    TieFake: Title-Text Similarity and Emotion-Aware Fake News Detection

    Fake news detection aims to detect fake news widely spreading on social media platforms, which can negatively influence the public and the government. Many approaches have been developed to exploit relevant information from news images, text, or videos. However, these methods may suffer from the following limitations: (1) ignore the inherent emotional information of the news, which could be beneficial since it contains the subjective intentions of the authors; (2) pay little attention to the relation (similarity) between the title and textual information in news articles, which often use irrelevant title to attract reader' attention. To this end, we propose a novel Title-Text similarity and emotion-aware Fake news detection (TieFake) method by jointly modeling the multi-modal context information and the author sentiment in a unified framework. Specifically, we respectively employ BERT and ResNeSt to learn the representations for text and images, and utilize publisher emotion extractor to capture the author's subjective emotion in the news content. We also propose a scale-dot product attention mechanism to capture the similarity between title features and textual features. Experiments are conducted on two publicly available multi-modal datasets, and the results demonstrate that our proposed method can significantly improve the performance of fake news detection.     A Case-Based Reasoning Framework for Adaptive Prompting in Cross-Domain Text-to-SQL

    Recent advancements in Large Language Models (LLMs), such as Codex, ChatGPT and GPT-4 have significantly impacted the AI community, including Text-to-SQL tasks. Some evaluations and analyses on LLMs show their potential to generate SQL queries but they point out poorly designed prompts (e.g. simplistic construction or random sampling) limit LLMs' performance and may cause unnecessary or irrelevant outputs. To address these issues, we propose CBR-ApSQL, a Case-Based Reasoning (CBR)-based framework combined with GPT-3.5 for precise control over case-relevant and case-irrelevant knowledge in Text-to-SQL tasks. We design adaptive prompts for flexibly adjusting inputs for GPT-3.5, which involves (1) adaptively retrieving cases according to the question intention by de-semantizing the input question, and (2) an adaptive fallback mechanism to ensure the informativeness of the prompt, as well as the relevance between cases and the prompt. In the de-semanticization phase, we designed Semantic Domain Relevance Evaluator(SDRE), combined with Poincar\'e detector(mining implicit semantics in hyperbolic space), TextAlign(discovering explicit matches), and Positector (part-of-speech detector). SDRE semantically and syntactically generates in-context exemplar annotations for the new case. On the three cross-domain datasets, our framework outperforms the state-of-the-art(SOTA) model in execution accuracy by 3.7\%, 2.5\%, and 8.2\%, respectively

    The temporal control mechanisms that precisely control animal development remain largely elusive. The timing of major developmental transitions in insects, including molting and metamorphosis, is coordinated by the steroid hormone 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E). 20E involves feedback loops to maintain pulses of ecdysteroid biosynthesis leading to its upsurge, whereas the underpinning molecular mechanisms are not well understood. Using the silkworm Bombyx mori as a model, we demonstrated that E75, the 20E primary response gene, mediates a regulatory loop between ecdysteroid biosynthesis and 20E signaling. E75 isoforms A and C directly bind to retinoic acid receptor-related response elements in Halloween gene promoter regions to induce gene expression thus promoting ecdysteroid biosynthesis and developmental transition, whereas isoform B antagonizes the transcriptional activity of isoform A/C through physical interaction. As the expression of E75 isoforms is differentially induced by 20E, the E75-mediated regulatory loop represents a fine autoregulation of steroidogenesis, which contributes to the precise control of developmental timing

    Colour Connection and Diquark Fragmentation in e^+e^- \to c \bar c q \bar q \to h's Process

    The hadronization effects induced by different colour connections of ccˉqqˉc\bar{c}q\bar{q} system in e+ee^+e^- annihilation are investigated by a toy model where diquark fragmentation is employed based on Pythia. It is found that the correlations between the charm baryons and charm antibaryons produced via diquark pair fragmentation are much stronger, and their momentum spectra are harder than those from the standard colour connection in Pythia.Comment: 10 pages, 7 figures and 1 table in latex with axodraw.sty, version to appear in PL

    20-Hydroxyecdysone (20E) Primary Response Gene \u3cem\u3eE93\u3c/em\u3e Modulates 20E Signaling to Promote \u3cem\u3eBombyx\u3c/em\u3e Larval-Pupal Metamorphosis

