    Family and Store Choice - A Conceptual Framework

    Retail Store choice has traditionally been studied from the perspective of an individual. The retail offering is however consumed more by the family than by an individual. This study questions the study of store choice by an individual and argues that the family is the relevant unit of analysis. The study draws on the extensive literature available on store choice and also on the family decision making for products and services. It identifies the key factors from the literature, which might be affecting the store choice of a family. On the basis of these factors, it proposes a conceptual framework for studying the retail store choice as a family decision.

    MYRISTICA FRAGRANS: A COMPREHENSIVE REVIEW

    Myristica fragrans is a spreading tree, growing 9-12 m high, chiefly cultivated in Maluku region of Indonesia, known as the Spice Islands in earlier times. Caribbean islands of Grenada and Trinidad are also influential in growing this aromatic tree commercially. It belongs to Myristicaceae family and is the source of two spices, nutmeg (Jaiphal) and mace (Javitri). Nutmeg is the seed kernel inside the fruit and mace is the fleshy red, net-like skin covering (aril) on the kernel. Further, studies divulge the occurrence of different chemical constituents like Myristicin, Macelignan and Eugenol (4-allyl-2-methoxyphenol). Nutmeg possesses various pharmacological activities like hepato protective activity, anti-oxidant activity, memory enhancing activity, cytotoxicity, aphrodisiac activity, anti-diabetic activity, anti-depressant activity, hypolipidemic and hypocholesterolemic effect, anti-microbial activity, antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, anti-carcinogenic activity, flavouring properties and pesticidal activity. This article reviews various pharmacological properties of this medicinal plant.Â

    Recurrent pregnancy loss (RPL) is a significant clinical problem that may occur before the 20th week of gestation. There is no general consensus on how many consecutive abortions are considered as RPL. The goal of this study is to investigate the correlation between recurrent miscarriage (RM) and common polymorphisms in angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE), plasminogen activator inhibitor 1 (PAI-1) and Methylenetetrahydrofolate Reductase (MTHFR) genes among women experiencing RM. The literature existing in different population was searched and based on these finding we conclude that polymorphism in either one of these genes may increase chances of miscarriage.     Bandwidth Allocation Based on Traffic Load and Interference in IEEE 802.16 Mesh Networks

    This paper introduces a traffic load and interference based bandwidth allocation (TLIBA) scheme for wireless mesh network (WMN) that improves the delay and throughput performance by proper utilization of assigned bandwidth. The bandwidth is allocated based jointly on traffic load and interference. Then a suitable path is selected based upon the least routing metric (RM) value. Simulation results are presented to demonstrate the effectiveness of the proposed approach which indicates higher bandwidth utilization and throughput as compared with existing fair end-to-end bandwidth allocation (FEBA)

    Rare Axillary Sebaceous Cyst Carcinoma: A Case Report with review of literature

    Introduction: Sebaceous Cyst carcinoma (SCC) is a rare aggressive skin cancer derived from the epithelium of sebaceous glands. Sebaceous cyst carcinoma accounts to 1% of cutaneous malignancy. Sebaceous cyst carcinomas are generally divided into those occurring in ocular (75%) or extraocular locations. SCC is very rare in axilla and confused with secondaries from breast carcinoma or lymphoma.Presentation of the case: Here we are presenting a case of 38 year old male, who presented with painless, progressive swelling on left axilla from one year. He was evaluated with ultrasound breast and axilla and a fine needle ultrasound from the swelling. The FNA of ulcerated lesion in the left axilla showed positive malignant epithelial cells. The tumour cells display oval hyperchromatic to vesicular nuclei with moderate nuclear pleomorphism, conspicuous nucleoli in places and scant cytoplasm. The tumour cells are strongly immunoreactive for CK7, EMA, and CD10, weakly and focally reactive for CK20, and non-reactive for vimentin.Conclusion: In conclusion, Sebaceous Cell Carcinoma is a rare and aggressive malignancy. The fumigating mass in the axilla may rarely be a sebaceous cyst carcinoma, may present with or without breast lump, prognosis is very poor therefore should be treated aggressively and adequately

    A clinical profile of liver function tests in COVID-19 patients at tertiary care centre from north India

