AbstractIn this paper, there are presented some of the final results of the project: “T&T – Telework and Training: Work at distance to Teach at Distance” more exactly the conclusions of the pilot courses organized in Romania. The main T&T goals were: to update the results of the former TES Project, to translate the updated results in Romanian, Spanish and Greek and also to organize three training courses and three updating seminars. The Romanian trainees were targeted from three occupational categories: university students, teachers from pre-university schools and professionals involved in vocational education training. All the Romanian trainees offered their opinions about the course offered in an e-learning environment - the Moodle platform

Remanent battery capacity estimation for autonomous ground industrial vehicles

    No full text
When travelling in an industrial system for completing their assigned tasks, autonomous ground vehicles must estimate the remanent capacity of their batteries and decide if they are able to assume the next task and afterward travel to the charging or replacement station. The amount of energy needed for moving on a certain distance depends on a set of parameters belonging to the vehicle, to the runway and to the vehicle’s trajectory. The paper proposes a model for estimating the remaining capacity of the batteries after a certain distance would be covered by a vehicle. Parameters values were obtained by simulation, capacity loss was computed using the proposed model and then a neural network was taught to perform the estimation. The neural network was further used to simulate the situation when a vehicle is estimating the needed capacity before accepting a task to be performed. The results proved that the model and the network, even developed using low data volume and processing time, are able to provide accurate enough estimations and are able to allow future developments

The benefits of using MOODLE in teacher training in Romania

AbstractThe utilization of the e-learning environments for teacher training programs is at the beginning in the Romanian system for teacher continuous formation. Also, the rules for approving this kind of formation program are not approved yet, due the ongoing modification to The Law of Romanian Education. There are a lot of e-learning environments in our academic institutions, but now the free resource Moodle for e-learning course management system gain new users every day. Some of the benefits which recommend Moodle for being implemented in the Romanian's programs for teacher training are the subject of our paper: different types of assignments, chats, forums, databases, glossaries, lessons, multiple types of tests with one or more items, quizzes, wikis, surveys and the SCORM/AICC module

Mechanical and Wetting Properties of Ta2O5 and ZnO Coatings on Alloy Substrate of Cardiovascular Stents Manufactured by Casting and DMLS

In the last years, additive manufacturing technologies have been developed, especially direct metal laser sintering, and used in the dental and medical implant domains. Cardiovascular stents have evolved from bioinert, bare metal cages to biomimetic devices that promote tissue regeneration or healing. In this paper, comparisons concerning mechanical properties between Co–Cr alloy and cast 304L stainless steel were realized using FEM analysis, necessary for manufacturing cardiovascular stents by DMLS technology using Co–Cr alloy. The purpose of this paper consists of the evaluation of the contact angle at the interface of the Co–Cr alloy manufactured by DMLS, respectively, cast stainless steel 304L, and thin film deposition realized by the e-gun method (Ta2O5 and ZnO). Scanning electronic microscopy SEM and EDX techniques were employed for morphological investigation of the sintered samples manufactured by the DMLS process. They were also used for semi-quantitative and qualitative chemical and metallographic analyses. The e-gun coating was used to obtain thin films with the nanometer order of Ta2O5 and ZnO with a protective role to improve the corrosion resistance, roughness, and antiseptic role

Multiyear Typology of Long-Range Transported Aerosols over Europe

In this study, AERONET (Aerosol Robotic Network) and EARLINET (European Aerosol Research Lidar Network) data from 17 collocated lidar and sun photometer stations were used to characterize the optical properties of aerosol and their types for the 2008–2018 period in various regions of Europe. The analysis was done on six cluster domains defined using circulation types around each station and their common circulation features. As concluded from the lidar photometer measurements, the typical aerosol particles observed during 2008–2018 over Europe were medium-sized, medium absorbing particles with low spectral dependence. The highest mean values for the lidar ratio at 532 nm were recorded over Northeastern Europe and were associated with Smoke particles, while the lowest mean values for the Angstrom exponent were identified over the Southwest cluster and were associated with Dust and Marine particles. Smoke (37%) and Continental (25%) aerosol types were the predominant aerosol types in Europe, followed by Continental Polluted (17%), Dust (10%), and Marine/Cloud (10%) types. The seasonal variability was insignificant at the continental scale, showing a small increase in the percentage of Smoke during spring and a small increase of Dust during autumn. The aerosol optical depth (AOD) slightly decreased with time, while the Angstrom exponent oscillated between “hot and smoky” years (2011–2015) on the one hand and “dusty” years (2008–2010) and “wet” years (2017–2018) on the other hand. The high variability from year to year showed that aerosol transport in the troposphere became more and more important in the overall balance of the columnar aerosol load
