Digital Legal Information: Ensuring Access to the Official Word of the Law

    Get PDF
In the United States today, digital versions of current decisions, bills, statutes, and regulations issued by federal and state entities are widely available on publicly accessible Internet Web sites. Worldwide, official legal information issued by international organizations and foreign governments is also becoming available on the Web. However, there are currently no standards for the production and authentication of digital documents. Moreover, the information is sometimes available only for a short time and then disappears from the site. Most of that digital information provides only a right of access, and no ownership, or control over the data, unless it is downloaded on a server, or stored on a CD. The long-term access to digital legal information is a matter of concern

    No full text
Multidrug resistance observed in microorganisms, especially in hospital-based pathogens, poses a serious public health threat. While scientists have not been able to develop a radical solution for the increasing antibiotic resistance problem, the search for treatment alternatives in appropriate clinical settings continues consistently. Although bacteriophage (phage) therapy was quite popular between 1920 and 1950, it has been abandoned in many parts of the world due to various reasons, nowadays it is again at the agenda and is at the forefront of alternative therapies. In this rediscovery process in area of infectious diseases and clinical microbiology, it is important to consider the interesting history of phage therapy, the reasons for abandonment, the advantages/disadvantages over antibiotics, and the concerns about deployment in clinical use
