reactions on light nuclei is reviewed. In particular, the recent results for
the two reactions 2H(\mu^-,\nu_\mu)nn and 3He(\mu^-,\nu_\mu)3H are presented,
and the unresolved discrepancies among different measurements and calculations,

Individual (co)variation in standard metabolic rate, feeding rate, and exploratory behavior in wild-caught semiaquatic salamanders
Repeatability is an important concept in evolutionary analyses because it provides information regarding the benefit of repeated measurements and, in most cases, a putative upper limit to heritability estimates. Repeatability (R) of different aspects of energy metabolism and behavior has been demonstrated in a variety of organisms over short and long time intervals. Recent research suggests that consistent individual differences in behavior and energy metabolism might covary. Here we present new data on the repeatability of body mass, standard metabolic rate (SMR), voluntary exploratory behavior, and feeding rate in a semiaquatic salamander and ask whether individual variation in behavioral traits is correlated with individual variation in metabolism on a whole-animal basis and after conditioning on body mass. All measured traits were repeatable, but the repeatability estimates ranged from very high for body mass (R = 0.98), to intermediate for SMR (R = 0.39) and food intake (R = 0.58), to low for exploratory behavior (R = 0.25). Moreover, repeatability estimates for all traits except body mass declined over time (i.e., from 3 to 9 wk), although this pattern could be a consequence of the relatively low sample size used in this study. Despite significant repeatability in all traits, we find little evidence that behaviors are correlated with SMR at the phenotypic and among-individual levels when conditioned on body mass. Specifically, the phenotypic correlations between SMR and exploratory behavior were negative in all trials but significantly so in one trial only. Salamanders in this study showed individual variation in how their exploratory behavior changed across trials (but not body mass, SMR, and feed intake), which might have contributed to observed changing correlations across trials
The longitudinal thickness of air-shower fronts
Linsely (1983) has proposed a technique for the detection and analysis of air showers at large distances from the shower axis based on a measurement of the shower front thickness and the assumption that this thickness is closely related to the core distance. Some of the problems involved with realizing such a technique were investigated, and some related observations are reported. The practical problems of how consistent the measurements of the shower front would be, how one would use the measurement, and how the rate of triggered events would depend on the minimum pulse width required are studied
Simulation Study of TenTen: A new Multi-TeV IACT array
TenTen is a proposed array of Imaging Atmospheric Cherenkov Telescopes (IACT)
optimized for the gamma ray energy regime of 10 TeV to 100 TeV, but with a
threshold of ~1 to a few TeV. It will offer a collecting area of 10 km2 above
energies of 10 TeV. In the initial phase, a cell of 3 to 5 modest-sized
telescopes, each with 10-30 m2 mirror area, is suggested for an Australian
site. A possible expansion of the array could comprise many such cells. Here we
present work on configuration and technical issues from our simulation studies
of the array. Working topics include array layout, telescope size and optics,

TenTen: A New Array of Multi-TeV Imaging Cherenkov Telescopes
The exciting results from H.E.S.S. point to a new population of gamma-ray
sources at energies E > 10 TeV, paving the way for future studies and new
discoveries in the multi-TeV energy range. Connected with these energies is the
search for sources of PeV cosmic-rays (CRs) and the study of multi-TeV
gamma-ray production in a growing number of astrophysical environments. TenTen
is a proposed stereoscopic array (with a suggested site in Australia) of
modest-sized (10 to 30m^2) Cherenkov imaging telescopes with a wide field of
view (8 to 10deg diameter) optimised for the E~10 to 100 TeV range. TenTen will
achieve an effective area of ~10 km^2 at energies above 10 TeV. We outline here

Qualitative analyses of available photographs and maps of
Merritt Island, Florida provide a large-scale, historical perspective
of ecological changes of the marshes in the vicinity.
Sites that deserve closer scrutiny can be identified. Secondarily,
such an analysis provides a geographical orientation essential
for communication not only between newcomers and those
familiar with the area, but also among those familiar with the
area but who refer to sites by differing methods.
Photographs and maps from various sources were examined.
Below are listed what we consider to be the most useful subset of
these for ecological and geographical assessment of salt marsh
