- beam. The branching fractions of the decay relative to the Cabibbo-favored Xi_c+ -> Sigma+ K- pi+ and Xi_c+ -> X- pi+ pi+ are measured to be B(Xi_c+ -> p K- pi+)/B(Xi_c+ -> Sigma+ K- pi+) = 0.22 +- 0.06 +- 0.03 and B(Xi_c+ -> p K- pi+)/B(Xi_c+ -> X- pi+ pi+) = 0.20 +- 0.04 +- 0.02, respectively.Comment: 5 pages, RevTeX, 3 figures (postscript), Submitted to Phys.     Searches for the light invisible axion-like particle in K+→π+π0aK^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{0}a decay

    Full text link
    A high statistics data sample of the K+K^{+} decays is recorded by the OKA collaboration. A missing mass analysis is performed to search for a light invisible pseudoscalar axion-like particle (ALP) aa in the decay K+→π+π0aK^{+} \to \pi^{+} \pi^{0} a. No signal is observed, the upper limits for the branching ratio of the decay are calculated. The 90%90\% confidence level upper limit is changing from 2.5⋅10−62.5\cdot10^{-6} to 2⋅10−72\cdot10^{-7} for the ALP mass from 0 to 200 MeV/c2c^{2}, except for the region of π0\pi^{0} mass, where the upper limit is 4.4⋅10−64.4\cdot10^{-6}.Comment: 6 pages, 6 figure

    Observation of K+→π+π0π0γK^{+} \to \pi^{+}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\gamma decay

    Full text link
    The K+→π+π0π0γK^{+} \to \pi^{+}\pi^{0}\pi^{0}\gamma decay is observed by the OKA collaboration. The branching ratio is measured to be (4.1±0.9(stat)±0.4(syst))×10−6(4.1 \pm 0.9(stat) \pm 0.4(syst))\times 10^{-6}. The branching ratio and γ\gamma energy spectrum are consistent with ChPT prediction.Comment: arXiv admin note: text overlap with arXiv:2310.1642

    Study of the decay K+→π+π−π+γK^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\gamma in the OKA experiment

    Full text link
    A high statistics data sample of the decays of K+K^+ mesons to three charged particles was accumulated by the OKA experiment in 2012 and 2013. This allowed to select a clean sample of about 450 events with K+→π+π−π+γK^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\gamma decays with the energy of the photon in the kaon rest frame greater than 30 MeV. The measured branching fraction of the K+→π+π−π+γK^{+}\to\pi^{+}\pi^{-}\pi^{+}\gamma, with Eγ∗E_{\gamma}^{*} > 30 MeV is (0.71±0.05)×10−5(0.71 \pm 0.05) \times 10^{-5}. The measured energy spectrum of the decay photon is compared with the prediction of the chiral perturbation theory to O(p4)(p^{4}). A search for an up-down asymmetry of the photon with respect to the hadronic system decay plane is also performed.Comment: 9 pages, 7 figures, 1 tabl

    ChPT tests at the NA48 and NA62 experiments at CERN

    Full text link
    The NA48/2 Collaboration at CERN has accumulated unprecedented statistics of rare kaon decays in the Ke4 modes: Ke4(+-) (K±→π+π−e±νK^\pm \to \pi^+ \pi^- e^\pm \nu) and Ke4(00) (K±→π0π0e±νK^\pm \to \pi^0 \pi^0 e^\pm \nu) with nearly one percent background contamination. The detailed study of form factors and branching rates, based on these data, has been completed recently. The results brings new inputs to low energy strong interactions description and tests of Chiral Perturbation Theory (ChPT) and lattice QCD calculations. In particular, new data support the ChPT prediction for a cusp in the π0π0\pi^0\pi^0 invariant mass spectrum at the two charged pions threshold for Ke4(00) decay. New final results from an analysis of about 400 K±→π±γγK^\pm \to \pi^\pm \gamma \gamma rare decay candidates collected by the NA48/2 and NA62 experiments at CERN during low intensity runs with minimum bias trigger configurations are presented. The results include a model-independent decay rate measurement and fits to ChPT description.Comment: XIIth International Conference on Heavy Quarks and Leptons 2014, Mainz, German
