Acquiring electric energy from the transport conveyor roller movement for distributed sensors network

    Get PDF
The paper presents the concept of installation of an electricity generator and en energy store inside a roller of belt or roller conveyor. Accordingly, the use of a generator-pulley does not require any structural changes to be made to an existing conveyor. In addition, the user will be able to power distributed sensors network for monitoring the operation of the belt conveyor anywhere on its route. © 2020 Krzysztof Mazurek et al., published by Sciendo.European Regional Development Fund under the project CEBIA-Tech [CZ.1.05/2.1.00/03.0089

The concept of a device for withdrawal of a powered roof support during the liquidation of a longwall panel is presented. This device is a part of the system developed by KOMAG for the withdrawal of a roof support from a row and its transportation in the liquidated longwall. The suggested solution significantly improves efficiency and safety of this process. The basic parameters of the device, a description of the design and principle of operation are presented. Strength properties of its basic components were estimated, taking into account the way the device operated during the withdrawal of the roof support. The paper describes the problems faced by engineers when designing the non-standard mining device, which is the UWZ-1device. The advantages of the discussed device are also presented.W publikacji przedstawiono koncepcję urządzenia do wybudowy sekcji obudowy zmechanizowanej w procesie likwidacji ściany wydobywczej.

Coronary disease in the past. An attempt at evaluating the dissertation by Jan Cenner "De angore pectoris" (1820) in the context of contemporary knowledge

Abstract: Following an abbreviated historical review of literature related to angina pectoris spanning the period from olden days to the beginning of the XIXth century, this paper analyses Jan Cenner's doctoral dissertation entitled "Dissertatio inauguralis medica de angore pectoris", written in Cracow, Poland in 1820. A conciliation of the information regarding coronary artery disease with the current state of medical understanding is made in a tabular form and an attempt at an assessment of treatment rules (including prevention, general non-specific therapy, local treatment, dietary management and the use of pharmacological agents) according to updated medical criteria follows. The authors' goal is an objective evaluation of the real scientific value of Cenner's work in light of nearly two centuries of progress in medical knowledge. Emphasis is placed on those diagnostic findings and therapeutic paths relating to coronary artery disease that are currently used in medical practice

Stand tests of a powered roof support after a long time of operation : case study

The process and results of stand tests on the powered support manufactured in 1996 are discussed. The tests were conducted at the KOMAG’s accredited testing laboratory, implementing an author’s testing program. After completion of the static strength, load bearing capacity and fatigue strength tests, the roof support was inspected and no mechanical damage to the basic components of the tested roof support was found. The recorded permanent deformations of the basic components of the roof support tested in 2020 were compared with the results of tests of the same roof support, conducted in 1996 (prototype tests) and 2009 (tests after modernisation), also at the KOMAG laboratory. Based on the results of tests conducted in 2020, it was shown that the current properties of the roof support meet the normative requirements. Therefore, the customer may decide to continue using them in other longwall panels.Omówiono przebieg i wyniki badań stanowiskowych sekcji obudowy zmechanizowanej wyprodukowanej 1996r. Badania wykonano w akredytowanym laboratorium badawczym ITG KOMAG, realizując autorski program badawczy.

Increasing Energy Efficiency in Well Drilling

    No full text
This article provides the results of the first attempt to substantiate the rates of energy consumption and energy savings during the well-drilling process. It is proposed to accept the electrical energy consumption rate as a planned indicator of consumption of resources in the production of a unit of work of a specified quality. For a comprehensive assessment of the efficiency of use of energy resources during production of similar or substitute work, we determined specific energy consumption (designed, planned, actual), which includes direct consumption of all energy types in the production of a unit of work for basic and auxiliary production and operational needs, including from the consumption volume of mentioned resources and energy supply. Classification of consumption rates of electrical energy according to its action period and size scale has been proposed. The composition and amount of energy consumption rates during well-drilling have been described. The technological, expedition, and group rates of electricity consumption for drilling wells during design, survey, and technological work were determined. Electricity input items in drilling operations have been determined. For the first time, a set of measures to reduce energy costs during drilling is shown. The diagram developed for assessment of well performance allows prediction of technological and expedition rates of electricity consumption. Its creation, knowledge/understanding, implementation, analysis, and assessment by means of telemetry will allow evaluation of energy consumption when simulating drilling operations with varying drilling parameters. It will also provide an opportunity to select optimal technological or expedition rates of electricity consumption, taking account of drilling components at each depth: maximum drilling rate under constant weight on bit or maximum penetration. Based on the diagram, organizational and technical measures are proposed to save energy resources and reduce their consumption. The proposed measures allow saving up to 30–40% on energy costs

Mining in underground plants is associated with high risk. Improving work safety and increasing the productivity of longwall systems in the mining industry is a problem considering many criteria. Safety aspects concern both the crew and the machinery. The KOMAG Institute of Mining Technology designed and manufactured a geometry monitoring system based on inclinometers that meet the requirements of the ATEX directive. Monitoring of the roof support geometry is used for the prevention of loss of roof stability: roof fall or/and cave-in. The system was tested on a real object in real conditions
