    A survey on vehicular communication for cooperative truck platooning application

    Platooning is an application where a group of vehicles move one after each other in close proximity, acting jointly as a single physical system. The scope of platooning is to improve safety, reduce fuel consumption, and increase road use efficiency. Even if conceived several decades ago as a concept, based on the new progress in automation and vehicular networking platooning has attracted particular attention in the latest years and is expected to become of common implementation in the next future, at least for trucks.The platoon system is the result of a combination of multiple disciplines, from transportation, to automation, to electronics, to telecommunications. In this survey, we consider the platooning, and more specifically the platooning of trucks, from the point of view of wireless communications. Wireless communications are indeed a key element, since they allow the information to propagate within the convoy with an almost negligible delay and really making all vehicles acting as one. Scope of this paper is to present a comprehensive survey on connected vehicles for the platooning application, starting with an overview of the projects that are driving the development of this technology, followed by a brief overview of the current and upcoming vehicular networking architecture and standards, by a review of the main open issues related to wireless communications applied to platooning, and a discussion of security threats and privacy concerns. The survey will conclude with a discussion of the main areas that we consider still open and that can drive future research directions.(c) 2022 The Author(s). Published by Elsevier Inc.     A framework for interpreting experimental errors in VISIR

    Students usually do errors while performing experiments. In traditional, hands-on labs, instructors are able to help students surpass those errors. In non-traditional labs, like virtual labs or simulations, the support is usually provided by built-in mechanisms that prevent erroneous actions or that provide some sort of online assistance. In remote labs, like the Virtual Instruments Systems in Reality (VISIR) remote lab, the same principle applies. This paper describes the very initial stage of a framework for interpreting experimental errors done in VISIR. It considers the course syllabus of electrical circuits and situates the work done till the moment, in relation to that syllabus.     Tissue-Specific Decellularization Methods: Rationale and Strategies to Achieve Regenerative Compounds

    The extracellular matrix (ECM) is a complex network with multiple functions, including specific functions during tissue regeneration. Precisely, the properties of the ECM have been thoroughly used in tissue engineering and regenerative medicine research, aiming to restore the function of damaged or dysfunctional tissues. Tissue decellularization is gaining momentum as a technique to obtain potentially implantable decellularized extracellular matrix (dECM) with well-preserved key components. Interestingly, the tissue-specific dECM is becoming a feasible option to carry out regenerative medicine research, with multiple advantages compared to other approaches.     Dashboard for the VISIR remote lab

    The VISIR dashboard (VISIR-DB) is a learning analytics tool connected with the VISIR remote lab. In VISIR, every action performed by a student from the interface over the remote laboratory and back is logged and recorded. VISIR-DB helps visualizing, in a fast and deep way, the recorded logs from this communication. Using this tool, a teacher can analyze and understand better how the students are using the remote lab during their learning process on analog electronics.     Explorando la Implementación de un Laboratorio Remoto de Impresión 3D para la Enseñanza de las TIC

    El uso de las Tecnologías de la Información y la Comunicación, incluida la impresión 3D, es esencial en la vida moderna, pero su implementación en escuelas se enfrenta a limitaciones como el tiempo, el desperdicio de material y la accesibilidad. Los laboratorios remotos ofrecen una solución al brindar acceso a diversos recursos, mejorando la experiencia de aprendizaje para estudiantes. Se evaluó un laboratorio de impresión 3D proporcionado por LabsLand en centros de secundaria, utilizando un diseño pre/post test. Los resultados demostraron que el laboratorio remoto ayuda a los alumnos a comprender esta tecnología, especialmente en términos de orientación de impresión. La experiencia de usuario también fue medida y los estudiantes mostraron una gran satisfacción, lo que les ayudó a aprender mejor la tecnología. La integración de estos laboratorios remotos puede potenciar la educación en TIC en las escuelas y superar las limitaciones tradicionales

    Improving the use of remote laboratories. The case of VISIR at Universidad Nacional de Rosario

    The present work originates in the Project "Educational Modules for Electric and Electronic Circuits Theory and Practice following an Inquiry-based Teaching and Learning Methodology supported by VISIR", carried out with the support of the Erasmus+ Programme. Remote labs can provide a framework where physical experiments can be developed for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) education. Although remote labs have been in use for over a decade now in several countries and levels of education, their use is not yet being generalized in Latin America. Through the VISIR+ International Cooperation Project from the Erasmus+ Programme, five higher education institutions from Latin America have incorporated de VISIR remote lab in order to carry out experiments with electric and electronic circuits.     PILAR: a Federation of VISIR Remote Laboratory Systems for Educational Open Activities

    Social demands have promoted an educational approach based on an “anywhere and anytime” premise. Remote laboratories have emerged as the answer to the demands of technical educational areas for adapting themselves to this scenario. The result has not only benefit distance learning students but has provided new learning scenarios both for teachers and students as well as allowing a flexible approach to experimental topics. However, as any other solution for providing practical scenarios (hands-on labs, virtual labs or simulators), remote labs face several constraints inherited from the subsystems of its deployment hardware (real instruments, equipment and scenario) and software (analog/digital conversions, communications, workbenches, etc.). This paper describes the Erasmus+ project Platform Integration of Laboratories based on the Architecture of visiR (PILAR) which deals with several units of the federation installed in different educational institutions and devoted to analog electronics and electrical circuits. Based on the limitations of remote labs, the need for the federation will be justified and its benefits will be described by taking advantage of its strengths.
