The position and importance of Turkey in the scope of energy policies of the enlarging EU

Increasing demand for oil and gas in the enlarging EU will mostly be satisfied by outside resources, due to Union’s limited oil and gas production capability. Turkey’s geographical location offers variety of opportunities in terms of oil and gas transportation from the Caspian Sea and the Persian Gulf regions to the EU. As well as connecting the EU to the Middle East, Turkey also plays an important role in the Mediterranean. From the EU’s perspective, abovementioned reasons add further importance to Turkey. Being in the process of starting to accession negotiations with the Union, the key point for Turkey is to utilize her position related to energy policies of the Union in order to support the membership process.Energy; government energy policy; Turkey

AbstractWorkforce diversity imposes itself as an imperative for organizations. Hence, today's organizations distinguish the diversified workforce as a tool to leverage business opportunities. In order to acquire a competitive advantage from human resources, diversity management comes to the front for all organizations. Managing diversity successfully requires a proper diversity climate for employees in all levels of organizations. This study reports the findings of a research study on the diversity climate among employees of a hotel chain. Both the t-test and one way ANOVA tests predict the perception of employees. The results show that diversity perceptions of employees predominantly depend on managerial status

Global economic environment and Turkey’s Structural Adjustment Programs, which has been supervised by International Monetary Found, had created transformation stage of Turkish manufacturing industry in the trade liberalization period in the late 1990s. The sector’s relative size to GDP has not changed remarkably during the last decade, while the Turkish manufacturing sectors production and export capacity have been growing. As fotomontagens realizadas pela artista plástica Tereza Yamashita, inseridas na antologia Babel Babilônia, de Nelson de Oliveira, publicada em 2007, sugerem a presença de um enredo iconográfi co que, concomitantemente aos dispositivos paratextuais e ao conjunto das narrativas aqui presentes, vêm apoiar uma refl exão acerca da crise de valores que atravessa nossa sociedade.
