In Japan there were serious disasters as Kobe earthquake, EastJapan earthquake which caused not only human casualty but also economic destruction. The economic burden to recover from disaster is depending on Government bonds which are to be paid by the future generation. The Cat bonds is a kind of insurance which the present generation can pay in the occasion of catastrophe

    Not Everyone Was Asleep : Anti-Colonial Personifications of Antiquity and Progress in José Rizal\u27s Touch Me Not and El Filibusterismo

    The cultural emphasis placed on José Rizal’s execution in 1896 has overshadowed his life and renders his novels Touch Me Not and El Filibusterismo unfamiliar to Western readership and postcolonial scholars. Since his novels emphasize the difficult questions about the absence of progress and ethnic identity for the indigenous populace, I argue that to read them for plot alone is to overlook his main focus: the formation of the Filipino identity. In light of Spain’s historical treatment of its colonies, my work responds to the lack of attention given to Touch Me Not and El Filibusterismo as integral texts of 19th century nationalist discourse by underscoring the innovativeness of Rizal’s political goals for the Philippines. I utilize interdisciplinary inquiry of postcolonial and nationalist commentary to elucidate his anti-colonial stances through character and textual analyses. To assist my arguments, I consult the foundational postcolonial texts of Homi K. Bhabha, Frantz Fanon, Edward W. Said, and Gayatri Chakravorty Spivak, and the nationalist discourses of Benedict Anderson and Partha Chatterjee

    High-frequency audiometry has the potential to detect hearing impairment at its early stage. However, several problems prevent the clinical application of high-frequency audiometry. In this study, the dispersion and left-right difference in the high-frequency sensitivity were investigated in normal hearing volunteers. In our results, the difference between the left and right ears varied only slightly among individuals or age groups, while dispersion of hearing threshold values became marked with an increase in frequency. The results suggest that the measurement of left-right difference in high-frequency sensitivity may be useful for the evaluation of unilateral impairment. To investigate this usefulness, the left-right differences were measured in the patients complaining of unilateral cochlear symptom with normal hearing. Considering the results of normal hearing, we determined that abnormal left-right difference in high-frequency sensitivity was over 20 dB. In 12 patients with unilateral tinnitus, 7 showed left-right differences, and 6 had tinnitus in the ear with increased thresholds. Our results suggested a relationship between tinnitus with normal hearing and hearing impairment in the high-frequency range.博士(医学)・乙1335号・平成26年3月17

    Extraskeletal Osteosarcoma with Pulmonary Metastasis in a Female F344 Rat

    A subcutaneous mass in the right femoral region of a female F344 Slc/N rat was examined histopathologically. At 83 weeks of age, the animal showed symptoms of severe anemia and nasal bleeding. Necropsy revealed that the mass had invaded the skeletal muscles but did not affect the bones. Multicentric nodules were also observed in the lung. Histopathology revealed a sheet-like growth pattern of polygonal tumor cells with round or comma-shaped nuclei and pale eosinophilic cytoplasm. Osteoid tissue was observed in not only the original lesion but also the metastatic foci in the lung. Each tumor cell was surrounded by argentophil fibers and few collagen fibers. Immunohistochemically, the tumor cells were positive for proliferating cell nuclear antigen (PCNA), vimentin, osterix and osteocalcin, but negative for keratin, S-100, von Willebrand factor, CD-31, CD-34, desmin, α-smooth muscle actin, lysozyme, α1-antitrypsin and rat malignant fibrous histiocytoma (MFH) antigen. CD-68-positive cells were considered to be infiltrated macrophages because they were negative for PCNA. On the basis of these findings, we diagnosed the present case as extraskeletal osteosarcoma

    Background: Functional neuroimaging studies suggest that prefrontal cortex dysfunction is present in people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Near-infrared spectroscopy is a noninvasive optical tool for examining oxygenation and hemodynamic changes in the cerebral cortex by measuring changes in oxygenated hemoglobin. Methods: Twelve drug-naïve male participants, aged 7-15 years and diagnosed with ASD according to DSM-5 criteria, and 12 age- and intelligence quotient (IQ)-matched healthy control males participated in the present study after giving informed consent. Relative concentrations of oxyhemoglobin were measured with frontal probes every 0.1 s during the Stroop color-word task, using 24-channel near-infrared spectroscopy. Results: Oxyhemoglobin changes during the Stroop color-word task in the ASD group were significantly smaller than those in the control group at channels 12 and 13, located over the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex (FDR-corrected P: 0.0021-0.0063). Conclusion: The results suggest that male children with ASD have reduced prefrontal hemodynamic responses, measured with near-infrared spectroscopy.博士(医学)・乙第1442号・令和元年12月5日© The Author(s) 2019.
