    A Robust and Low Complexity Deep Learning Model for Remote Sensing Image Classification

    In this paper, we present a robust and low complexity deep learning model for Remote Sensing Image Classification (RSIC), the task of identifying the scene of a remote sensing image. In particular, we firstly evaluate different low complexity and benchmark deep neural networks: MobileNetV1, MobileNetV2, NASNetMobile, and EfficientNetB0, which present the number of trainable parameters lower than 5 Million (M). After indicating best network architecture, we further improve the network performance by applying attention schemes to multiple feature maps extracted from middle layers of the network. To deal with the issue of increasing the model footprint as using attention schemes, we apply the quantization technique to satisfies the number trainable parameter of the model lower than 5 M. By conducting extensive experiments on the benchmark datasets NWPU-RESISC45, we achieve a robust and low-complexity model, which is very competitive to the state-of-the-art systems and potential for real-life applications on edge devices.Comment: 8 page

The article explores the vocative words system in the language of the Tay people in Tuyen Quang Province, Vietnam and concludes that culture is not only a factor that generates language, but also an environment for language to exist and develop. develop.     Para-Social Interaction and Trust in Live-Streaming Sellers

    Live streaming is one of the modern methods that allows sellers to create, transmit, or broadcast some content on the internet in real-time, and it has been used by many small individual merchants. Understanding how live streaming contributes to online consumption is becoming increasingly important in social commerce as the live-streaming industry has grown more and more popular. However, the number of studies on live streaming is still quite limited in Vietnam. Therefore, this research will look at the mechanism that enables live streaming to boost customer trust in streamers. Using PLS-SEM on a sample of 360 respondents who viewed selling live streams on social network sites in Vietnam, we discovered that other members' endorsement, value similarity, hedonic value, and utilitarian value contribute to good para-social interaction. Next, utilitarian and hedonic values, streamer product expertise, and para-social interaction all positively affect trust in the streamers.     Genetic characteristics of Panax vietnamensis Ha & Grushv. populations based on ssr

    The results of genetic analysis of two Panax vietnamensis populations, collected in Tac-ngo ginseng garden, Tra Linh commune, Quang Nam Province and Mang ri ginseng garden, Kon Tum Province, showed that the population of ngoc linh ginseng in Quang Nam has higher alen frequency compared to the Ngoc Linh ginseng population in Kon Tum (AR = 2.27 AR = 2.05). The population of ngoc linh ginseng in Quang Nam has the expected heterozygous frequency (He) higher than the expected heterozygous frequency of the ginseng population in Kon Tum (0.42 0.4). The observed heterozygous frequency (Ho) of the ngoc linh population in Quang Nam was also higher than the observed heterozygous frequency compared to the ngoc linh ginseng population in Kon Tum (0.49 0.43). These results demonstrated that both populations of ngoc linh ginseng in Quang Nam and Kon Tum are maintaining high heterozygous frequencies; self-pollination has not affected to the genetic structure of these both populations yet. However, the population of ngoc linh ginseng in Quang Nam showed a higher level of diversity and heterozygous frequency than the ngoc linh ginseng population in Kon Tum.

    Impact of a pharmacist-led palliative care education program focused on the appropriate use of opioids in Vietnam

    Providing palliative care service involves ensuring adequate pain control, which may necessitate the use of opioids. Vietnam has a long history of limited availability of opioids, resulting in healthcare providers’ inexperience and discomfort with prescribing them. This leads to unnecessary patients suffering due to undertreatment of pain. This cross-sectional study examined the impact of the first pharmacist-led online education program in a university hospital in Vietnam on learners’ knowledge and perceived confidence in managing opioids for analgesia in the palliative care setting. Participants filled out a voluntary survey utilizing a five-point Likert scale, within one week of completing the program. We used descriptive statistics and multiple linear regression models to analyze the data. Of the 480 participants enrolled, 28.3% completed the post-course survey. On a scale of 1 to 5, participants reported positive scores in all endpoints, with a mean score ranging from 3.57±0.99 to 3.96±0.83. Significant improvement was seen in confidence with using opioids after the course (p<0.001). Increased confidence was positively correlated with improvement in knowledge of palliative care (p=0.035), weighing the benefits versus risks of using opioids (p=0.044), and recognizing of barriers to opioid accessibility (p=0.032). The program resulted in high satisfaction in the quality of the education, with a mean score of 4.44±0.66. In conclusion, an online palliative care education program focused on the safe and effective use of opioids in the palliative care setting was significantly effective at improving knowledge and confidence among Vietnamese healthcare providers

    NONLINEAR CHARACTERISTICS OF SQUARE SOLID-CORE PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBERS WITH VARIOUS LATTICE PARAMETERS IN THE CLADDING

    Nonlinear characteristics of fused silica, solid-core photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) with a square array of air holes are studied numerically. We present a novel design that emphasizes the difference in air hole diameters in the photonic cladding. These PCFs have the advantages of flat dispersion, high nonlinearity, and low attenuation. Based on simulation results, three optimal structures, denoted #F1, #F2, and #F3, having anomalous and all-normal dispersions in the near-infrared range are selected to investigate characteristic properties at the pump wavelength. Such PCFs open up many possibilities for nonlinear optical applications, especially supercontinuum generation

