ABJM Matrix Model and 2D Toda Lattice Hierarchy

It was known that one-point functions in the ABJM matrix model (obtained by applying the localization technique to one-point functions of the half-BPS Wilson loop operator in the ABJM theory) satisfy the Jacobi-Trudi formula, which strongly indicates the integrable structure of the system. In this paper, we identify the integrable structure of two-point functions in the ABJM matrix model as the two-dimensional Toda lattice hierarchy. The identification implies infinitely many non-linear differential equations for the generating function of the two-point functions.Comment: 35 pages, 7 eps figures; v2: references adde

    Duality Cascades and Parallelotopes

Duality cascades are a series of duality transformations in field theories, which can be realized as the Hanany-Witten transitions in brane configurations on a circle. In the setup of the ABJM theory and its generalizations, from the physical requirement that duality cascades always end and the final destination depends only on the initial brane configuration, we propose that the fundamental domain of supersymmetric brane configurations in duality cascades can tile the whole parameter space of relative ranks by translations, hence is a parallelotope. We provide our arguments for the proposal.Comment: 37 pages, 9 eps figures; v2: section 2.2 added, four figures adde

    Brane Transitions from Exceptional Groups

It is a well-known result by Hanany and Witten that, when two five-branes move across each other, D3-branes stretching between them are generated. Later the same brane configurations played a crucial role in understanding the worldvolume theory of multiple M2-branes. Recently the partition function of multiple M2-branes was transformed to the Fredholm determinant for quantum algebraic curves, where the characteristic 3/2 power law of degrees of freedom is reproduced and the determinant enjoys a large symmetry given by exceptional Weyl groups. The large exceptional Weyl group reproduces the Hanany-Witten brane transitions and, besides, contains brane transitions unknown previously. Aiming at understanding the new brane transitions better, we generalize our previous study on the D5 quantum curve to the E7 case, which requires delicate handling of degeneracies. By combining the results of these two cases, we propose a "local" rule for the brane transitions.Comment: 33 pages, 8 eps figures; clarifications adde

Spin effects in single-electron transport through carbon nanotube quantum dots

We investigate the total spin in an individual single-wall carbon nanotube quantum dot with various numbers of electrons in a shell by using the ratio of the saturation currents of the first steps of Coulomb staircases for positive and negative biases. The current ratio reflects the total-spin transition that is increased or decreased when the dot is connected to strongly asymmetric tunnel barriers. Our results indicate that total spin states with and without magnetic fields can be traced by this method.Comment: 5pages, 5figures, accepted for publication in Phys. Rev.

Development of liquid scintillator containing 8-quinolinolate indium complex for measurement of low energy solar neutrinos

    Get PDF
An organic liquid scintillator containing indium complex was studied for a measurement of low energy solar neutrinos. The energy of the emitted electrons from those processes could be transferred to the molecular of complex via the organic solvent molecules, and the luminescence from the indium complex would be detected by the photo-multiplier. Here we report some results obtained by photo-luminescence and the γ\u27s inducedenergy spectra of tris (8-quinolinolate) indium (InQ3) complex. Benzonitrile was chosen as a solvent because of good solubility for the quinolinolate complexes (2wt%) and of good light yield for the scintillation induced by γ\u27s irradiation. The photo-luminescence emission spectra of InQ3 of 30 M solution in benzonitrile was measured. The emission maxima for InQ3 is found at 559 nm as excitation wavelength: 397 nm. We prepared InQ3 (50 mg ~ 200mg) of benzonitrile solutions (20mL). Two secondary scintillators, 100 mg of 2,5-diphenyloxazole (PPO) and 10mg of 1,4- bis[2-(5-phenyloxazolyl)]benzene (POPOP), are also dissolved in above solutions and they play a role of wavelength shifter from the UV region emitted by excited benzonitrile molecules to the visible region emitted by InQ3 complex. The energy spectra of electrons emitted by Compton scattering of incident γ\u27s using 60 Co radio isotope was obtained. These results are the first observation of the γ\u27s energy spectra using luminescent metal complexes

Handedness manipulation of propagating antiferromagnetic magnons

Antiferromagnetic magnons possess a distinctive feature absent in their ferromagnetic counterparts: the presence of two distinct handedness modes, the right-handed (RH) and left-handed (LH) precession modes. The magnon handedness determines the sign of spin polarization carried by the propagating magnon, which is indispensable for harnessing the diverse functionalities. However, the control of coherently propagating magnon handedness in antiferromagnets has remained elusive so far. Here we demonstrate the manipulation and electrical readout of propagating magnon handedness in perpendicularly magnetized synthetic antiferromagnets (SAF). We find that the antiferromagnetic magnon handedness can be directly identified by measuring the inverse spin Hall effect (ISHE) voltage, which arises from the spin pumping effect caused by the propagating antiferromagnetic magnons in the SAF structure. The RH and LH modes of the magnon can be distinguishable particularly when the SAF structure is sandwiched by heavy metals with the same sign of spin Hall angle. Moreover, we succeed in controlling the handedness of propagating antiferromagnetic magnons by tuning the excitation microwave frequency. This work unveils promising avenues for harnessing magnon unique properties in antiferromagnet-based magnonic applications
