Renormalization group flows for gauge theories in axial gauges
Gauge theories in axial gauges are studied using Exact Renormalisation Group flows. We introduce a background field in the infrared regulator, but not in the gauge fixing, in contrast to the usual background field gauge. It is shown how heat-kernel methods can be used to obtain approximate solutions to the flow and the corresponding Ward identities. Expansion schemes are discussed, which are not applicable in covariant gauges. As an application, we derive the one-loop effective action for covariantly constant field strength, and the one-loop beta-function for arbitrary regulator

The Implementation Of Sponsorship In Corporate Branding: A Case Study Of Turkish Airlines
The concept of sponsorship has evolved over the years from simply being a philanthropic activity to one of the key corporate communication and marketing communications strategies. This can merely be seen by looking at the expenditure of multinational corporations’ allocated budget figures for sponsorships. In particular, the biggest investment has and still goes to sport sponsorship deals as they have wide range of audience reach and mostly multi-national reach. One of the most important events is the Olympics, where millions of pounds are invested for sponsorship deals. Up until today, various studies have been conducted on to pinpoint the effect of sponsorship from different perspectives. Despite this, there is a dearth of study in terms of qualitative perspective, especially from the perspective of corporate communication managers’ ‘decision - making’ mechanism and procedure. To accomplish and contribute to the literature, this study uses Turkish Airline’s ‘Globally Yours’ campaign as a case study
Optimization of the derivative expansion in the nonperturbative renormalization group
We study the optimization of nonperturbative renormalization group equations
truncated both in fields and derivatives. On the example of the Ising model in
three dimensions, we show that the Principle of Minimal Sensitivity can be
unambiguously implemented at order of the derivative expansion.
This approach allows us to select optimized cut-off functions and to improve
the accuracy of the critical exponents and . The convergence of the
field expansion is also analyzed. We show in particular that its optimization

Molecular dynamic simulation of a homogeneous bcc -> hcp transition
We have performed molecular dynamic simulations of a Martensitic bcc->hcp
transformation in a homogeneous system. The system evolves into three
Martensitic variants, sharing a common nearest neighbor vector along a bcc
direction, plus an fcc region. Nucleation occurs locally, followed by
subsequent growth. We monitor the time-dependent scattering S(q,t) during the
transformation, and find anomalous, Brillouin zone-dependent scattering similar
to that observed experimentally in a number of systems above the transformation
temperature. This scattering is shown to be related to the elastic strain
associated with the transformation, and is not directly related to the phonon

Molar mass and solution conformation of branched alpha(1 - 4), alpha(1 - 6) Glucans. Part I: Glycogens in water
Solution molar masses and conformations of glycogens from different sources (rabbit, oyster, mussel and bovine) were analysed using sedimentation velocity in the analytical ultracentrifuge, size-exclusion chromatography coupled to multi-angle laser light scattering (SEC-MALLS), size-exclusion chromatography coupled to a differential pressure viscometer and dynamic light scattering. Rabbit, oyster and mussel glycogens consisted of one population of high molar mass (weight averages ranging from 4.6 x 106 to 1.1 x 107 g/mol) as demonstrated by sedimentation velocity and SEC-MALLS, whereas bovine glycogen had a bimodal distribution of significantly lower molar mass (1.0 x 105 and 4.5 x 105 g/mol). The spherical structure of all glycogen molecules was demonstrated in the slopes of the Mark-Houwink-Kuhn-Sakurada-type power-law relations for sedimentation coefficient (s20,wo), intrinsic viscosity ([η]), radius of gyration (rg,z) and radius of hydration (rH,z), respectively, and was further supported by the � (=rg,z/rH,z) function, the fractal dimension and the Perrin function. The degree of branching was estimated to be ∼10% from the shrinking factors, g′ (=[η]branched/[η]linear) and also h (=(f/fo)branched/(f/fo)linear), respectively, where (f/fo) is the translational frictional ratio, consistent with expectation. © 2007 Elsevier Ltd.
