A Novel Model Considered Mass and Energy Conservation for Both Liquid and Vapor in Adsorption Refrigeration System.

In this paper, we proposed a dynamic model for a two-bed adsorption refrigeration system. Different from most existing researches which assume saturation vaper pressure in each device, the proposed method models the pressure in each device by considering both the liquid and vaper content in the device. Therefore, it can be more accurate in describing the system response and more suitable for studying the system instrumentation. The components included in this system model are: adsorption bed, evaporator, condenser, expansion valve, and etc. Each device is modeled based on the energy and mass conservation. Furthermore, the adsorption phenomenon is modeled by the “Freundlich equation,†and “linear driving force model.†The phase change of the refrigerant in evaporator and condenser is modeled by Hertz-Knudsen theory. In a case study, the pressure of the adsorption bed during the adsorption process is estimated to be 0.7kPa by the proposed model, while it was 1.6kPa by conventional method which assuming saturated vapor pressure. The coefficient-of-performance of the adsorption system is estimated to be 0.246 by this model, 0.36 by conventional method, and 0.28 by experimental data. The proposed model can estimate system performance more accurate than the conventional method. Moreover, the proposed model also inspire a new instrumentation strategy for the adsorption system, in which the system efficiency is improved and the pressure surge is avoided

WLST: Weak Labels Guided Self-training for Weakly-supervised Domain Adaptation on 3D Object Detection

In the field of domain adaptation (DA) on 3D object detection, most of the work is dedicated to unsupervised domain adaptation (UDA). Yet, without any target annotations, the performance gap between the UDA approaches and the fully-supervised approach is still noticeable, which is impractical for real-world applications. On the other hand, weakly-supervised domain adaptation (WDA) is an underexplored yet practical task that only requires few labeling effort on the target domain. To improve the DA performance in a cost-effective way, we propose a general weak labels guided self-training framework, WLST, designed for WDA on 3D object detection. By incorporating autolabeler, which can generate 3D pseudo labels from 2D bounding boxes, into the existing self-training pipeline, our method is able to generate more robust and consistent pseudo labels that would benefit the training process on the target domain. Extensive experiments demonstrate the effectiveness, robustness, and detector-agnosticism of our WLST framework. Notably, it outperforms previous state-of-the-art methods on all evaluation tasks

Quantum Informational Dark Energy: Dark energy from forgetting

We suggest that dark energy has a quantum informational origin. Landauer's principle associated with the erasure of quantum information at a cosmic horizon implies the non-zero vacuum energy having effective negative pressure. Assuming the holographic principle, the minimum free energy condition, and the Gibbons-Hawking temperature for the cosmic event horizon we obtain the holographic dark energy with the parameter d1d\simeq 1, which is consistent with the current observational data. It is also shown that both the entanglement energy and the horizon energy can be related to Landauer's principle.Comment: revtex,8 pages, 2 figures more detailed arguments adde

The Impact of Self-Monitoring on Theory of Planned Behavior:Study of Web Portal Usage

With the prosperity of the Internet and WWW, lots of web sites have been raised. The eBusinessWeekly 2000 reported that “web portal” was with highly proportion (46.1%) among all kind of the websites; this reveals that web portal would be the place where Internet users visit most often. Since the Internet is widely popular, user’s perception to use such WWW technology was easy to understand. In this research, we study the personality trait of self-monitoring on the Internet web portal usage behavior. Thus, we focused on the concept of self-monitoring in exploring the attitude, web self-efficacy, intention and web portal usage to see the variation in this concept. The combined dataset shows that attitude toward web portal and web self-efficacy are significant impacted on intention, and actual web portal usage is significant influenced by both intention and web self-efficacy. Further, the differences between high self-monitoring (HSM) group and low self-monitoring (LSM) group are observed and have significant di inct in our research model, therefore two moderating hypotheses are both supported. Base on the research findings, conclusions and implications are discussed

Rollable multicolor display using electrically induced blueshift of a cholesteric reactive mesogen mixture

    Get PDF
Electrically controllable blueshift of the reflection band in a planar cholesteric reactive mesogen cell is observed. The responsible mechanism is electric-field-induced Helfrich deformation [J. Chem. Phys. 55, 839 (1971)]. The modified director configuration can be solidified by photopolymerizing the reactive mesogens when a voltage is applied. The correlation between the director configuration and optical properties is validated by the scanning electron microscope photos and the transmission spectra of a planar and an undulated cholesteric film. With masked curing at different voltages, a rollable multicolor display is demonstrated

The Impact of Customer Profile and Customer Participation on Customer Relationship Management Performance

There are two main sources of knowledge about customers: customer profile and customer participation. The companies use information technologies to analyze the customer profiles and extract tacit knowledge about customer via customer participation. The result of this experiment demonstrates that the use of customer profile improves customers’ perception on goods quality and increase the effectiveness of Customer Relationship Management (CRM). In addition, customer participation can improve customers’ perception on goods quality and enhance performance of CRM through perceived participation. The result indicates that the customer profiles and customer participation are two crucial factors for companies to maintain customer relationship

THE EFFECTS OF MIDSOLE CONSTRUCTION ON BOWLING DELIVERY

    Get PDF
The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of midsole construction on the mechanics of bowling delivery. Twelve participants performed five candle bowling ball deliveries in three footwear conditions (barefoot, traditional and modified with E-TPU). Both kinematic and kinetic analyses were conducted. The results of the barefoot condition showed hip, knee and ankle joints at 92.3 ± 9.9°, 133.0 ± 14.5°, and 111.6 ± 11.2°, respectively, which were not significantly different from the modified condition of 93.9 ± 9.9° (p =.289) 132.1 ± 14.5° (p =.758), and 117.7 ± 9.4° (p =.123). Also, no significant difference was found in peak vertical force to body weight ratio. These findings provide a preliminary understanding on the effects of footwear on bowling delivery. Future studies are warranted to evaluate 3D motion analysis with experienced bowlers at the bowling alley
