Extraction of titanium from low-grade ore with different leaching agents in autoclave
The progressive depletion of primary sources to obtain metals has led to the search for alternative sources for their recovery. In the particular case of titanium, titaniferous sands are a viable option for obtaining this metal. This paper presents the results of the dissolution of titanium from titaniferous sands of Buenos Aires province (Argentina) in a laboratory autoclave (450 mL of capacity). The operating parameters studied were as follows: different acids (HF, H2SO4 and mixtures of these acids); leaching agent concentration, 5–20% v/v; temperature, 75–150 â—¦C; time, 30–180 min; solid–liquid ratio, 0.9–3.6% w/v; stirring speed, 110–550 rpm. The obtained results indicate that the increase in the leaching agent(s) concentration, temperature and time of contact with the acid mixtures have a marked effect on the dissolution reaction of titanium. Optimal conditions to achieve 89% extraction of titanium were obtained by leaching at 123 â—¦C, 330 rpm, 80 min and 1.8% w/v with a mixture of 15% HF (v/v) and 10% H2SO4 (v/v).Fil: Rodriguez, Mario Humberto. Lixiviación ácida de licoo2 proveniente de libs: estudio termodinámico y del efecto de un agente reductor
This work shows the results of a comparative hydrometallurgical study of LiCoO2 leaching, obtained from the cathodesof spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), with HF and HF/H2O2. The operational parameters researched were H2O2 and HFconcentrations, solid-liquid ratio, stirring speed, temperature and reaction time. The experimental results indicated that the bestworking conditions, with dissolution values close to 100%, were 348 K, 330 rpm, 30 min, 8 g/L, HF 0.6 M and H2O2 0.7 M.Thermodynamic study of the dissociation of HF in aqueous solution and EH-pH diagrams for Li-H2O, Co-H2O and Li-Co-F-H2Osystems were performed. The results showed the feasibility of extracting and recovering metals contained in the sample. Keywords: LiCoO2, LIBs, reducing agent, thermodynamicFil: Pinna, Eliana Guadalupe. A new polymorph of GaAsO4
At room temperature, the compound GaAsO 4 (gallium arsenate) has a berlinite type structure (AlPO 4, P3 121) and it is the only normal pressure polymorph reported as occurring at all temperatures. By means of a gaseous phase route, GaAsO 4 was obtained in a structure homeotypic with α-cristobalite and was retained at room temperature. Structural Rietveld refinement of this new GaAsO 4 polymorph was performed based on space group C222 1 and refined lattice parameters are a = 7.0592 Ă…, b = 7.0893 Ă…, c = 7.0977 Ă…. Heating up to 1000°C the α-cristobalite homeotype transforms to the stable berlinite type structure and it would invert to the β-cristobalite homeotype at about 530°C.Fil: Tunez, Fernando Marcelo.
