Triangular spaces and social skins in organisations

Ausgehend von einer Fallvignette aus einer Teamsupervision, in der die, wie Harald Pühl es nennt, "institutionelle Triangulierung" ausgesprochen wenig gelingt, stelle ich zwei psychoanalytisch inspirierte Konzepte vor, die mir für die Wahrnehmung von und den beraterischen Umgang mit sozio-emotionalen Prozessen in Organisationen von Bedeutung zu sein scheinen. Das ist zum einen die Vorstellung von einer sowohl die Gesamtorganisation als auch deren Untergliederungen umhüllenden und (zusammen-)haltenden "sozialen Haut". Und zum anderen die Idee von kooperations- und interaktionsförderlichen triangulären Räumen in Organisationen. In der Praxis der Supervision und Organisationsberatung ist man häufig damit konfrontiert, daß Spaltungs- und Abgrenzungstendenzen zwischen Gruppen (Subkulturen) dazu führen, daß die sozialen Häute von Abteilungen und Teams ihre Offenheit und Durchlässigkeit einbüßen, sie von innen "versiegelt" und gegeneinander abgeschottet werden. Der vorliegende Text speist sich von der Zuversicht, daß sich das Verlangen nach einer haltenden sozialen Haut auch mit triangulär strukturierten organisatorischen Aushandlungsräumen verknüpfen kann - und diesem Verlangen damit (statt zu regressiver Abschließung zu führen) eine entwicklungsförderliche Funktion zukommt.This article will present two concepts inspired by psychoanalysis which are significant for the perception of socio-emotional processes in organisations and therefore to organisational consultation. A case study of a team supervision in which the "institutional triangulation" failed will be used as a basis for their exploration. These concepts include two components: i) the image of a social skin which holds together and envelopes the organisation as a whole as well as its parts; ii) the idea of triangular spaces in organisations that support co-operation and interactions. In the practice of supervision and consultancy one is often confronted with a process of splitting and setting up borders in and between groups (subcultures) and the loss of openness and permeability of the departments and teams social skins which become sealed and shielded against each other. This article is based on the assupmption that the desire for a holding social skin is compatible with spaces present in organisational negotiation that have a triangular structure, therefore giving the desire for a social skin the potential for development rather than regressive closure

Die Verwendung des Beraters - über die Umformung unverdaulicher emotionaler Erfahrungen in kommunizierbare Gefühle und Gedanken: Themenschwerpunkt: Organisationsberatung mit Gefühl

Ausgehend von dem Gefühl, als Berater häufig mißbräuchlich benutzt zu werden, geht der Beitrag unter Rückgriff auf Winnicotts Konzept der Objektverwendung der Frage nach, wie es denn um die Fähigkeit der Ratsuchenden steht, vom Berater Gebrauch zu machen. Die Sichtung eigener Supervisions- und Beratungsprotokolle führt den Autor zu einer Auflistung der vielfältigen Arten und Weisen, wie und als was er von seinem Klientel als Berater genutzt wird. Auf dem Hintergrund von Bions Konzept des "Container-Contained" wird die Umformung unverdaulicher emotionaler Erfahrungen in kommunizierbare Gefühle und Gedanken als entscheidender psycho-dynamischer Modus von Beratungsprozessen aufgewiesen

Der Autor beschreibt unter dem Eindruck einer nach dem Praktikum erlittenen schweren Krankheit seine Eindrücke und Wahrnehmungen während des Praktikums in einer Beratungsstelle des Sozialpsychiatrischen Dienstes in Bremen. Er thematisiert seine Rolle innerhalb der Beratungsinstitution und geht auf seine Erfahrungen hinsichtlich der Zusammenarbeit des Sozialpsychiatrischen Dienstes mit anderen Institutionen und hinsichtlich seiner therapeutischen Bemühungen in einem Arbeitslosenzentrum ein. Abschließend analysiert er aus seiner Sicht den Konflikt zwischen Beratungsstelle und Leitungsgremium bezüglich der Bedeutung für den Erhalt eines Systems der psychosozialen Versorgung. Factors that Affect the Quality of Olive Oil Produced Using Olives from Traditional Orchards in the Middle East

Traditional olive (Olea europaea) orchards have been grown for thousands of years and still occupy most of the world’s cultivated olive areas. To compete with olive oil produced in the higher-yielding intensive orchards, the oil from traditional orchards must be of high quality. We evaluated oil quality—potential and actual (under commercial conditions)—and tested the stages in the production chain that are likely to reduce oil quality in the traditional sector in the Middle East region. Our findings show a clear negative impact of growers’ traditional practices on both the chemical and sensory characteristics of olive oil. The oil originating from the commercial process had higher free fatty acid and lower polyphenol and carotenoid contents, lower stability, lower pungency, lower fruitiness, lower bitterness, and a higher prevalence of organoleptic defects than oil that originated from fruit picked from the same trees during the experimental procedure. The current common harvesting technique of pole beating significantly increased fruit injury and fruit with mold, leading to a reduction in oil polyphenols and an increase in free fatty acid levels compared with those resulting from manual picking. In addition, after harvest, storing the fruit for more than 48 hours in plastic bags dramatically reduced the oil quality. The traditional olive orchard could be a source of high-quality extra virgin olive oil. However, fruit handling—from the trees until the end of the oil extraction process—is performed incorrectly, thus adversely affecting the oil quality

Cassia auriculata L.–A mini review of phytochemical compounds and their antidiabetic mechanisms

Cassia auriculata is an important medicinal herb traditionally used for the treatment and management of diabetes. Scientific research has reported some bioactivities related to traditional roles that include antihyperglycemic and antihyperlipidemic, which could inhibit onset of diabetes. Our aim was twofold: To review the presence of phytochemical compounds in plant extracts and to perform an in-papyro evaluation of their antidiabetic potential. A detailed literature survey was carried out for evaluating metabolic syndrome-related medicinal bioactivities and antidiabetic activity from specific compounds of C. auriculata. We uncovered a wide range of medicinal uses of C. auriculata in Ayurveda and Sri Lankan medicinal traditions and cultures. Many of the compounds in C. auriculata extracts have already been reported for their specific antidiabetic, hypoglycemic, and hypolipidemic activities, which exhibited positive effects on neuro, renal, and liver support. In conclusion, our findings suggested that the phytocomposition of C. auriculata could be attributed to the presence of antidiabetic activity through various mechanisms
