Exact results of dynamical structure factor of Lieb-Liniger model

The dynamical structure factor (DSF) represents a measure of dynamical density-density correlations in a quantum many-body system. Due to the complexity of many-body correlations and quantum fluctuations in a system of an infinitely large Hilbert space, such kind of dynamical correlations often impose a big theoretical challenge. For one dimensional (1D) quantum many-body systems, qualitative predictions of dynamical response functions are usually carried out by using the Tomonaga-Luttinger liquid (TLL) theory. In this scenario, a precise evaluation of the DSF for a 1D quantum system with arbitrary interaction strength remains a formidable task. In this paper, we use the form factor approach based on algebraic Bethe ansatz theory to calculate precisely the DSF of Lieb-Liniger model with an arbitrary interaction strength at a large scale of particle number. We find that the DSF for a system as large as 2000 particles enables us to depict precisely its line-shape from which the power-law singularity with corresponding exponents in the vicinities of spectral thresholds naturally emerge. It should be noted that, the advantage of our algorithm promises an access to the threshold behavior of dynamical correlation functions, further confirming the validity of nonlinear TLL theory besides Kitanine et. al. 2012 J. On-chip black hole: Hawking radiation and curved spacetime in a superconducting quantum circuit with tunable couplers

Hawking radiation is one of quantum features of a black hole, which can be understood as a quantum tunneling across the event horizon of the black hole, but it is quite difficult to directly observe the Hawking radiation of an astrophysical black hole. Remarkable experiments of analogue black holes on various platforms have been performed. However, Hawking radiation and its quantum nature such as entanglement have not been well tested due to the experimental challenges in accurately constructing curved spacetime and precisely measuring the thermal spectrum. Based on the recent architecture breakthrough of tunable couplers for superconducting processor, we realize experimentally an analogue black hole using our new developed chip with a chain of 10 superconducting transmon qubits with interactions mediated by 9 transmon-type tunable couplers. By developing efficient techniques to engineer the couplings between qubits via tuning couplers, we realize both the flat and curved spacetime backgrounds. The quantum walks of quasi-particle in the curved spacetime reflect the gravitational effect around the black hole, resulting in the behavior of Hawking radiation. By virtue of the state tomography measurement of all 7 qubits outside the analogue event horizon, we show that Hawking radiation can be verified. In addition, an entangled pair is prepared inside the horizon and the dynamics of entanglement in the curved spacetime is directly measured. Our results would stimulate more interests to explore information paradox, entropy and other related features of black holes using programmable superconducting processor with tunable couplers.Comment: modified manuscripts, 7 pages, 4 figures (main text) + 12 pages (supplementary information

The presentation, pathology, and prognosis of pancreatic neuroendocrine tumors (PNETs) in Asian patients have not been studied in large cohorts. We hypothesized that the clinicopathological features of PNETs of Chinese patients might be different from those of US patients. The objectives of this study were to address whether PNETs in Chinese patients exhibit unique clinicopathological features and natural history, and can be graded and staged using the WHO/ENETS criteria. This is a retrospective review of medical records of patients with PNETs in multiple academic medical centers in China (7) and the United States (2). Tumor grading and staging were based on WHO/ENETS criteria. The clinicopathological features of PNETs of Chinese and US patients were compared. Univariate and multivariate analyses were performed to find associations between survival and patient demographics, tumor grade and stage, and other clinicopathological characteristics. A total of 977 (527 Chinese and 450 US) patients with PNETs were studied. In general, Chinese patients were younger than US patients (median age 46 vs 56 years). In Chinese patients, insulinomas were the most common (52.2%), followed by nonfunctional tumors (39.7%), whereas the order was reversed in US patients. Tumor grade distribution was similar in the 2 countries (G1: 57.5% vs 55.0%; G2: 38.5% vs 41.3%; and G3: 4.0% vs 3.7%). However, age, primary tumor size, primary tumor location, grade, and stage of subtypes of PNETs were significantly different between the 2 countries. The Chinese nonfunctional tumors were significantly larger than US ones (median size 4 vs 3 cm) and more frequently located in the head/neck region (54.9% vs 34.8%). The Chinese and US insulinomas were similar in size (median 1.5 cm) but the Chinese insulinomas relatively more frequently located in the head/neck region (48.3% vs 26.1%). Higher grade, advanced stage, metastasis, and larger primary tumor size were significantly associated with unfavorable survival in both countries. Several clinicopathological differences are found between Chinese and US PNETs but the PNETs of both countries follow a similar natural history. The WHO tumor grading and ENETS staging criteria are applicable to both Chinese and US patients

All-inside arthroscopic procedures for chronic lateral ankle instability: evidence-based clinical practice guidelines.

