Alterations in Calcium Signaling Pathways in Breast Cancer
Breast cancer is the second most common cancer in women and the fifth cause contributing to death due to the cancer condition. It is essential to deeply understand the complex cellular mechanisms leading to this disease. There are multiple connections between calcium homeostasis alterations and breast cancer in the literature, but no consensus links the mechanism to the disease prognosis. Among the cells contributing to the breast cancer are the breast telocytes, which connect through gap junctions to other cells, including cancer cells and myoepithelial cells. Multiple proteins (i.e., voltage-gated calcium channels, transient receptor potential channels, STIM and Orai proteins, ether à go-go potassium channels, calcium-activated potassium channels, calcium-activated chloride channels, muscarinic acetylcholine receptors, etc.) coupled with calcium signaling pathways undergo functional and/or expression changes associated with breast cancer development and progression, and might represent promising pharmacological targets. Unraveling the mechanisms of altered calcium homeostasis in various breast cells due to the cancer condition might contribute to personalized therapeutic approaches
Analysis of the Possibilities of Selective Detection of a Single Line-to-Ground Fault in a Medium Voltage Network with Isolated Neutral
The paper analyses how the characteristics of the medium-voltage network with insulated neutral and the conditions under which the single line-to-ground fault occurs (insulation condition and value of the fault resistance) influence the zero-sequence components of the voltage of the transformer station medium-voltage bus bar, the fault current, the currents of the faulted line and the currents of the other non-faulted power lines connected to the transformer station bus bars. Assuming the waveform of the medium voltage bus voltages in the transformer station is known, the influence of the fault resistance on the total distortion coefficient of the fault current is analysed. This establishes the conditions under which a single line-to-ground fault can be detected by controlling the total distortion coefficient of the fault current and the currents of the fault-free lines. It also examines the conditions under which a single line-to-ground fault can be selectively detected by checking the effective value and direction of flow of the zero-sequence currents of the medium-voltage lines during the fault. The results obtained by the calculation were verified experimentally in the medium voltage network considered in the study. The acceptable differences, considering the degree of accuracy with which the parameters of a medium voltage network are known, between the results obtained by calculation and those obtained experimentally show that the simplifying assumptions accepted for the mathematical models used in the calculation are correct
Proyecto "cuando te caes del cielo”
Treball Final del Màster Universitari en Noves Tendències i Processos d'Innovació en Comunicació (Pla 2016) . Codi: SBP052. Curs acadèmic 2019-2020The project "Cuando te caes del cielo" was born as a transmedia production that consists in the elaboration of 5 video clips by the artist Indigo Jams with a story that is conducted through all of them. These video clips belong to the same EP that shares the name of the single and the first song "Cuando te caes del cielo”, The main objective of this project was the realization of the video clips of the songs with different formats. Due to the current situation in which we find ourselves, it has only been possible to produce the single "Cuando te caes del cielo", attached with the final, so for the rest have been included with pre-production documents. The EP began with the single that has been made in the standard video clip format, 16:9, whose upload was scheduled and released on YouTube in mid-March 2020. This one tells the beginning of the story that is about a breakup and mourning of our main character. The next video clip of the second song “No fui yo” was prepared to be produced in a vertical format to be released directly on other media such as Instagram TV or TikTok. In this part of the story the main character tries to forget his past and begins to fall into harmful vices. The two next songs are related to each other. "La señal" tells us how the character has not yet overcome the rupture and falls into a void looking for help. While "Ansiedas" tells us what is going in his head at that exact moment. Both video clips are planned to be released together in a 4:3 format. At the end, "Billy and Mandy" is about the final fall of the protagonist, and the video clip theme is darker, planned to be elaborated in a more cinematic format, 2.35: 1. Throughout the five video clips the figure of a McGuffin is included as a mask, which tries to represent the search for self-improvement of the character. The main idea of the project was that after uploading it on media, a study of social interactions would be made, but since it was not possible to produce the other video clips in time, I have made a study case and some forecasts regarding budget and future reception.Due to the current pandemic and the confinement with social restrictions, the development of four of the videos were cancelled. I would have liked to end the whole project and show you my recording and editing skills, which I think they are my major assets, and I think the videoclips would be the most important part of the project. Dichos videoclips pertenecen a un mismo EP que comparte el nombre del single y primera canción que comienza la historia con el nombre “Cuando te caes del cielo”. El objetivo principal de este proyecto era