    As revealed in a previous microarray study to identify genes regulated by 20-hydroxyecdysone (20E) and juvenile hormone (JH) in the silkworm, Bombyx mori, E93 expression in the fat body was markedly low prior to the wandering stage but abundant during larval-pupal metamorphosis. Induced by 20E and suppressed by JH, E93 expression follows this developmental profile in multiple silkworm alleles. The reduction of E93 expression by RNAi disrupted 20E signaling and the 20E-induced autophagy, caspase activity, and cell dissociation in the fat body. Reducing E93 expression also decreased the expression of the 20E-induced pupal-specific cuticle protein genes and prevented growth and differentiation of the wing discs. Importantly, the two HTH domains in E93 are critical for inducing the expression of a subset of 20E response genes, including EcR, USP, E74, Br-C, and Atg1. By contrast, the LLQHLL and PLDLSAK motifs in E93 inhibit its transcriptional activity. E93 binds to the EcR-USP complex via a physical association with USP through its LLQHLL motif; and this association is enhanced by 20E-induced EcR-USP interaction, which attenuates the transcriptional activity of E93. E93 acts through the two HTH domains to bind to GAGA-containing motifs present in the Atg1 promoter region for inducing gene expression. In conclusion, E93 transcriptionally modulates 20E signaling to promote Bombyx larval-pupal metamorphosis

    Effects of parenteral nutrition of ω-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid, arginine and glutamine on cellular immune status of patients following liver cancer surgery

    Purpose: To study the effects of parenteral nutrition (TPN), ω-3  polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), Larginine (Arg), and glutamine on cellular immunity of patients who have done the liver cancer (LC) surgery.Methods: Seventy-five (75) LC patients were randomly divided into 5  groups (A - E; 15 cases each), group A, B, C, D and E, in which patients were treated with TPN, TPN + fish oil, TPN + Arg, TPN + glutamine, and TPN + ω-3 PUFA + Arg + glutamine, respectively. Before and after surgery, CD3 +, CD4 + and CD8 + were measured by antibody-sensitized erythrocyte rosette test, and IL-6, IL-10 and TNF-a were assayed with double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunoassay (DAS-ELISA). IgA and IgM were measured nephelometrically.Results: The levels of CD3 +, CD4 + and CD8 + in group A showed no  obvious change after surgery (p > 0.05). However, CD3 + and CD4 +  increased in groups B, C and D, while CD8 + decreased in group E (p < 0.05). IL-6 in group E was lower than that in any of the other four groups (p < 0.05). IL-10 in group A was lower than that in groups B, C and D, but lower than in group E (p < 0.05). The levels of TNF-a in groups B and C were lower than those in group A, but higher than that in group E (p < 0.05) but lower than in group D. IgA in group E was higher than in the other groups (p < 0.05), while IgM level in group E was lower than in groups A, B and C (p < 0.05).Conclusion: Immunosuppressive status and cellular immunity of patients  after liver cancer surgery may be improved by a combination therapy of TPN, ω-3 PUFAs, Arg and glutamine.Keywords: Polyunsaturated fatty acid, Arginine, Glutamine, Parenteral nutrition, Hepatoma, Cellular immunit

    Achieving ultrahigh energy storage density in super relaxor BCZT-based lead-free capacitors through multiphase coexistence

    Dielectric capacitors own great potential in next-generation energy storage devices for their fast charge-discharge time, while low energy storage capacity limits their commercialization. Enormous lead-free ferroelectric ceramic capacitor systems have been reported in recent decades, and energy storage density has increased rapidly. By comparing with some ceramic systems with fashioned materials or techniques, which lacks repeatability, as reported latterly, we proposed a unique but straightforward way to boost the energy storage capacity in a modified conventional ferroelectric system. Through stoichiometric ratio regulation, the coexistence of the C-phase and T-phase was obtained in 0.85(Ba1-xCax)(ZryTi1-y)O3-0.15BiSmO3-2 wt. % MnO ceramics with x = 0.1 and y = 0.15 under the proof of the combination of Rietveld XRD refinement and transmission electron microscope measurement. The Wrec of 3.90 J/cm3, an excellent value for BCZT-based ceramic at the present stage, was obtained because of the co-contribution of the optimization of electric field distribution and the additional interfacial polarization triggered at the higher electric fields. The finite element simulation and physical deduction, which fits very well with our experimental result, were also performed. As to the practical application, stable performance in a long-time cycle and frequency stability was obtained, and excellent discharge behaviors were also achieved.</p