    Get PDF
All-inside arthroscopic procedures are now frequently employed to manage chronic lateral ankle instability (CLAI) with satisfactory functional outcomes. Currently, no evidence-based guidelines exist for all-inside arthroscopic procedures for CLAI. Many surgical decisions remain uncertain and challenging. Published scientific literature in PubMed, MEDLINE, Web of Science, EMBASE, and Cochrane databases. All-inside arthroscopic repair and reconstruction procedures are reliable treatments for CLAI. The all-inside arthroscopic procedures for CLAI present significant challenges, particularly in the following aspects. Given the lack of guidelines for the all-inside arthroscopic procedures for CLAI, this evidence-based clinical practice guideline provides 11 recommendations to address the controversy. In patients with CLAI undergoing all-inside arthroscopic procedures, comparative studies are urgently needed to establish the optimal timing for weight-bearing, as well as return to work and sports. Robust estimation of bacterial cell count from optical density

    Get PDF
Optical density (OD) is widely used to estimate the density of cells in liquid culture, but cannot be compared between instruments without a standardized calibration protocol and is challenging to relate to actual cell count. We address this with an interlaboratory study comparing three simple, low-cost, and highly accessible OD calibration protocols across 244 laboratories, applied to eight strains of constitutive GFP-expressing E. coli. Based on our results, we recommend calibrating OD to estimated cell count using serial dilution of silica microspheres, which produces highly precise calibration (95.5% of residuals <1.2-fold), is easily assessed for quality control, also assesses instrument effective linear range, and can be combined with fluorescence calibration to obtain units of Molecules of Equivalent Fluorescein (MEFL) per cell, allowing direct comparison and data fusion with flow cytometry measurements: in our study, fluorescence per cell measurements showed only a 1.07-fold mean difference between plate reader and flow cytometry data

Identification and validation of an anoikis-related lncRNA signature to predict prognosis and immune landscape in osteosarcoma

    No full text
BackgroundAnoikis is a specialized form of programmed apoptosis that occurs in two model epithelial cell lines and plays an important role in tumors. However, the prognostic value of anoikis-related lncRNA (ARLncs) in osteosarcoma (OS) has not been reported.MethodsBased on GTEx and TARGET RNA sequencing data, we carried out a thorough bioinformatics analysis. The 27 anoikis-related genes were obtained from the Gene Set Enrichment Analysis (GSEA). Univariate Cox regression and least absolute shrinkage and selection operator (LASSO) analysis were successively used to screen for prognostic-related ARLncs. To create the prognostic signature of ARLncs, we performed multivariate Cox regression analysis. We calculated the risk score based on the risk coefficient, dividing OS patients into high- and low-risk subgroups. Additionally, the relationship between the OS immune microenvironment and risk prognostic models was investigated using function enrichment, including Gene ontology (GO), Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG), single-sample gene set enrichment analysis (ssGSEA), and GSEA analysis. Finally, the potential effective drugs in OS were found by immune checkpoint and drug sensitivity screening.ResultsA prognostic signature consisting of four ARLncs (AC079612.1, MEF2C-AS1, SNHG6, and TBX2-AS1) was constructed. To assess the regulation patterns of anoikis-related lncRNA genes, we created a risk score model. According to a survival analysis, high-risk patients have a poor prognosis as they progress. By using immune functional analysis, the lower-risk group demonstrated the opposite effects compared with the higher-risk group. GO and KEGG analysis showed that the ARLncs pathways and immune-related pathways were enriched. Immune checkpoints and drug sensitivity analysis might be used to determine the better effects of the higher group.ConclusionWe identified a novel prognostic model based on a four-ARLncs signature that might serve as potential prognostic indicators that can be used to predict the prognosis of OS patients, and immunotherapy and drugs that may contribute to improving the overall survival of OS patients and advance our understanding of OS.</jats:sec
