Improved in-field behaviour of uranium doped BiSCCO tapes by enhanced flux pinning

Uranium doped BiSCCO 2223 tapes were irradiated by thermal neutrons. The resulting fission-induced defects improve flux pinning and shift the irreversibility line to higher fields. Significant enhancements of the transport critical current density as well as a reduction of the Jc-anisotropy are found for the irradiated samples. Furthermore, inter- and intragranular critical current densities were determined from the remanent magnetic moments by SQUID magnetometry

Bullying girls - Changes after brief strategic family therapy: A randomized, prospective, controlled trial with one-year follow-up

Background: Many girls bully others. They are conspicuous because of their risk-taking behavior, increased anger, problematic interpersonal relationships and poor quality of life. Our aim was to determine the efficacy of brief strategic family therapy (BSFT) for bullying-related behavior, anger reduction, improvement of interpersonal relationships, and improvement of health-related quality of life in girls who bully, and to find out whether their expressive aggression correlates with their distinctive psychological features. Methods: 40 bullying girls were recruited from the general population: 20 were randomly selected for 3 months of BSFT. Follow-up took place 12 months after the therapy had ended. The results of treatment were examined using the Adolescents' Risk-taking Behavior Scale (ARBS), the State-Trait Anger Expression Inventory (STAXI), the Inventory of Interpersonal Problems (IIP-D), and the SF-36 Health Survey (SF-36). Results: In comparison with the control group (CG) (according to the intent-to-treat principle), bullying behavior in the BSFT group was reduced (BSFT-G from n = 20 to n = 6; CG from n = 20 to n = 18, p = 0.05) and statistically significant changes in all risk-taking behaviors (ARBS), on most STAXI, IIP-D, and SF-36 scales were observed after BSFT. The reduction in expressive aggression (Anger-Out scale of the STAXI) correlated with the reduction on several scales of the ARBS, IIP-D, and SF-36. Follow-up a year later showed relatively stable events. Conclusions: Our findings suggest that bullying girls suffer from psychological and social problems which may be reduced by the use of BSFT. Expressive aggression in girls appears to correlate with several types of risk-taking behavior and interpersonal problems, as well as with health-related quality of life. Copyright (c) 2006 S. Effect of boron doping in the microwave surface resistance of neutron irradiated melt-textured Y_1.6Ba_2.3Cu_3.3O_7-x samples

We report on the microwave surface resistance of melt-textured Y_1.6Ba_2.3Cu_3.3O_7-x samples, doped with different amount of B_2O_3 and, subsequently, irradiated by thermal neutrons at the fluence of 1.476 \times 10^17 cm^-2. The microwave surface resistance has been measured as a function of temperature and DC magnetic field. The experimental results are quantitatively discussed in the framework of the Coffey and Clem theory, properly adapted to take into account the d-wave nature of cuprate superconductors. By fitting the experimental data at zero DC field, we have highlighted the effects of the induced defects in the general properties of the samples, including the intergranular region. The analysis of the results obtained at high DC fields allowed us to investigate the fluxon dynamics and deduce the depinning frequency; in particular, we have shown that the addition of B_2O_3 up to 0.1 wt% increases the effectiveness of the defects to hinder the fluxon motion induced by the microwave current.Comment: 9 pages, 8 embedded figures, accepted for publication in Physica

PENERAPAN METODE IMITASI DAN DRILL PADA PADUAN SUARA MANADO INDEPENDENT SCHOOL

Abstract Choir Class VII Students at the Manado Independent School is a newly formed choir group and most of the members cannot sing using good and correct vocal techniques due to their lack of knowledge of vocals in singing so it is necessary to apply methods to overcome these problems. The purpose of this study was to determine the application of the imitation and drill method at the Manado Independent School Choir. This study uses qualitative research methods, namely case studies. The analysis was obtained through a criteria assessment sheet consisting of six aspects of measurement consisting of posture, intonation, breathing, articulation, phasering, and expression. The results of the study showed two things, first, that the application of the imitation and drill method improved good vocal techniques, secondly, the imitation and drill method was the right method to be applied in the learning choir of Class VII Students of Manado Independent School
