Increase of the Effective Production of Crankshafts for Ship Engines

    Get PDF
The paper elaborates on the problem on theoretical and practical level. Results of research were used as a background during realization of this technology in company Vítkovice HEAVY MACHINERY A.S. Analysis of current manufacturing technology of the final product is described, its specification, reaching of economic benefits and realization methods. Geometrical and mathematical model of the crankshaft and adjusting algorithm of computer simulation were made to design the wireless measurement systems or crankshaft breathing, design of the steady’s control system and marine drives. This method eliminates eventual failures in time of realization, respectively minimizes costs in connection with repairs and modifications of the equipment during commissioning and testing. In conclusion, testing, verification of prototype functions of the steadies control system and comparative laboratory measurement with reality are described

    A Technique for Seabed Mining

The paper deals with the necessity to look for other potential uses of unconventional sources of raw materials to meet the growing needs of human society. The first part of the paper contains the overview of the materials located in seas and oceans. This part describes the alternatives of mining, the dredging systems for extreme depths and the functional structure of the hoisting mechanism for dredging as well. The second part of the paper describes the future prospects for the extraction of minerals from seas and oceans

Handling construction waste of building demolition

    No full text
Some building defects lead to their demolition. What about construction and demolition waste? According to the Waste Act 185/2001 Coll. and its amendment 223/2015 Coll., which comes into force on January 1, 2017, the production of waste has to be reduced because, as already stated in the amendment to Act No. 229/2014 Coll., the ban on landfilling of waste will apply from 2024 onwards. The main goals of waste management can thus be considered: Preventing or minimizing waste; Waste handling to be used as a secondary raw material - recycling, composting, combustion and the remaining waste to be dumped. Company AZS 98 s. r. o. was established, among other activities, also for the purpose of recycling construction and demolition waste. It operates 12 recycling centers throughout the Czech Republic and therefore we have selected it for a demonstration of the handling of construction and demolition waste in addressing the defects of the buildings

The human factor as a cause of failures in building structures

Human error can be defined as any unintentional or inadequate decision, taken at any level in the hierarchy of an organization, which is, or was inappropriate in a given situation. Human errors can occur in all human activities across an organization - at a managerial, conceptual or technical level – in connection with mistakes in the construction project itself, mistakes made by the investor, mistakes made by those using the building, mistakes in supplier relations, mistakes in the maintenance of the structure, and others. The factors that can affect the reliability of those people making the decisions that lead to the mistakes include the quality of their education, their experience with stress, or lack thereof, as well as issues such as workload, fatigue, workplace ergonomics, working hours, social climate and private matters

Adhesion Coefficient on the Limit of Slippage at Star-Up of the Manual Crane Trolley

Cranes are common handling devices used in construction, assembly and engineering plants. Bridge cranes with a suspended crane trolley (electric or manual operated hoist) are used in almost all engineering and service operations. The trouble-free operation of these devices depends on many factors; one of the parameters influencing the operation of crane trolleys (crane trucks) and crane bridges is adhesion. The presented paper describes the theoretical assumptions, experimental determination and verification of the coefficient of adhesion on the limit of slippage at starting of the manual crane trolley
