Are Litigating Attorneys Debt Collectors Under the Federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act?

In 1986 Congress amended the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act to include attorneys under the definition of debt collector. Now the Supreme Court is asked to determine if the law applies to attorneys suing debtors on behalf of clients, not just when they conduct debt-collection activities. If the Supreme Court affirms the decision of the Seventh Circuit, thus finding for Jenkins, attorneys who litigate cases involving collection of debts may find themselves subject to liability for communications with the consumer or the consumer\u27s attorney regarding the litigation. Furthermore, these attorneys would face personal liability for any violations of the Act in conducting debt-collection litigation. If, however, the Court reverses, thus finding for Heintz and Bowman, the collective sigh of relief from the legal community might well be audible

The Legal Aspects of Foreign Investment in Vietnam

Recent years have brought burgeoning interest in foreign investment in Vietnam. Although a few observers have sounded discordant notes about Vietnam\u27s economic potential, they have been drowned out in the chorus of the prevailing opinion that Vietnam appears set to become the next \u27tiger\u27 of Southeast Asia. Recognising this potential, the US lifted its trade embargo of Vietnam in early 1994. By this time, foreign investors from other nations had already established a presence in Vietnam. Foreign investors have well-founded reasons underlying their interest in Vietnam. Vietnam\u27s plentiful natural resources, including timber, oil, agricultural resources, a long coastline, tourism, and seafood production, present ample opportunity for development. The labour force has a 90% literacy rate, partly due to the ease of reading and writing the language thanks to the efforts of early Portuguese missionaries to phonetically transcribe the language into the Roman alphabet. The people also possess unique qualities; they demonstrated their resilience throughout nearly 40 years of warfare. Finally, the country\u27s isolation until recent years makes Vietnam the \u27new kid on the block\u27 in terms of investment opportunities; the investment vacuum inevitably attracts investors wishing to gain an edge in an untapped market. Modalitas belajar adalah cara kerja otak kita dalam menyerap, memproses dan menyimpan informasi yang diperoleh melalui panca indera secara optimal. Masalah gangguan penggunaan napza khususnya rokok dan alkohol merupakan problem yang kompleks yang penatalaksanaaanya melibatkan banyak bidang keilmuan baik medik maupun non medik, karena hal ini merupakan pintu masuk penggunaan napza suntik. Dalam pola tertentu penggunaan jarum suntik dan sex bebas berkaitan erat dengan penularan HIV Aids. Peranan UKS sangatlah penting dalam mencegah terjadinya hal-hal yang disebutkan di atas, maka dari itu UKS sangatlah perlu terus dibina dan diberikan pemahaman dan pelatihan-pelatihan khusus, dan hal ini juga perlu dukungan yang besar dari pihak sekolah melalui Pembina UKS ataupun guru. Pemeriksaan kesehatan tersebut bertujuan untuk melihat kadar hemoglobin dalam daraah yang nantinya ada hubungan dengan penyakit anemia pada remaja. Karena dari pemeriksaan tersebut siswa dapat menjaga dan mengantisipasi terkena penyakit anemia. Dilihat dari kegiatan siswa sehari-hari yang lebih dominan untuk duduk di bangku maupun duduk dilantai karena kegiatan belajarnya yang dapat memicu atau penyebab terkena penyait anemia. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengabdian ini adalah observasi dan pemeriksaan kesehatan secara langsung pada siswa.
