Damping rate limitations for transverse dampers in large hadron colliders
The paper focuses on two issues important for design and operation of
bunch-by-bunch transverse damper in a very large hadron collider, where fast
damping is required to suppress beam instabilities and noise induced emittance
growth. The first issue is associated with kick variation along a bunch which
affects the damping of head-tail modes. The second issue is associated with
affect of damper noise on the instability threshold
Hydrodynamic fluctuations in relativistic superfluids
The Hamiltonian formulation of superfluids based on noncanonical Poisson
brackets is studied in detail. The assumption that the momentum density is
proportional to the flow of the conserved energy is shown to lead to the
covariant relativistic theory previously suggested by Khalatnikov, Lebedev and
Carter, and some potentials in this theory are given explicitly. We discuss
hydrodynamic fluctuations in the presence of dissipative effects and we derive
the corresponding set of hydrodynamic correlation functions. Kubo relations for
the transport coefficients are obtained.Comment: 13 pages, no figures, two references adde
When a C*-algebra is a coefficient algebra for a given endomorphism
The paper presents a criterion for a C*-algebra to be a coefficient algebra

Dynamical resurrection of the visibility in a Mach-Zehnder interferometer
We study a single-electron pulse injected into the chiral edge-state of a
quantum Hall device and subject to a capacitive Coulomb interaction. We find
that the scattered multi-particle state remains unentangled and hence can be
created itself by a suitable classical voltage-pulse . The application of
the inverse pulse corrects for the shake-up due to the interaction and
resurrects the original injected wave packet. We suggest an experiment with an
asymmetric Mach-Zehnder interferometer where the application of such pulses
manifests itself in an improved visibility.Comment: 4 pages, 1 figur
