Attitudinal and behavioural determinants influencing decision makers when adopting integration technologies in local government
Over the last few years, the advent of innovative
or revolutionary integration technologies has
influenced pivotal decisions within top management
to strategically transform Local Government
Authorities (LGAs). These technologies may
represent a huge cost for adopting LGAs, but may
also offer the chance to achieve competitive
advantage through superior service delivery. With
the emergence of electronic Government (e-
Government), LGAs are turning to integration
technologies to fully automate and e-enable their
business processes and integrate their IT
infrastructures. While prior research on the adoption
of integration technologies in the private and public
domain has considered several determinants (e.g.
benefits, barriers, costs), little attention has been
given to investigate the attitudinal and behavioural
determinants influencing top managementâs decision
making process for the adoption of integration
technologies in LGAs. Notwithstanding, the
implications of this research have yet to be assessed,
leaving scope for timeliness and novel research.
Therefore, it is of high importance to investigate this
area within LGAs and contribute to the area of
strategic decision making by examining attitudinal
and behavioural determinants of top management in
relation to integration technologies adoption

Current state of e-services in Saudi Arabia: the case of intermediaries in facilitating government services in Madinah city
The government of Madinah has launched âKhdamatecâ electronic Offices (e-Offices) concept under their national electronic Government (e-Government) modernisation agenda to facilitate service delivery to citizens and seamless interaction to communicate their needs. By offering e-Offices around the government departments, Madinah government hopes to increase accessibility of e-Government services and make steps forward to electronic age, encourage Medina' citizens to participate and use e-Services and bridging digital divide. However, the empirical findings illustrate that the adoption and diffusion of the e-Office concept and e-Government in the wider context at a lethargic pace. This paper highlights some of the challenges faced by the Madinah city in implementing the e-Office concept and e-Government
Theory of the asymmetric ripple phase in achiral lipid membranes
We present a phenomenological theory of phase transitions in achiral lipid
membranes in terms of two coupled order parameters -- a scalar order parameter
describing lipid chain melting, and a vector order parameter describing the
tilt of the hydrocarbon chains below the chain-melting transition. Existing
theoretical models fail to account for all the observed features of the phase
diagram, in particular the detailed microstructure of the asymmetric ripple
phase lying between the fluid and the tilted gel phase. In contrast, our
two-component theory reproduces all the salient structural features of the
ripple phase, providing a unified description of the phase diagram and
microstructure
Phase behavior of two-component lipid membranes: theory and experiments
The structure of the ripple phase of phospholipid membranes remains poorly
understood in spite of a large number of theoretical studies, with many
experimentally established structural features of this phase unaccounted for.
In this article we present a phenomenological theory of phase transitions in
single- and two-component achiral lipid membranes in terms of two coupled order
parameters -- a scalar order parameter describing {\it lipid chain melting},
and a vector order parameter describing the {\it tilt of the hydrocarbon
chains} below the chain-melting transition. This model reproduces all the
salient structural features of the ripple phase, providing a unified
description of the phase diagram and microstructure. In addition, it predicts a
variant of this phase which does not seem to have been experimentally observed.
Using this model we have calculated generic phase diagrams of two-component
membranes. We have also determined the phase diagram of a two-component lipid
membrane from x-ray diffraction studies on aligned multilayers. This phase
diagram is found to be in good agreement with that calculated from the model.Comment: 10 pages, 10 figure
Comments on "New Brans-Dicke Wormholes"
It is shown that the recently claimed two new Brans-Dicke wormhole solutions
[F. He and S-W. Kim, Phys. Rev. D{\bf 65}, 084022 (2002)] are not really new
solutions. They are just the well known Brans-Dicke solutions of Class I and II
in a different conformal gauge.Comment: 4 page
Sickle cell nephropathy with diffuse proliferative lupus nephritis: a case report

Background

Sickle cell nephropathy (SCN) is an important cause of mortality in patients with sickle cell disease. SCA with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) is known in children and less common in adults, however diffuse proliferative lupus nephritis (DPLN) with SCN has rarely been reported in adults. It requires early diagnosis and aggressive management.

Case presentation

We present here a 35 years old lady with sickle cell disease who presented with edema, dyspnoea on exertion, pyuria and had raised s. creatinine of 7 mg%. Her biopsy revealed SCN with DPLN. She is on maintenance hemodialysis after 2 months of diagnosis.

Conclusion

DPLN with SCN is a rare entity with poor prognosis, which may be overlooked and needs aggressive management.</p
Quantum-interference-controlled three-terminal molecular transistors based on a single ring-shaped-molecule connected to graphene nanoribbon electrodes
We study all-carbon-hydrogen molecular transistors where zigzag graphene
nanoribbons play the role of three metallic electrodes connected to a
ring-shaped 18-annulene molecule. Using the nonequilibrium Green function
formalism combined with density functional theory, recently extended to
multiterminal devices, we show that the proposed nanostructures exhibit
exponentially small transmission when the source and drain electrodes are
attached in a configuration that ensures destructive interference of electron
paths around the ring. The third electrode, functioning either as an attached
infinite-impedance voltage probe or as an "air-bridge" top gate covering half
of molecular ring, introduces dephasing that brings the transistor into the
"on" state with its transmission in the latter case approaching the maximum
limit for a single conducting channel device. The current through the latter
device can also be controlled in the far-from-equilibrium regime by applying a
gate voltage.Comment: 5 pages, 4 color figures, PDFLaTeX, slightly expanded version of the

Job Anxiety and Occupational Stress among Employees of IT Sector: Impact on their Attitude towards Management
Information technology is the fastest growing sector in the country and the highest employer in the private sector. The fast-paced technological changes, the need to keep up with it and the huge workload puts enormous demands on the employees. They experience anxiety and stress at the workplace which affects, positively and negatively, their attitude towards their job and management. Hence, the study investigated the relationship between anxiety and stress experienced by the employees at the workplace and how each factor affects their attitude towards their management respectively. Since the study covered both male and female employees, hence similar nature of relationship between the variables was also examined separately for each gender
For this ex-post facto research, a convenience sample of 200 respondents through stratified sampling technique was chosen in 2019 from various IT firms in Hyderabad. The age of the respondents was between 24-36 years. The data for analysis was collected through 3 scales/ index viz. 1) Job Anxiety Scale by Dr. A. K. Srivastava 2) Occupational Stress Index by A K Srivastav and A P Singh 3) Attitude Scale for Measuring Employee Attitude Towards Management Attitude Scale for Measuring Employee Attitude Towards Management by Dr. K D Kapoor and a personal information sheet. Statistical tools of Pearson was applied to analyse the data.
The results of the study confirmed that occupational stress significantly and negatively predicted attitude towards management of the employees. But, on the contrary for job anxiety the relationship with employee attitude was found to be insignificant. The attitude towards management of female employees was found to be more significantly and negatively related to job anxiety and occupational stress respectively as compared to their male counterparts. This result belied the expectations. However, no interaction effect was observed between job anxiety and occupational stress while predicting attitude towards management. It is recommended that IT companies must design general and gender based intervention strategies to reduce job anxiety and occupational stress among employees