la realización de los diferentes videoclips acompañantes de las canciones con formatos diferentes y con una planeada subida a diferentes plataformas. Debido a la situación en que nos encontramos actualmente, hasta ahora sólo ha sido posible la producción del single “Cuando te caes del cielo”, adjuntado con el escrito del trabajo de fin de máster, por lo que para los restantes se ha incluido en el propio trabajo las ideas que se tenían pensado y los documentos de preproducción. El EP empezaba con el single que ha sido realizado en el formato estándar de videoclips, 16:9, cuya subida fue programada y lanzada en YouTube a mediados de Marzo de 2020. Este cuenta el principio del historia que trata sobre una ruptura y el duelo de nuestro personaje principal. A continuación, el vídeoclip de la segunda canción del videoclip “No fui yo”, estaba prevista en ser producida en formato vertical para poder ser lanzada directamente en otros medios como Instagram TV o TikTok. En esta parte de la historia narra como el personaje trata de olvidar el pasado y empieza a a caer en vicios perjudiciales. En tercer y cuarto lugar, las canciones siguientes van relacionadas entre sí. “La señal” nos cuenta cómo el personaje aún no ha superado la ruptura y cae en un vacío buscando ayuda que finalmente no encuentra. Mientras que “Ansiedad” nos relata lo que va pasando por su cabeza en ese mismo momento. Ambos videoclips tienen planeado lanzarse en conjunto y en un formato de 4:3. Finalmente en “Billy y Mandy”, habla sobre la caída final del protagonista, y el tema de videoclip es más oscuro, planeado en ser elaborado en un formato más cinematográfico, 2,35:1. A lo largo de los cinco videoclips se incluye la figura de un McGuffin como una máscara, que trata de representar la búsqueda de la superación del personaje. La idea principal del proyecto era que tras subirlo en redes, se llevaría a cabo un estudio de las interacciones sociales, pero como no ha sido posible la producción de los demás videoclips a tiempo de la entrega del trabajo de final de máster he realizado un estudio de caso y algunas previsiones en cuanto a presupuesto y futura recepción. Debido a la pandemia actual y el confinamiento con restricciones sociales, no ha sido posible el desarrollo de cuatro videoclips, me hubiera gustado enseñarlo en el trabajo ya que la grabación y edición son mi punto fuerte, y finalmente lo más importante del trabajo es la realización de los videoclips. Considerations on the Mathematical model for Calculating the Single-phase Grounding
In this paper are presented the results obtained using a mathematical model, conceived in order to analyze the effects of grounding faults that occur in a medium voltage network. Measurements were made on a real electric network. Calculated results using the mathematical model are compared with the actual measurements
Acute Fatty Liver of Pregnancy
Acute fatty liver of pregnancy (AFLP) is a rare but life-threatening condition that develops in the third trimester of pregnancy. AFLP shares similar clinical features with other more common pregnancy-associated conditions. However, early correct diagnosis is important for maternal and fetal survival. Once the diagnosis has been established, immediate delivery and maternal intensive support should be undertaken. Both parents and the infant should be tested for deficiencies of the mitochondrial fatty acid oxidation, especially for long-chain 3-hydroxyacyl-CoA dehydrogenase (LCHAD) deficiency, as many cases of AFLP are related to disruption of this physiological enzymatic pathway
THE PROBLEM OF DIAGNOSING VITAMIN B12 DEFICIENCY
Vitamin B12 deficiency (cobalamin) is a common cause of megaloblastic anemia, with various neuropsychiatric symptoms. The prevalence is not known with certainty, but the incidence seems to increase with age.
The diagnosis is usually based on the identification of a low serum level of vitamin B12 with clinical evidence
of deficiency and with a good response to vitamin B12 replacement therapy. When confirming the diagnosis,
consideration should be given to the etiology that may be due to nutritional deficiency, malabsorption and
other gastrointestinal causes
COVID-19-Associated Rhino-Orbital Mucormycosis: Histological and Electron Microscopy Characteristics
COVID-19-associated rhino-orbital mucormycosis has become a new clinical entity. This study’s aim was to evaluate the histopathological and ultramicroscopic morphological aspects of this fungal infection. This was an observational retrospective study on eight patients from three tertiary centers in Romania. The tissue samples collected during functional endoscopic sinus surgery were studied through histopathological examination, scanning electron microscopy, and transmission electron microscopy. In the histopathological examination, the morphological aspects characteristic of mucormycosis in all cases were identified: wide aseptate hyphae with right-angle ramifications, which invade blood vessels. One case presented perineural invasion into the perineural lymphatics. And in another case, mucormycosis–aspergillosis fungal coinfection was identified. Through scanning electron microscopy, long hyphae on the surface of the mucosa surrounded by cells belonging to the local immune system were identified in all samples, and bacterial biofilms were identified in half of the samples. Through transmission electron microscopy, aseptate hyphae and bacterial elements were identified in the majority of the samples. Rhino-orbital-cerebral mucormycosis associated with COVID-19 produces nasal sinus dysbiosis, which favors the appearance of bacterial biofilms. The way in which the infection develops depends on the interaction of the fungi with cells of the immune system
