Một số thuận lợi và khó khăn trong hoạt động trao đổi sinh viên của Khoa Sư Phạm, Trường Đại học Cần Thơ

Nghiên cứu được thực hiện nhằm mục đích đánh giá hiện trạng thuận lợi và khó khăn trong hoạt động trao đổi sinh viên đối với sinh viên Khoa Sư phạm, Trường Đại học Cần Thơ để từ đó đề xuất việc xây dựng kế hoạch trao đổi sinh viên với các trường đại học ngoài nước nhằm nâng cao năng lực nghiệp vụ cho sinh viên. Kết quả khảo sát cho thấy: để xây dựng chương trình trao đổi sinh viên ngày càng tốt hơn và hiệu quả hơn cần phải nắm bắt được những thuận lợi mà sinh viên sẽ đạt được sau chuyến đi. Bên cạnh đó còn phải khắc phục những khó khăn phát sinh trong suốt chuyến đi học tập nhằm tạo ra một kết quả tốt cho quá trình trao đổi cũng như tăng hiệu quả cho việc tổ chức hoạt động trao đổi sinh viên sau này của các trường đại học

STUDENTS’ AWARENESS OF VARIETIES OF WORLD ENGLISHES: A CASE OF VIETNAMESE EFL STUDENTS AT HUE TOURISM COLLEGE

Abstract: Because English is an international language, there are various accents of English around the world. However, for Vietnamese students, in general, and for EFL students, in particular, they are mostly familiar with American English accent, due to their lack of exposure to other dialects. This case study of Vietnamese EFL students at Hue Tourism College was conducted to see the students’ awareness of varieties of world Englishes. The findings showed that the students face a lot of difficulties when they communicate in a working environment of different accents of English. 96.3 % of the students in the survey expressed their difficulties to cope with the regional accents. Nearly two-thirds of the students said they could not understand their guests because of the speakers’ strange pronunciation, different regions vocabulary and their linking sounds when speaking. 97.5 % of the participants in the survey were aware of the importance of mastering the differences in accents and lexicon for their future jobs as tourist guides, travel agents staffs, receptionists, housekeepers, or waiters/waitresses after graduation. A number of suggestions and solution were also made to help students improve their knowledge of different accents and thus further their language competency

Choosing Appropriate Location of Stop-lines at Some of Signalized Intersection Groups in the Central of Viet Nam

From the results of theoretical study of standards, procedures and real experiences of stop line use of countries in the world as well as from the results of practical study of using these stop lines in signalized intersections in urban areas of Viet Nam, the paper proposes a suitable position of stop lines for 8 cases corresponding to 6 different groups of signalized intersections based on cycle time of traffic light and and street level. The two cases of common cycle time are 55s and 50s. The research results are applied specifically to signalized intersections of Quang Ngai city, and are the design fundamenals of traffic plan, organization and control. Therefore, the results can improve the capacity in exploiting efficiency of this type of intersections in urban areas
