    Adaptive Control of STATCOM for Voltage Regulation

    In today’s world better mitigation of transmission related problem and study of shunt connect FACTS devices is connected field with the problem of reactive power compensation. FACTS devices providing an opportunity to congestions by controlling active and reactive power flows as well as voltages line. Shunt FACTS devices are used for controlling transmission voltages, reducing reactive losses, power flow and damping of power system oscillations for high power transfer levels. We are studies in this paper the STATCOM, the shunt operation of FACTS controller and how it helps in the better operating under normal condition. STATCOM can provide fast and efficient reactive power support to maintain power system voltage stability. Since the adjustment is autonomous, this gives the plug-and-play capability for STATCOM operation. STATCOM is used for reactive power compensation on electric transmission. A static synchronous compensator static compensator is a regulating device used on alternating current electricity transmission networks. STATCOM are less space requirement, optimum voltage platform, quick response time, large operational flexibility and excellent dynamic characteristics under various operating conditions.Keywords-Load bank, STATCOM, Reactive power compensation, Voltage stability, Adaptive control
