El nombre completo de Olof era Nils Olof Hugo Wessberg Geissler y el de su esposa Karen Mogensen Fischer. Nadie pareció sorprenderse cuando él y su esposa dejaron Suecia con la finalidad de iniciar la búsqueda del paraíso. Olof era una persona joven que luchaba a favor del ambiente y para ese entonces su manera de pensar y actuar se consideraban como radicales

Formação e evolução dos processos criminais havidos no Brasil português

O presente artigo tem por objetivo analisar a evolução das Leis, desde as suas origens, bem como seus primeiros Códigos de Leis, a infl uência da Leis Romanas e sua chegada à Península Ibérica durante a Idade Média até seu estabelecimento em Portugal no século XII. Por aquela época as Leis usuais na Ibéria eram mescladas às Leis Canônicas. Esta mescla deu origem às Ordenações Afonsinas, Manuelinas e Felipinas. Estas Ordenações constituíram as primeiras Leis que foram usadas no Brasil e, mesmo depois da Independência, por falta de uma legislação nacional, continuaram a ser usadas ainda, por um longo tempo. Um exemplo chocante teve lugar em 1825 e foi aqui mencionado como um meio de elucidação fi nal e término deste artigo

A Framework for User Centric LCA Tool Development for Early Planning Stages of Buildings

As the high greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions caused by the construction and real estate sector receive more attention, more and more countries include an environmental assessment of buildings based on Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) in their building regulations. Sweden introduced mandatory climate declarations in January 2022, for example. To support stakeholders in conducting the climate declarations and using the results to reduce GHG emissions, user-friendly tools for early planning stages are needed. The aim of this study is to develop and test a framework for user centric development of such tools. The framework builds on three steps; 1) interviewing stakeholders to define tool requirements, 2) developing a prototype tool according to the requirements, and 3) evaluating it based on user feedback. We developed and tested the framework in the Swedish context to provide a blueprint applicable to other countries and contexts. The primary target users are architects with computational design experience but also engineers and real estate developers working in early phases. The results show that the users\u27 expectations can be met when the requirements are integrated from the very beginning. In the current version, the developed building LCA tool only targets the embodied GHG emissions from the production and construction phase of the building, but it could be extended to include further life cycle phases in the future

MANAGING OUTSOURCING DECISIONS - GOVERNMENT POLICY, FIRM OPTIONS, AND THE ECONOMIC IMPACT

In this research, we provide a comprehensive examination regarding outsourcing policies and decisions by conducting a systematic analysis from macro to micro level. At the macro level, we utilize a BOCR-based (Benefit, Opportunity, Cost, Risk) Analytical Network Process (ANP) model to find the best government policy regarding outsourcing. At the micro level, we carry out a case study to demonstrate how firm level outsourcing decisions can be made. For such, we employ a comprehensive model that consists of the "the BSC-based (Balanced Scorecard) ANP model" to assess the case firm's strategic alternatives and to identify the best option for the studied firm. After recommending the best outsourcing strategy, i.e. selective outsourcing, to the case firm, we then proposed an AHP ratings model for the firm to prioritize the various activities and identify the activities to outsource. Understanding the economic impact of outsourcing can help firms facing outsourcing options to make a better decision. To provide firms with this guidance and the decision-support tool, in chapter 5 of this dissertation we empirically examine the relationship between outsourcing contract size, as reported in news and trade journals, and the firms' financial performance.Using the data from Compustat for those firms that conducted outsourcing, we are able to predict firms' post-outsourcing financial performance, as measured by Tobin's q and the changes in Tobin's q. Besides predicting financial performance, our empirical models also reveal a number of important managerial implications. In the modeling process, we make use of both traditional Least Squares Regression and advanced Machine Learning techniques, such as Regression Tree and Neural Networks.In the research front, our empirical study offers three significant findings: (1) there is a non-linear relationship between outsourcing contract value and the change in Tobin's q; (2) firm's other accounting variables do interact with the outsourcing contract size in affecting the firm's Tobin's q; and (3) outsourcing affects firms differently. In summary, the body of this dissertation consists of the three key areas: macro- and micro-level outsourcing decision making, and financial performance evaluation and prediction

O presente artigo científico tem como objetivo fazer uma análise da política pública de segurança pública adotada e aplicada pelo Estado Brasileiro a partir do ano de 1998 com a criação da Secretaria Nacional de Segurança Pública e do Plano Nacional de Segurança Pública, suas modificações, implementações e evoluções até os dias atuais, avaliando os seus resultados práticos tomando por base os anseios sociais, bem como contextualizá-la, de forma crítica e atual, a outros ramos de interesse como o Poder Judiciário, a Legislação Penal Brasileira e a Imprensa. No processo metodológico optou-se pela pesquisa bibliográfica e descritiva

Desenvolvimento e instituições: o caso da Coréia do Sul.

Relações Internacionais.Embora tenha saído pobre e devastada da Guerra da Coreia e ainda carregasse sequelas do regime colonial japonês, em meados da década de 1950, a Coreia do Sul foi capaz de superar seus obstáculos e romper o limiar do subdesenvolvimento, alcançando, menos de 50 anos depois, índices comparáveis aos de países desenvolvidos. As políticas desenvolvimentistas implementadas e a posterior democratização têm estreita relação com o desempenho econômico, político, social, etc. Esta monografia introduz a análise da experiência de desenvolvimento da Coreia do Sul a partir da abordagem do desenvolvimento como liberdade de Amartya K. Sen e com base na perspectiva institucionalista de Douglass North, Daron Acemoglu e James A. Robinson. São usadas estatísticas sociais e econômicas, como saúde, educação e renda, para fundamentar a interpretação de que as instituições, formais e informais, tiveram importante papel na experiência sul-coreana de desenvolvimento, durante o período de 1960 a 1996
