Pore structure and fractal characteristics of Wufeng–Longmaxi formation shale in northern Yunnan–Guizhou, China
In this study, the microscopic pore characteristics of shale in marine strata are evaluated. Based on field emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), low-temperature N2 adsorption (LT-N2GA), low-pressure CO2 adsorption (LP-CO2GA) and high-pressure methane adsorption (HPMA) experiments, the pore characteristics of 12 shales from the Wufeng–Longmaxi Formations in northern Yunnan and Guizhou are characterized qualitatively and quantitatively. Fractal Frenkel–Halsey–Hill (FHH) theory is used to analyse the fractal characteristics, and the adsorption pore characteristics of shale are discussed. The correlation between the fractal dimension and pore structure and adsorption performance is determined. The results show that the total organic carbon (TOC) contents of the 12 shales are in the middle–low level, ranging from 0.43% to 5.42%, and the shales are generally in the highly mature to overmaturity stage (vitrinite reflectance (Ro) values between 1.80% and 2.51%). The mineral composition is mainly quartz and clay minerals. The average clay mineral content is 40.98% (ranging from 24.7% to 63.3%), and the average quartz content is 29.03% (ranging from 16.8% to 39.6%), which are consistent with those of marine shale in the Sichuan Basin. FE-SEM and LT-N2GA isotherms reveal a complex shale pore structure and open pore style, mainly ink bottle-shaped and parallel plate-like pores. The total pore volumes (PVs) range from 0.012–0.052 cm3/g, and the specific surface area (SSA) values range from 18.112–38.466 m2/g. All shale samples have abundant micropores and mesopores, accounting for >90% of the total SSA. The fractal dimensions, D1 and D2, were obtained from N2 adsorption data, with different adsorption characteristics at 0–0.5 and 0.5–1.0 relative pressures. The fractal dimensions increase with increasing BJH PV and BET SSA and decrease with decreasing average pore diameter (APD). The fractal dimensions are positively correlated with the TOC and clay mineral contents and negatively correlated with the quartz content. The fractal dimension can be used to evaluate the methane adsorption capacity; the larger the fractal dimension is, the larger the methane adsorption capacity is. Fractal analysis is helpful to better understand the pore structure and adsorption capacity of shale gas reservoirs

Water-Soluble 3D Covalent Organic Framework that Displays an Enhanced Enrichment Effect of Photosensitizers and Catalysts for the Reduction of Protons to H2.
Covalent organic frameworks (COFs) are emerging porous polymers that have 2D or 3D long-range ordering. Currently available COFs are typically insoluble or decompose upon dissolution, which remarkably restricts their practical implementations. For 3D COFs, the achievement of noninterpenetration, which maximizes their porosity-derived applications, also remains a challenge synthetically. Here, we report the synthesis of the first highly water-soluble 3D COF (sCOF-101) from irreversible polymerization of a preorganized supramolecular organic framework through cucurbit[8]uril (CB[8])-controlled [2 + 2] photodimerization. Synchrotron X-ray scattering and diffraction analyses confirm that sCOF-101 exhibits porosity periodicity, with a channel diameter of 2.3 nm, in both water and the solid state and retains the periodicity under both strongly acidic and basic conditions. As an ordered 3D polymer, sCOF-101 can enrich [Ru(bpy)3]2+ photosensitizers and redox-active polyoxometalates in water, which leads to remarkable increase of their photocatalytic activity for proton reduction to produce H2
Language and Sketching: An LLM-driven Interactive Multimodal Multitask Robot Navigation Framework
The socially-aware navigation system has evolved to adeptly avoid various
obstacles while performing multiple tasks, such as point-to-point navigation,
human-following, and -guiding. However, a prominent gap persists: in
Human-Robot Interaction (HRI), the procedure of communicating commands to
robots demands intricate mathematical formulations. Furthermore, the transition
between tasks does not quite possess the intuitive control and user-centric
interactivity that one would desire. In this work, we propose an LLM-driven
interactive multimodal multitask robot navigation framework, termed LIM2N, to
solve the above new challenge in the navigation field. We achieve this by first
introducing a multimodal interaction framework where language and hand-drawn
inputs can serve as navigation constraints and control objectives. Next, a
reinforcement learning agent is built to handle multiple tasks with the
received information. Crucially, LIM2N creates smooth cooperation among the
reasoning of multimodal input, multitask planning, and adaptation and
processing of the intelligent sensing modules in the complicated system.
Extensive experiments are conducted in both simulation and the real world
demonstrating that LIM2N has superior user needs understanding, alongside an
enhanced interactive experience

