Feedback local optimality principle applied to rocket vertical landing VTVL
Vertical landing is becoming popular in the last fifteen years, a technology known under the acronym VTVL, Vertical Takeoff and Vertical Landing [1,2]. The interest in such landing technology is dictated by possible cost reductions [3,4], that impose spaceshipâs recycling. The rockets are not generally de- signed to perform landing operations, rather their design is aimed at takeoff operations, guaranteeing a very high forward acceleration to gain the velocity needed to escape the gravitational force. In this paper a new control method based on Feedback Local Optimality Principle, named FLOP is applied to the rocket landing problem. The FLOP belongs to a special class of optimal controllers, developed by the mechatronic and vehicle dynamics lab of Sapienza, named Variational Feedback Controllers - VFC, that are part of an ongoing research and are recently applied in different field: nonlinear system [5], marine and terrestrial autonomous vehicles [6,7,8], multi agents interactions and vibration control [9, 10]. The paper is devoted to show the robustness of the nonlinear controlled system, comparing the performances with the LQR, one of the most acknowledged methods in optimal control
Cross-Scale Cost Aggregation for Stereo Matching
Human beings process stereoscopic correspondence across multiple scales.
However, this bio-inspiration is ignored by state-of-the-art cost aggregation
methods for dense stereo correspondence. In this paper, a generic cross-scale
cost aggregation framework is proposed to allow multi-scale interaction in cost
aggregation. We firstly reformulate cost aggregation from a unified
optimization perspective and show that different cost aggregation methods
essentially differ in the choices of similarity kernels. Then, an inter-scale
regularizer is introduced into optimization and solving this new optimization
problem leads to the proposed framework. Since the regularization term is
independent of the similarity kernel, various cost aggregation methods can be
integrated into the proposed general framework. We show that the cross-scale
framework is important as it effectively and efficiently expands
state-of-the-art cost aggregation methods and leads to significant
improvements, when evaluated on Middlebury, KITTI and New Tsukuba datasets.Comment: To Appear in 2013 IEEE Conference on Computer Vision and Pattern

Overexpression of an isoform of AML1 in acute leukemia and its potential role in leukemogenesis
AML1/RUNX1 is a critical transcription factor in hematopoietic cell differentiation and proliferation. From the _AML1_ gene, at least three isoforms, _AML1a_, _AML1b_ and _AML1c_, are produced through alternative splicing. AML1a interferes with the function of AML1b/1c, which are often called AML1. In the current study, we found a higher expression level of _AML1a_ in ALL patients in comparison to the controls. Additionally, AML1a represses transcription from promotor of macrophage-colony simulating factor receptor (M-CSFR) mediated by AML1b, indicating that AML1a antagonized the effect of AML1b. In order to investigate the role of _AML1a_ in hematopoiesis and leukemogenesis _in vivo_, bone marrow mononuclear cells (BMMNCs) from mice were transduced with AML1a and transplanted into lethally irradiated mice, which develop lymphoblastic leukemia after transplantation. Taken together, these results indicate that overexpression of AML1a may be an important contributing factor to leukemogenesis
A Recognition Approach Study on Chinese Field Term Based Mutual Information /Conditional Random Fields
AbstractA new auto-recognition approach based on mutual information/ Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) was put forward in this study. Firstly, statistics-based mutual information algorithm was applied to separate the Chinese words accurately, then the sub-words were picked out from the accurate separation according to the entropy of the left and right information. Secondly, the relative frequency of the sub-words was calculated. Thirdly, three training characteristics, including words, part of speech and relative frequency, were used as training datasets to obtain a model for field terms characters by CRFs. Thirdly, the Chinese words recognition was accomplished by the CRFs model. Finally, a practical experiment was executed and the results showed that the precision, percentage and Fmeasure of the recognition is 78.63%, 87.10% and 82.65% respectively, which is significant better the normal mutual information/ Conditional Random Fields (CRFs) algorithm
Further Development of the Improved QMD Model and its Applications to Fusion Reaction near Barrier
The Improved Quantum Molecular Dynamics model is further developed by
introducing new parameters in interaction potential energy functional based on
Skyrme interaction of SkM and SLy series. The properties of ground states
of selected nuclei can be reproduced very well. The Coulomb barriers for a
series of reaction systems are studied and compared with the results of the
proximity potential. The fusion excitation functions for a series of fusion
reactions are calculated and the results are in good agreement with
experimental data.Comment: 17 pages, 10 figures, PRC accepte
