TEMPORAL USES OF TRƯỚC AND SAU: AN ANALYSIS OF TEMPORAL FRAMES OF REFERENCE IN VIETNAMESE
This paper aims at studying the temporal meanings of trÆ°á»›c and sau in Vietnamese concerning temporal frames of reference. These words are respectively to FRONT and BEHIND terms. They originally mean spatial directions with a deictic center. When being transferred to the domain of time, they appear in three situations: 1. Expressing the ‘future/past’ meanings correlating with an absolute frame of reference which motivates both dynamic and static temporal events, the orientation of the absolute frame of reference in Vietnamese is provided by the arrow of time; 2. Expressing the ‘past/future’ meanings correlating with an intrinsic frame of reference, this frame of reference applies for binary temporal relations which encompass deictic events and earlier/later relations, FRONT is mapped onto the past in both cases.; 3. Expressing ternary temporal relations correlating with a relative frame of reference: we argue that two variants of the relative frame of reference proposed by Bender and colleagues [1, 2] cannot be applied to describe ternary temporal relations in Vietnamese. In this language, if G occurs in the future, FRONT is assigned to the past of G which is the V’s future, and BEHIND to G’s future, whereas if G occurs in the past, FRONT is assigned to the G’s past, and BEHIND to G’s future which is also Ego’s past. The only difference between the intrinsic and the relative frame of reference in Vietnamese, therefore, is whether or not the Ground coincides with the Ego.
INVENTORY MANAGEMENT: RAW MATERIALS FOR SMALL ENTERPRISE
This community service is an activity related to community economic empowerment through understanding the supplies of raw materials. Problems that arise on the supply of raw materials requires capital and affect submission to the customer. In order to support the efforts of the economic empowerment of the community outreach and training about the usefulness of the inventory of raw materials through the citizens who live in the village of partners will help citizens find out how partners do materials inventory management to improve the welfare of society. For that these activities would provide mentoring and training skills inventory management of raw materials, in order to be later able to apply them in the activities of partners to manage its business. External expected can be realized from this activity are: (1) the development of raw material inventory management knowledge on the citizens of the Small Enterprise. (2) the formation of social groups care inventory management on Small Enterprise
Real-time Human Detection in Fire Scenarios using Infrared and Thermal Imaging Fusion
Fire is considered one of the most serious threats to human lives which
results in a high probability of fatalities. Those severe consequences stem
from the heavy smoke emitted from a fire that mostly restricts the visibility
of escaping victims and rescuing squad. In such hazardous circumstances, the
use of a vision-based human detection system is able to improve the ability to
save more lives. To this end, a thermal and infrared imaging fusion strategy
based on multiple cameras for human detection in low-visibility scenarios
caused by smoke is proposed in this paper. By processing with multiple cameras,
vital information can be gathered to generate more useful features for human
detection. Firstly, the cameras are calibrated using a Light Heating
Chessboard. Afterward, the features extracted from the input images are merged
prior to being passed through a lightweight deep neural network to perform the
human detection task. The experiments conducted on an NVIDIA Jetson Nano
computer demonstrated that the proposed method can process with reasonable
speed and can achieve favorable performance with a [email protected] of 95%.Comment: 5 pages, 6 figures, 2 table
On the Nehari manifold for a logarithmic fractional Schrödinger equation with possibly vanishing potentials
summary:We study a class of logarithmic fractional Schrödinger equations with possibly vanishing potentials. By using the fibrering maps and the Nehari manifold we obtain the existence of at least one nontrivial solution
ONLINE EDUCATION DURING THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC - OPPORTUNITIES AND CHALLENGES: A CASE STUDY IN THE SOUTH OF VIETNAM
The Covid-19 pandemic has led all Vietnamese students to study at home since 2021. Therefore, a number of universities in Vietnam have shifted to online learning platforms to keep their academic activities going. The challenge is whether learners can absorb all knowledge through online learning? Between the two learning platforms, traditional and modern, what will be the impact on learners? and what needs to change in teachers? Therefore, in order to have an overview and partly clarify the questions of education 4.0, the authors carried out this research among 200 Vietnamese students to highlight the significance of online education. The results indicated that the majority of the respondents (91%) are willing to online classes to manage their studies during a time of the global pandemic. The respondents claimed that the convenience and flexibility of online classrooms make it the right option while students’ self-discipline and broadband connectivity matters in rural areas make it a challenge for most students when taking advantage of online classrooms. Article visualizations
