Localization of an endogenous lectin in chicken liver, intestine, and pancreas.
Extracts of adult chicken liver, pancreas, and intestine contain high levels of a lectin which appears to be identical to one previously purified from embryonic chick muscle. This lectin is virtually absent from adult muscle, but is highly concentrated in cells lining liver sinusoids, intestinal goblet cells, and the extracellular spaces surrounding pancreatic acini. These findings suggest that the lectin may play different roles in different tissues and at different times in the life of a chicken
Installation of Mechatronics Education Using the MindStorms for Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, O.N.C.T
The author constructed an installation course of mechatronics and conducted on the students of department of mechanical engineering, Oita national college of technology. The course is composed of six sessions and is aiming to grow up the mechanical engineers who can adapt quickly to changes in industrial society. Then, the education programs of computer technology and information processing are more emphasized in this course. Certainly the specific subjects involved with mechatronics are constructed as a part of curriculum in the older grades, however there is some difficulties to make students of department of mechanical engineering to have interests in electronics and/or information science. Viewed in this light, it is better to begin mechatronics education with undergoing experiments like this course since they were in early grade
CHANGES IN INTER-LIMB MUSCLE COORDINATION INDUCED BY MUSCLE FATIGUE DURING PEDALING
The purpose of this study was to investigate the changes in inter-limb muscle coordination brought about by muscle fatigue during pedaling. Four healthy male road cyclists pedaled for 15 min under a 150 W exercise load and a 90 rpm cadence. First, the surface electromyography (sEMG) of the muscles of both lower limbs was measured along with crank angle. Second, the slope of median frequency of a short-time Fourier transform was used to estimate muscle fatigue. Next, non-negative matrix factorization was applied to the time-frequency components of the sEMG to investigate the inter-limb muscle coordination. The result showed that asymmetrical inter-limb muscle coordination was seen in all subjects regardless of muscle fatigue. Failure to counteract muscle fatigue could be explained by the redistribution patterns of the asymmetrical inter-limb muscle coordination, which is considered a muscle fatigue compensation strategy
