The quantum Bell-Ziv-Zakai bounds and Heisenberg limits for waveform estimation
We propose quantum versions of the Bell-Ziv-Zakai lower bounds on the error
in multiparameter estimation. As an application we consider measurement of a
time-varying optical phase signal with stationary Gaussian prior statistics and
a power law spectrum , with . With no other
assumptions, we show that the mean-square error has a lower bound scaling as
, where is the time-averaged mean photon
flux. Moreover, we show that this accuracy is achievable by sampling and
interpolation, for any . This bound is thus a rigorous generalization of
the Heisenberg limit, for measurement of a single unknown optical phase, to a
stochastically varying optical phase.Comment: 18 pages, 6 figures, comments welcom
Orbiter global positioning system design and Ku-band problem investigations, exhibit B, revision 1
The shuttle Ku-band Costas loop lock detector output signal appears to vary about the lock detection threshold (the lock detect flag is on and off) shortly after the carrier acquisition starts. Real time computer simulation was performed to obtain the signal output from the low pass filter of the lock detector. Based on this simulation, it appears that the oscillation of in-lock and out-lock is related to tracking process and is not caused by the sweep acquisition algorithm
Constraints on the density dependence of the symmetry energy
Collisions involving 112Sn and 124Sn nuclei have been simulated with the
improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics transport model. The results of the
calculations reproduce isospin diffusion data from two different observables
and the ratios of neutron and proton spectra. By comparing these data to
calculations performed over a range of symmetry energies at saturation density
and different representations of the density dependence of the symmetry energy,
constraints on the density dependence of the symmetry energy at sub-normal
density are obtained. Results from present work are compared to constraints put
forward in other recent analysis.Comment: 8 pages, 4 figures, accepted for publication in Phy. Rev. Let