    INFLUENCE OF STRUCTURAL PARAMETERS ON OPTICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF PHOTONIC CRYSTAL FIBERS WITH CIRCULAR LATTICE

    We demonstrate in this study that near-zero, ultra-flattened chromatic dispersion can be achieved over a wide range of wavelengths in photonic crystal fibers (PCFs) by means of slight variations in the geometrical parameters of the cladding. To do that, a new solid-core circular PCF design with various air hole diameters and lattice constants is presented, and the design features are numerically analyzed in detail. After 40 simulations, we determined three structures that possess optimal dispersion with the following lattice constants (Ʌ) and filling factors for the first ring (d1/Ʌ): Ʌ = 0.8 µm, d1/Ʌ = 0.45 for #F1, Ʌ = 0.9 µm, d1/Ʌ = 0.45 for #F2, and Ʌ = 1.0 µm, d1/Ʌ = 0.45 for #F3. High nonlinearity and low attenuation are outstanding features of our model. With these advantages, the proposed fibers are targeted for smooth flat broadband supercontinuum generation for near-infrared applications

    Chemical Components of Essential Oils From the Leaves of Seven Species Belonging to Rutaceae Family from Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve, Vietnam

    Several plant species of the Rutaceae family are medicinal plants, oil bearing and food crops. To provide more information for utilization of some species of this family in Binh Chau-Phuoc Buu Nature Reserve, we extracted essential oils from the leaves of seven species of the Rutaceae family: Acronychia pedunculata (L.) Miq., Atalantia citroides Pierre ex Guillaumin, Clausena excavata Burm.f., Glycosmis pentaphylla (Retz.) DC., Luvunga scandens (Roxb.) Buch.-Ham. ex Wight & Arn, Melicope pteleifolia (Champ. ex Benth.) T.G. Hartley, and Micromelum sp., via hydrodistillation, and identified their components using GC/MS analysis. A total of 60 compounds were identified from essential oils of seven species. The main components of the essential oils isolated from five species, including A. pedunculata, C. excavata, M. pteleifolia, G. pentaphylla, and Micromelum sp., were caryophyllene (57.63% and 55.41% in A. pedunculata and C. excavata, respectively), 1,9-decadiyne (32.59%, M. pteleifolia), β-ocimene (23.10%, G. pentaphylla), and 3-carene (58.03%, Micromelum sp.). Additionally, this study revealed the chemical composition of essential oils of L. scandens and A. citroides for the first time. The main constituent of A. citroides was 7-oxabicyclo[4.1.0] heptane, 3-oxiranyl- (53.91%) and that of L. scandens was caryophyllene (34.66%). These findings provide the basis for further application of these species in medicine

    Impact Assessment of Poverty Reduction Programs of Ho Chi Minh City in Vietnam

    The main purpose of this report is to measure the impact of poverty reduction programs and policies of Ho Chi Minh City – the biggest city in Vietnam - in the period 2009-2013 using both quantitative and quality methods. In general, poverty reduction programs have positive impacts on living conditions of poor households. Having access to these programs enables poor/near-poor households to increase income and have better access to decent jobs. In addition, tuition-fee reduction and exemption and health insurance programs help households reduce education and medical expenses. However, there are a number of problems such as limited support fund and poor awareness of the poor/near-poor about the vocational training, unreasonable support mechanism and inconsistency in line departments’ coordination

    Effect of light-touch intervention and associated factors to microbial contamination at small-scale pig slaughterhouses and traditional pork shops in Vietnam

    Traditional pork value chains dominate the production and distribution of pork in Vietnam; however, the high level of microbiological contamination in pork may increase the risk of food-borne disease for consumers. There is limited evidence about how to feasibly and scalably reduce microbial contamination in pork sold in traditional markets. This study aimed to assess the effectiveness of light-touch interventions for changing worker behaviour in small-scale slaughterhouses and vendors at traditional pork shops, as well as to identify risk factors for pork contamination. The intervention packages consisted of providing hygiene tools and delivering a food safety training which had been designed in a participatory way and covered 10 small-scale slaughterhouses and 29 pork shops. Pig carcasses, retailed pork, contact surfaces, and hands were sampled to measure the total bacterial count (TBC) and Salmonella contamination before, three and six weeks after the intervention, and trainee practices were observed at the same time. Linear and generalized linear mixed effects models were constructed to identify risk factors for TBC and Salmonella contamination at the slaughterhouses and pork shops. The interventions at slaughterhouses and pork shops both showed a slight reduction of TBC contamination in pig carcasses and Salmonella prevalence in retailed pork, while the TBC in retailed pork decreased only marginally. For slaugh-terhouses, the regression model indicated that smoking or eating during slaughtering (indicating poor hygienic practices) was associated with TBC increasing, while cleaning floors and wearing boots reduced TBC contami-nation. For pork shops, using rough materials (cardboard or wood) to display pork was the only factor increasing TBC contamination in pork, whereas cleaning knives was associated with lower TBC. Besides, the presence of supporters and wearing aprons reduced the probability of Salmonella contamination in pork. The findings highlight the effectiveness of light-touch interventions in reducing microbial contamination in pig carcasses at small-scale slaughterhouses and pork at traditional shops over the study period
