The influence of the methods of surface plastic deformation on the peculiarities of fatigue and corrosion: fatigue failure of alloy D16T

    Get PDF
The influence of surface plastic deformation obtained by shot-peening and roller burnishing on the fatigue, corrosion fatigue of an aluminum alloy D16T was investigated. The investigations of fatigue and corrosion fatigue were conducted on the specimens with working part: diameter - 10 mm and length - 55 mm in air, 3% NaCl solution and distilled water with complete immersion of specimen. The base of research in air was practically conducted to 107 cycles and in corrosion environment to 5×107 cycles. Surface plastic deformation increases fatigue limit (s-1) of alloy D16T on 30 %, and corrosion fatigue limit (s-1c) on 20 % after shot-peening and 50 % after roller burnishing. Mechanism and character of alloys fracture under conditions of fatigue and corrosion fatigue are analysed
