Geomechanical modelling of Paleozoic Shale Gas Formation: a case study from the Baltic Basin, northern Poland

The article presents the importance and position of geomechanical modelling workflow in reservoir characterization studies dedicated to unconventional shale reservoirs. We show the results of 3D geomechanical modelling carried out in an onshore area within the Baltic Basin, northern Poland, where the Silurian and Ordovicianshale formations are the exploration targets. The fundamental elements of the methodology, processes, and available datasets used in the modelling are discussed. The petrophysical, elastic, and mechanic properties of the rock were applied in the modelling process, along with the principal stresses and pore pressure in the geological formation. Moreover, the main calculation methods and data requirements for the Mechanical Earth Model construction are discussed. A comprehensive 3D geomechanical model was constructed, providing important information to engineers and decision makers which allows them to optimize well placement, the direction of the horizontal section of the borehole and the parameters of hydraulic fracturing treatment. The model can identifyzones of higher potential within the area of interest in terms of efficient stimulation treatment design

The role of bronchoscopy in diagnosis of chronic cough in adults: a retrospective single-center study

Introduction: Cough is one of the most frequent symptoms reported to pulmonologists. The role of bronchoscopy in the diagnostic work-up of chronic cough is not clearly defined. The aim of this study was to evaluate the utility of fiberoptic bronchoscopy (FOB) and additional testing of samples collected during FOB in the differential diagnosis of chronic cough in adults.Material and methods: This was a single-center retrospective study. Out of 7115 conventional white light FOB examinations, we finally selected 198 with cough as the only indication.Results: In 40.9% of bronchoscopic examinations, no visible cause of cough was found. Visual signs of chronic bronchitis (CB) were detected in 57.6% of reports. Only in 3 cases (1.5%) bronchoscopy revealed a potential cause of chronic cough other than CB. Mycobacterium tuberculosis or other mycobacteria were spotted in none of the samples. In 91.1% of bronchoalveolar lavage (BAL) cytologic examinations, at least one cell count abnormality was detected, but only in case of increased percentage of eosinophils, it might be considered clinically relevant. In 53% of bacteriological culture results, at least one potentially pathogenic bacterium was isolated. Conclusions: The present study results strengthen the evidence that FOB combined with additional testing of airway specimens obtained during FOB is not a powerful tool in the differential diagnosis of chronic cough, and FOB as a diagnostic tool may be overused. The appropriate timing and decision regarding referral for FOB and additional testing of achieved material requires careful clinical consideration

Dlatego też poniżej podjęto próbę udzielenia odpowiedzi na pytania: czy bezpieczeństwo można definiować jako potrzebę i prawo człowieka? W artykule przedstawiono dwa różne podejścia do zagadnienia zwiększania rozdzielczości danych sejsmicznych. Pierwsze, omówione szczegółowo w artykule pt.: Dobór optymalnej rozdzielczości sekcji sejsmicznej na drodze analizy i modyfikacji charakterystyk spektralnych danych sejsmiki powierzchniowej i otworowej, pokazuje możliwości poszerzenia charakterystyki spektralnej pola falowego na drodze modyfikacji zapisu sejsmicznego z wykorzystaniem danych otworowych, natomiast drugie wykorzystuje możliwości manipulacji i doboru parametrów akwizycji, a szczególnie parametrów (krotności) sumowania.In the paper two different approaches to the issue of seismic resolution enhancement are presented. The first approach is discussed in detail in the paper: The choice of optimal resolution of seismic data for given geological objects through the application of borehole velocity measurement for spectral modification – where the possibility of broadening of wave field spectral characterization via modification of seismic data with the use of well log was presented. The second approach, utilizes the possibility of tuning of acquisition parameters, especially fold-coverage stacking parameters

Zaproponowaną nowatorską metodykę przetestowano na materiale modelowym (modele teoretyczne) oraz na rzeczywistych danych polowych z obszaru północno-wschodniej Polski.In the paper a new idea of application of shear waves velocity received from borehole measurements, are presented. Reflectivity function recovered from the above data, are used for the estimation of an operator of the spectral modification of compressional (longitudinal) seismic waves. Special attention is paid to the correlation of geological target parameters. Practical examples implemented on field materials registered in the area of shale formation in Poland confirm the usefulness of the proposed solution in current projects

Functioning of municipal (city) guards and the state of public security and order of the local community

Od momentu utworzenia pierwszych straży miejskich na podstawie ustawy o Policji z 1990 r. [8] straże gminne (miejskie) przeszły daleko idącą transformację. Zakres ich działania na rzecz społeczności lokalnej został znacznie rozszerzony, od realizacji zadań porządkowo-administracyjnych do realizacji zadań związanych z bezpieczeństwem i porządkiem publicznym. Choć terenem działania straży nadal jest teren gminy, której organy ją utworzyły (rada gminy), jej działania mają o wiele szerszy zasięg, mając na uwadze efekty jej funkcjonowania, szczególnie w zakresie bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego. Straż gminna (miejska), zarówno jako samodzielnie funkcjonujący podmiot, jak i współpracujący z innymi podmiotami, takimi jak Policja, straże pożarne, pogotowie ratunkowe czy też inne służby ratownicze, zajmuje istotne miejsce wśród podmiotów należących do systemu bezpieczeństwa i porządku publicznego, którego efekty funkcjonowania wychodzą daleko poza teren gminy i społeczności lokalnej.Since the establishment of the first city guards pursuant to the Police Act of 1990 [8], the municipal police (city guards) have undergone comprehensive transformations. The scope of their activities provided for the local community has been significantly extended, from the implementation of activities related to maintaining order and administrative tasks to the execution of tasks related to public safety and order. The main operating territory of the city guards remains the municipality whose bodies have established them (i.e. the commune council), and yet their activities are far more extensive than that, particularly if one takes into account the effects of their operation, especially in the field of public security and order. Both as an independent entity and in cooperation with other entities, such as the Police, the fire service, medical ambulance service or other emergency services, the municipal police (city guards) occupy an important position among entities that form a part of the public security and order system, the operational effects of which go far beyond the territory of the commune and the local community

VINE GROWING AND WINE PRODUCTION IN EGYPT IN THE NEW KINGDOM

The paper presents the essence of viticulture and wine production in Egypt during the New Kingdom from the Theban tomb decorations. Chapter I provides information about the collection and viticulture, wine production and the importance of wine in the Egyptian religion. In Chapter II discusses the various stages of harvest and wine production in the basis of the Theban tomb decorations, which is the main source of iconography in the study of everyday life and craft production in ancient Egypt. The last chapter is given a description of the storage of wine. In the first part of this chapter is a description of ceramic vessels for wine, in the next section of this chapter shows various security content with sealing.The work closes the directory representations in the tombs of the Theban and a summary and list of used literature.Praca przedstawia istotę uprawy winorośli i produkcji wina w Egipcie w okresie Nowego Państwa na podstawie dekoracji grobów tebańskich.
