In recent years, tourism businesses have had to face rapid changes brought about by modernisation, internationalisation, social changes, and the higher demands of tourists. These features have an impact on the current level of tourism services and determine the overall economic environment on the supply and demand side. To keep up with global and national competition and these new emerging processes, it is important for managers to discover and monitor how key global figures can have an impact on the future development of tourism units in the hopes to achieve further sustainability growth. Managers should adapt to the changing environment by using new methods and strategies that make tourism units sustainable for future generations. One of the main indicators measuring economic sustainability is gross domestic product, as it captures the market value of the measured services or goods in general. For this reason, it is worthwhile to determine what the interconnections with regard to gross domestic product and tourism variable are. Through this relationship, it is possible to evaluate the health of a certain economy of tourism that can serve as a viewpoint for the management of tourism businesses in a certain state. This research looks at the relationship between the chosen indicators from the tourism sectors of the Czech Republic and Norway. Its purpose is to identify the relationship between the chosen general economic indicators measuring tourism economic prosperity, such as overall gross domestic product for international travel expenditures within a 7-year period. The main aim of the research is to determine the relationship between the chosen indicators through comparison and trend analysis. The data will be examined in order to determine the relationship between the chosen variables, as well as the strength of the dependence of both variables. Based on these findings, further research may use gross domestic product as one of the crucial indicators for the measurement of economic sustainability with respect to its added value for tourism businesses and management

Economic sustainability as a future phenomenon: Moving towards a sustainable hotel industry

    Get PDF
The issue of sustainability is frequently discussed in relation to the tourism industry. This is as a consequence of the rapidly increasing demands of tourists and the fact that tourism is perceived as one of the driving forces behind economic growth in some destinations. This can lead to both positive and negative future impacts. The emergence and growing economic impact of tourism means that it is essential to devote research into the implementation of sustainability issues and measurement indicators with regards to future economic prosperity. Historically, one of the first needs of a tourist was the need for shelter against the elements. Nowadays, the understanding of what accommodation is has been extended to include comfort and relaxation. The pressure on the accommodation sector to apply sustainability measures in practice in order to adapt to changing demands and to protect its economic prosperity, is enormous. The aim of this study is to determine the relationship between the main economic sustainability indicators, gross domestic product, and the internal consumption of tourists in accommodation facilities. The hypothesis that a mutual relationship exists in the Czech Republic between gross domestic and the contribution of domestic and inbound tourism expenditure on accommodation, is tested through a correlation analysis. The results of this analysis were used to determine how urgent the need is to implement sustainability measures within the Czech accommodation sector and within the hotel industry. © 2016

The aim of this article is to examine the differences between individual regions in the various macroeconomic aspects, indicators such as occupancy, number of guests and in other areas so as to make clear what the expectations of the investor can realistically have when making investment decisions. The considered hypothesis based on mathematical economic model should be able to reflect regional differences in economic performance, geographic diversity and willingness to accept the average market price for average rented a room so that the investor can calculate with magnitudes as profitability and payback period within the variable investment-refresh cycle. Thus, this way considered model will reflect regional differences in the above aspects and subsequently generate monetary value that is necessary to verify the correctness of selected investments. In the period 2002-2013 amounted to revenue ratio of tourism income to the GDP in the Czech Republic was averaged 3.5%. This figure constitutes a significant share in the revenue budget and at the same time contributes 4.55% of total employment. These values clearly show the importance of the sector, which even the UNWTO expects to grow dynamically in the future. To choose a suitable investment plan, as well as in other sectors, is a complex process whose justification must be based on real economic indicators. The intention of the thesis is to find the useful indicators and verify their direct influence. The considered indicators are GDP, unemployment and average income of the selected region. Model considers to enhance these macroeconomic variables also with additional values, such as regional differences, infrastructural assumptions and other phenomena, such as the number of UNESCO monuments etc. (C) 2016 Published by Elsevier B.V

This paper represent the appropriate software support for Process Management, and those tools which are used in a whole range of Czech and world-class manufacturing production and non-manufacturing enterprises as well as in organizations and other public sector administration institutions. The innovation in the tuition process lies in the fact that this software is not used for modeling the processes within the university (the organization itself) ? but rather, that the students themselves model and analyze processes drawn from real-world praxis (working practices) in manufacturing production and non-manufacturing enterprises. The market forces of today?s business process (BP) development have begun to place an important emphasis on business process quality. Evidently, the quality of a business process model (BPM) highly influences the deployed business process. This motivated several researchers to propose metrics to evaluate the quality of BPM

