Design and Implementation of a Pressure Monitoring System Based on IoT for Water Supply Networks
Increasing the efficiency of water supply networks is essential in arid and semi-arid regions to ensure the supply of drinking water to the inhabitants. The cost of renovating these systems is high. However, customized management models can facilitate the maintenance and rehabilitation of hydraulic infrastructures by optimizing the use of resources. The implementation of current Internet of Things (IoT) monitoring systems allows decisions to be based on objective data. In water supply systems, IoT helps to monitor the key elements to improve system efficiency. To implement IoT in a water distribution system requires sensors that are suitable for measuring the main hydraulic variables, a communication system that is adaptable to the water service companies and a friendly system for data analysis and visualization. A smart pressure monitoring and alert system was developed using low-cost hardware and open-source software. An Arduino family microcontroller transfers pressure gauge signals using Sigfox communication, a low-power wide-area network (LPWAN). The IoT ThingSpeak platform is used for data analysis and visualization. Additionally, the system can send alarms via SMS/email in real time using the If This, Then That (IFTTT) web service when anomalous pressure data are detected. The pressure monitoring system was successfully implemented in a real water distribution network in Spain. It was able to detect both breakdowns and leaks in real time
Design and 3D Manufacturing of an Improved Heliostatic Illuminator
Increasing daylighting levels contributes to improving the energy efficiency of buildings and consequently to the fight against climate change. This work presents a new illuminator based on a previous single-axis polar heliostat. This heliostat allows redirecting sunlight to a specific space to be illuminated at any time of the day. The system presented is simple but compact in size. It has been manufactured by 3D printing with recyclable PETG plastics. Three-dimensional printing has allowed reduction of the mass of the system to less than 5 kg, which means high stability and manageability. Moreover, the system has been provided with an assembly structure that facilitates its correct installation by a single operator. The result is a heliostatic illuminator with an average pointing error of 10 mrad, an acceptable error for urban applications. Finally, a low-cost and high-replicability device has been achieved, which makes it an easily reproducible illuminator and favors its extensive installation

trabajo.Nowdays, software development projects make up an increasing industrial sector.
This sector has repercussions on work market. The telecommunications
development, internet and the necessity of managing different ways of information
are circumstances to increase the importance of software development project
engineering. This software engineering guarantees the quality of software products.
Global information systems work with different types of information: text, voice, video,
graphic, etc. This systems can use any architecture that we can think up. This
architecture can be centralized, distributed or using internet. Software industry is very
interested in this kind of systems.
This paper proposes an strategy to make software development projects to produce
global information systems. This proposal goes from the initial conception of the
project until the final product. The design phase and the construction phase are also
considered in this work. The suggestions from the traditional project engineering and
the software project engineering are had under consideration in this proposal in order
to achieve software products with great quality.
To conclude this paper we can say that fundamental bases of traditional engineering
can be applied to any type of product
Using NDT and the Restrictions Satisfactions Techniques to Generate Cultural Tours
The rise of interest for knowing more about the cultural heritage grew in the last years. The advances of
communications and the new technologies, and also the use of Internet, opened a new via to spread out the
information in tourist information centres and centres to manage heritage information. This new way is
producing the necessity to develop new enquiry systems via Internet (Escalona et al., 2002). In this sense, the
power of expression offered by the cualitative knowledge to do queries is very suitable in this kind of systems.
In this work, a real problem to offer information to the tourist about the cultural heritage in Andalusia is
presented. This system lets the user, with a very easy interface, selects cultural routes adapted to his
preferences. These routes are designed using some constraints defined by the user in his cultural visit. In order
to get this system, we proposed to apply technologies based on cualitative reasoning (Kuipers et al., 1994) as
asuitable base to solve the problem of cultural routes. Also, we propose use semicualitative (Kay, 1996)
reasoning techniques to develop the interface more suitable and web methodologies to design the system
Hybrid Enzyme-Polymeric Capsules/Mesoporous Silica Nanodevice for In Situ Cytotoxic Agent Generation
A novel nanocarrier based on functionalized mesoporous silica nanoparticles able to transport a non-toxic pro-drug and the enzyme responsible for its activation is presented. This nanodevice is able to generate in situ cytotoxic species once accumulated in the tumoral cell. Enzymes are sensitive macromolecules which can suffer denaturalization in biological media due to the presence of proteases or other aggressive agents. Moreover, the direct attachment of enzymes to the silica surface can reduce their activity by conformational changes or active site blockage. For these reasons, in order to create a robust system able to work in living organisms, the enzymes are previously coated with a protective polymeric shell which allows the attachment on the silica surface preserving their activity. The efficacy of this hybrid nanodevice for antitumoral purposes is tested against several human tumoral cells as neuroblastoma and leukemia showing significant efficacy. It converts this device in a promising candidate for further in vivo studies for oncology therapy