Electrospinning of Carboxymethyl Chitosan/Polyoxyethylene Oxide Nanofibers for Fruit Fresh-Keeping
Electrospinning provides an effective method for generating nanofibers from solution of carboxymethyl chitosan/polyoxyethylene oxide (CMCS/PEO). The goal of this work is to explore the potential application of electrospun CMCS/PEO nanofiber membrane in fruit fresh-keeping. The microstructure, antibacterial activity, hydrophilia, and air permeability of the nanofiber membrane have been tested. For comparison, the fresh-keeping effects of commercial cling wrap and CMCS/PEO nanofiber membranes on strawberries’ rotting rate and weight loss rate have been studied. The results indicate that the electrospun CMCS/PEO membrane could effectively avoid water loss in strawberries and has a remarkable effect to prolong strawberries’ shelf life due to its breathability and antibacterial activity. In addition, the composite CMCS/PEO, nanofiber membrane is non-poisonous and edible, which can be used in food industry
Response of Blood Perfusion at ST 36 Acupoint after Drinking Cold Glucose or Saline Injection
Skin blood flux (SkBF) changes caused by drinking cold water are generally associated with vagal tone and osmotic factors in digestive system. According to acupuncture theory, change of SkBF at ST 36 might reflect the functional changes of digestive system. The aim of this study is to analyze the changes of SkBF after drinking 3°C 0.9% saline or 5% glucose injection by monitor blood flux at bilateral ST 36. The results indicated that, after drinking different cold water, the change ratio of SkBF at right side ST 36 has been different. Because all solutions have the same temperature (3°C) and both saline and glucose solution have the same osmolality, suggesting that the SkBF changes resulting from drinking cold water are not regulated just by the vagal tone and osmolality, there must have been other factors. These results have not been consistent with the frequency domain results of heart rate variability (HRV) analysis. Coherence analysis of blood flux signals at bilateral ST 36 indicated that there have been different coherence-frequency curves among different groups in special frequency bands, which suggested that coherence analysis might provide a potential tool to evaluate different status
Spatiotemporal patterns and spatial risk factors for visceral leishmaniasis from 2007 to 2017 in Western and Central China: a modelling analysis
Visceral leishmaniasis (VL) is a neglected disease caused by trypanosomatid protozoa in the genus Leishmania, which is transmitted by phlebotomine sandflies. Although this vector-borne disease has been eliminated in several regions of China during the last century, the reported human VL cases have rebounded in Western and Central China in recent decades. However, understanding of the spatial epidemiology of the disease remains vague, as the spatial risk factors driving the spatial heterogeneity of VL. In this study, we analyzed the spatiotemporal patterns of annual human VL cases in Western and Central China from 2007 to 2017. Based on the related spatial maps, the boosted regression tree (BRT) model was adopted to explore the relationships between VL and spatial correlates as well as predicting both the existing and potential infection risk zones of VL in Western and Central China. The mined links reveal that elevation, minimum temperature, relative humidity, and annual accumulated precipitation make great contributions to the spatial heterogeneity of VL. The maps show that Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, Gansu, western Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Sichuan are predicted to fall in the highest infection risk zones of VL. Approximately 61.60 million resident populations lived in the high-risk regions of VL in Western and Central China. Our results provide a better understanding of how spatial risk factors driving VL spread as well as identifying the potential endemic risk region of VL, thereby enhancing the biosurveillance capacity of public health authorities

Comprehensive Dissection of PDGF-PDGFR Signaling Pathways in PDGFR Genetically Defined Cells
Despite the growing understanding of PDGF signaling, studies of PDGF function have encountered two major obstacles: the functional redundancy of PDGFRα and PDGFRβ in vitro and their distinct roles in vivo. Here we used wild-type mouse embryonic fibroblasts (MEF), MEF null for either PDGFRα, β, or both to dissect PDGF-PDGFR signaling pathways. These four PDGFR genetically defined cells provided us a platform to study the relative contributions of the pathways triggered by the two PDGF receptors. They were treated with PDGF-BB and analyzed for differential gene expression, in vitro proliferation and differential response to pharmacological effects. No genes were differentially expressed in the double null cells, suggesting minimal receptor-independent signaling. Protean differentiation and proliferation pathways are commonly regulated by PDGFRα, PDGFRβ and PDGFRα/β while each receptor is also responsible for regulating unique signaling pathways. Furthermore, some signaling is solely modulated through heterodimeric PDGFRα/β
