Estudo comparativo da qualidade de vida antes e após a reabilitação com implantes dentários

Dissertação para obtenção do grau de Mestre no Instituto Universitário Egas MonizObjectivos: Avaliar a alteração da qualidade de vida após reabilitação com implantes dentários através das comparações dos valores obtidos antes e após a mesma, assim como dos valores obtidos consoante o tipo de reabilitação a que os pacientes foram submetidos (parcial unitária, parcial múltipla ou total). Materiais e Métodos: A amostra por conveniência foi constituída por 23 utentes da Clínica Dentária Egas Moniz, com idade igual ou superior a 18 anos e indicação para reabilitação através de implantes dentários. Foi aplicado um questionário com perguntas acerca das suas características sociodemográficas e saúde oral. Para medir a autopercepção foi utilizado o OHIP-14 (Oral Health Impact Profile), cuja versão portuguesa se encontra validada. A análise estatística foi feita recorrendo a medidas de frequência, estatística descritiva e analítica, tendo sido utilizados os testes de Wilcoxon e Kruskal-Wallis, com um nível de significância de 5% (p ≤ 0,05). Resultados: A média de idades da população estudada foi de 51,87 anos (±15,53), sendo esta caracterizada por ser predominantemente do sexo feminino, casada, activa e com nível de escolaridade secundário. A média do OHIP-14 antes da reabilitação foi de 18,78 (±11) e o domínio mais afectado o “desconforto psicológico”. A média pós-reabilitação foi de 2,5 (± 2,1). Verificou-se uma melhoria da qualidade de vida com a reabilitação através de implantes, não só numa perspectiva geral como em cada domínio. A maior variação da qualidade de vida foi observada para as reabilitações totais, mas os valores médios obtidos não foram significativamente diferentes. Conclusão: Existiram melhorias significativas na qualidade de vida através da reabilitação com implantes.Objectives: To identify the changes regarding quality of life after rehabilitation with dental implants through comparison of index values before and after it, as well as comparing the values’ change by type of prosthetic rehabilitation. Materials and Methods: The sample included 23 users aged 18 years over from the Egas Moniz Dental Clinic designated for rehabilitation with dental implants. A questionnaire was applied to allow the profiling of socio-demographic and oral health characteristics. The OHIP-14 (Oral Health Impact Profile) translated and validated for Portuguese was used to measure self-perception. Statistical analysis was performed by using measures of frequency, descriptive and analytical statistics. The Wilcoxon and Kruskal-Wallis tests were used with a p ≤ 0,05 significance level. Results: The sample’s mean age was 51,87 years old (±15,53), being characterized predominantly by the female gender, married, with an active status and a high school level of education. The OHIP-14 mean before the placement of dental implants was 18,78 (±11) and the most affected domain was “psychological discomfort”. The verified mean for the OHIP-14 Index after rehabilitation with dental implants was 2,5 (± 2,1). An improvement of the quality of life was observed not only in a general way but also in each domain. The biggest change observed regarding the quality of life was perceived in patients rehabilitated with complete prosthetics though the obtained values weren’t significantly different. Conclusion: There were significant improvements on their quality of life through rehabilitation with dental implants