    Get PDF
The part of research which is described in this article was focused on Performance Measurement of energy processes and approach especially of Czech production plants (defined below) to this area of interest. The main aim of the research was to check and describe the situation in the energy processes area of the Czech production plants, its managing and measuring. The aim of the article is to find and describe main impacts and actual approach of Czech industrial companies in energy processes performance measurement (energy prices and consumption analysis, actual level of performance measurement utilization in plant at all and directly in energy area, performance management (PM) methods utilization, KPÍs used). For these results outputs from quantitative research were used. As was found, the energy processes, as supporting processes to core ones, in the production plants are not mapped, described and summarized in one methodical document to be able to increase the effectiveness of managing and performance measurement. The performance measurement methods are not used for energy processes. Key Performance Indicators (KPÍs), which are included in the Performance Measurement System (PMS), are not stated, only the physical energy flow indicators are implemented in the local systems. This was (and actually is) represented by the energy prices variation, respectively its increasing, absence of the clear statement of the coal usage and mining, the pressure to consumption reduction, reducing CO2 and the needs of fast reaction in various energy medium using. © Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Belgrade

Optimization of manipulation logistics using data matrix codes

    Get PDF
In the paper we deal with optimization of manipulation logistics using Data Matrix codes. Our goal is scanning and decoding Data Matrix codes in real-time. We have designed and verified an efficient computer aided method for location of the Data Matrix codes. This method is also suited to real-time processing and has been verified on a test set of images taken from real industrial world. We have proposed a modified, computationally efficient local thresholding technique that uses local mean and variation under the sliding window. The proposed Data Matrix code localization algorithm utilizes the connecting of the adjoining points into the continuous regions and determining of the boundaries of the outer region and it works in two basic steps: localization of the Finder Pattern and verification of the Timing Pattern. Part of the algorithm deals also with the decoding of the Data Matrix code using external libraries. Data Matrix codes can be used to mark logistic units, parts, warehousing positions, but also for automated robot navigation. Because of their low cost, accuracy, speed, reliability, flexibility and efficiency, as well as the ability to write large amounts of data on a small area, they still have a great advantage in logistics.[KEGA MS SR 003TU Z-4/2016

An empirical analysis of tourist satisfaction: A case-study of Zlin-ZOO in the Czech Republic

    Get PDF
This paper aims to assess the mediating role of tourist satisfaction based on certain antecedents and consequences for the fa mous zoo of the Moravian region in the Czech Republic. Relatively, the overlooked segment of the hospitality sector, particularly, the recreation segment is addressed by taking the case of the aforementioned zoo to analyze the antecedents and consequences of tourist satisfaction fr om visitors’ viewpoints. Hence, the assessment of the mediating role of tourist satisfaction by taking the case of Zoo in the recreation segment is the novel aspect, due to its thorough investigation about the role of significant antecedents and consequences. Based on the primary da ta and application of the PLS-SEM, results indicated direct and indirect effects, the construct ‘emotion’ significantly affects tourist satisfaction as a direct effect. Tourist satisfaction also predicts the recommendation/WoM and corporate image significantly while only ‘emotion’ is signi ficant with respect to indirect effects. The study concludes that ‘emotion’ is an important antecedent for consideration, whilst recommendation/WoM, and corporate image are significant constructs of consequences related to tourist satisfaction. The study i mplications and limitations are considered whilst future research directions have been suggested in the end part of the paper. © 2020 Editura Universitatii din Oradea. Greening human resource management and employee commitment towards the environment: An interaction model

    Get PDF
In response to a greater environmental awareness, organizations are concerned more and more about the “greening” human resource management (GHRM). Although the literature on GHRM has been extending, published studies have paid little attention to the research of GHRM and its contribution to employee commitment towards the environment, especially the interactions of GHRM practices, so far. Thus, to bridge this research gap, this study extends the Ability-Motivation-Opportunity and the Social exchange theories in the green context by investigating a new conceptual framework, which explores the indirect and interactive effects of GHRM practices (training, reward, and organizational culture) on employee environmental commitment. A quantitative study is conducted through a survey involving 209 respondents. Findings suggest that: (1) three GHRM practices are important tools in stimulating directly employees to commit to the environmental activities, (2) a two-way interaction of green training and green organizational culture can unlock employee commitment for the environment, especially at the high and average levels of green organizational culture, (3) the commitment is also increased significantly through a three-way interaction, the two strongest effects are recognized with the conditions of high-green organizational culture and the average-and high-green reward, whereas (4) the interacting between green training and green reward is an unimportant factor in encouraging employee environmental attachment. © 2019 The Author(s).Internal Grant Agency of FaME TBU [IGA/FaME/2018/009]; La Trobe Business School, Australi

    Get PDF
This study attempts to provide basic understanding of tourism and sustainability based on the existing literature and provides research agenda for future work based on existing gaps. In the contemporary era, tourism is a fascinating aspect of our lives along with a lot of interrelated industries and complexed relationships. The literature indicates that antecedent dimensions of sustainable tourism (environmental, socio-cultural, and economic dimensions) are common and prevalent, however, this study invites to depart from the traditional dimensions and suggest to include two new dimensions of sustainability (infrastructural and technological dimensions). The study also suggests the assessment and validation criteria including structural equation modelling (SEM) in the development of sustainability indicators. These findings will be helpful to move towards developing comprehensive and exhaustive set of indicators by future researchers.Internal Grant Agency of FaME [IGA/FaME/2018/009