    Background: The coronavirus is a large group of virus, which spread rapidly as an epidemic in china and was named initially as 2019 novel corona virus and subsequently named as Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) by World Health Organization (WHO). Severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) has led to a dramatic loss of human life globally and manifests a variety of clinical symptoms varying from fever, cough, headache, myalgias, nausea, vomiting to more severe pneumonia, ARDS, septic shock and multiorgan failure. SARS-CoV-2, primarily affect respiratory system but COVID-19 patients also have varying levels of liver injuries or liver dysfunction. This retrospective study was designed to analyze the clinical features, liver function and duration of hospital stay with confirmed cases of covid-19 in a tertiary care centre.Methods: We conducted a cross-sectional study in the Isolation ward, Level -2 Covid Hospital, Government Medical College, Kannauj, Uttar Pradesh (India), from April to June 2021. A detailed history and examination was carried out as per the pre-designed proforma. The liver function test included alanine transaminase (ALT), aspartate aminotransferase (AST), alkaline phosphatase (ALP) and total bilirubin. Patients were considered with abnormal LFTs when any value of these tests was higher than upper limit of normal.Results: One hundred and ten patients with covid-19 were enrolled during the study period. There were 74 males (67.2%) and 36 (32.7%) females.  The mean age of study population was 49.07±12.05 years. In present study, the mean value of serum bilirubin, SGPT, SGOT and ALP were 0.85±0.47 mg/dl, 74.6±66.9 IU/L, 48.45±36.86 IU/L and 229.25±69.79 IU/L, respectively. In present study, the abnormal liver function was seen in 67.2 % cases with COVID-19 patients. The mean duration of hospital stay among normal LFT and abnormal LFT patients group were 13.33±2.12 and 17.10±2.07 days, respectively.Conclusions: The present study highlighted that abnormal liver function was observed in 67.2% cases with COVID-19 patients. Further research should focus on the cause of liver injury in covid 19 and on treatment and outcome

    Phase diagram of a strongly disordered s-wave superconductor, NbN, close to the metal-insulator transition

    We present a phase diagram as a function of disorder in three-dimensional NbN thin films, as the system enters the critical disorder for the destruction of the superconducting state. The superconducting state is investigated using a combination of magnetotransport and tunneling spectroscopy measurements. Our studies reveal 3 different disorder regimes. At low disorder the (k_{F}l~10-4), the system follows the mean field Bardeen-Cooper-Schrieffer behavior where the superconducting energy gap vanishes at the temperature where electrical resistance appears. For stronger disorder (k_{F}l<4) a "pseudogap" state emerges where a gap in the electronic spectrum persists up to temperatures much higher than Tc, suggesting that Cooper pairs continue to exist in the system even after the zero resistance state is destroyed. Finally, very strongly disordered samples (k_{F}l<1) exhibit a pronounced magnetoresistance peak at low temperatures, suggesting that localized Cooper pairs continue to survive in the system even after the global superconducting ground state is completely destroyed.Comment: pdf file with figures (Modified Version

    Influence of Integrated Nutrient Management on growth, yield and quality of tissue cultured banana (Musa × paradisiaca) cv Grand Naine

    To examine the influence of integrated nutrient management on growth, yield and quality of tissue cultured banana (Musa × paradisiaca L.) cv Grand Naine, a study was conducted during 2010-11 in the Department of Horticulture, C S Azad University of Agriculture and Technology, Kanpur (UP), India. The experiment was laid out in randomized block design with three replications and ten treatments. It was recorded that the height of pseudostem (150.27 cm), girth of pseudostem (67.98 cm), total number of leaves (34.66), total number of functional leaves at the time of emergence of inflorescence (17.33), length of inflorescence (118.50 cm) were maximum in the plants supplied with 100% RDF of NPK+50 g Azospirillum+50 g PSB+50g Trichoderma harzianum per plant with earliness in flowering (253.33 days) and flowering to harvesting of bunch (110.00 days) as compared to others. Same treatment also resulted maximum bunch weight (24.50 kg), number of fingers per hand (19.33) and per bunch (160.00), number of hands per bunch (8.33), finger weight (140.00 g), length (20.33 cm), diameter (15.20 cm), TSS (19.26 0Brix), total sugars (18.66%), pulp percentage (82.17%) and pulp:peel ratio (4.60) with reduced peel percentage (17.83%) and titratable acidity (0.40%)
