Zero-automatic queues and product form
We introduce and study a new model: 0-automatic queues. Roughly, 0-automatic
queues are characterized by a special buffering mechanism evolving like a
random walk on some infinite group or monoid. The salient result is that all
stable 0-automatic queues have a product form stationary distribution and a
Poisson output process. When considering the two simplest and extremal cases of
0-automatic queues, we recover the simple M/M/1 queue, and Gelenbe's G-queue
with positive and negative customers
Technical Feasibility of Cultivating Local Seaweed Species in Inland Saline Water of Western Australia
This research investigated the technical feasibility of cultivating local seaweed species from Perth region in potassium-fortified inland saline waters (ISW). Different levels of potassium fortification into the ISW were essential for their culture and out of six seaweed species studied, Ulva lactuca, Lomentaria catenata and two Sargassum spp. could successfully be cultured in 33 to 100% potassium-fortified ISW. Seasonality, nutrient enrichments, pH and temperature were able to influence different seaweed species to different degrees
Advanced Oxidation Process of Methyldiethanolamine in wastewater
Advanced oxidation processes (AOP) are characterised by a common chemical feature : the
capacity of exploiting the highreactivity ofHO radicals in driving oxidation processes which
are suitable for achieving the complete abatement and through mineralization of even less
reactive pollutants.The different AOP are considered accordingly to their real applications for
water pollutions abatement-Memyldiethanolamine (MDEA) is an alkanolamine used in tail
gas treating and hydrogen sulfide enrichment units for selectively removing hydrogen sulfide
from gas streams containing carbon dioxide. Memyldiethanolamine is also used in natural
gas plants for the bulk removal of carbon dioxide.During recycling process,an amount of
MDEA is rejected andbecome waste water.The purpose of this research is to study a suitable
AOP that canapply for waste water contained MDEA treatment.This type of method is called
an AOP using UV light
Essays on dynamics of the housing market : a thesis presented in fulfilment of the requirement for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Finance at Massey University, Albany, New Zealand
Listed in 2021 Dean's List of Exceptional ThesesAs the largest proportion of a household’s wealth is invested in houses, a household’s saving and consumption is highly likely to be affected by the movement of housing markets. Economists are also very interested in housing price movements, due to its significant impact on general economic wellbeing and business cycles. The US housing collapse is commonly referred to as the trigger of the global financial crisis (GFC), leading to stronger demand from both the public and policymakers for in-depth analysis of housing markets. This thesis provides three empirical studies that aim to explore the dynamics of housing markets.
The first essay analyses the relationship between immigration and housing markets with a focus on the regional differences within a country. Among the three housing market indicators studied (prices, rents, and price-to-rent ratios), the impact of immigration is found to be most strongly associated with rents and most weakly associated with prices. A negative relationship is reported between immigration and price-to-rent ratios, implying that in an overvalued housing market, the extent of deviation from equilibrium would have been even greater without immigration.
Increased global financial integration as a result of improvements in the specification of trade, innovations in finance, and advances in information technology has led to increased connectedness between financial markets. Against this backdrop, the second essay measures the equicorrelation and connectedness between housing and oil markets. The results provide robust evidence of the existence of strong connectedness between these markets. The results also indicate that the connectedness is time variant, reaching its peak during the financial crisis. Among the studied markets, the US housing market is found to be the dominant shock transmitter, spreading shocks to the other markets. During the GFC period, the oil market operated as an information transmission mediator, conveying shocks from the US housing market to other OECD housing markets, particularly in the net oil importing OECD countries.
The third essay focuses on whether capital gain in housing markets smooths consumption. The results indicate that the appreciation of house prices is an effective channel of risk sharing. Furthermore, the analysis of the consumption response to long-run output shocks in three developed countries (Australia, Canada, and New Zealand) provides evidence that Canadian residents are the most sensitive to permanent domestic output shocks and that the consumption patterns of Australian residents remain unchanged

Nevertheless, upon closer examination, it becomes evident that this impact transcends mere financial considerations, involving the intersection of preparing for the labor market and the higher education mission of imparting knowledge and nurturing intellect. In this context, careful and nuanced considerations in approaching political theory education become paramount, aiming ultimately to cultivate citizens with profound understanding, critical thinking skills, and readiness to engage in societal development and construction. 
Survey on heavy metals contaminated soils in Thai Nguyen and Hung Yen provinces in Northern Vietnam: Research Article
In Vietnam, soil contamination with lead and cadmium at very high level was investigated anddiscovered in the surrounding areas of zinc-lead mining and processing factory in Tan Long (Dong Hy district, Thai Nguyen province) and around the lead-recycling smelter in Chi Dao (Van Lam district, Hung Yen province). The survey on soil contaminated by arsenic due to the tin mining and sifting activities in Ha Thuong (Dai Tu district, Thai Nguyen province) was also carried out. In Tan Long, the concentrations of lead and cadmium in the old solid waste dump from zinc-lead factory varied from 1,100 to 13,000 mg·kg-1, and from 11.34 to 61.04 mg·kg-1, respectively. Soil Pollution Indexes (SPI) of lead and cadmium were highest in the old solid waste dump area, followed by the ones in the rice paddy soils. In Chi Dao, the soils of many sites were polluted with lead and cadmium such as in the gardens of lead-recycling households where the concentrations of lead and cadmium were 7,000 - 15,000 mg·kg-1 and 1.8 - 3.6 mg·kg-1. In rice paddies, the soils were also polluted by lead. SPI of lead in paddy soil areas within 300 m radius from the lead smelter were from 3.6 to 100 fold higher than the safe limit. The sediment from the ditch near the lead smelters contained extremely high levels of lead (7,000 - 110,000 mg·kg-1) and cadmium (3.8 - 17.7 mg·kg-1). The tin mining and sifting activities in Ha Thuong was the cause for the arsenic contamination of the soil in this area. The arsenic contents in soils at all locations investigated were higher than 320 mg·kg-1 (dry weight) and up to 3,809 mg·kg-1.Tại Việt Nam, đất bị ô nhiễm bởi chì và ca-đi-mi với hàm lượng cao đã được điều tra phát hiện ở các khu vực phụ cận của nhà máy khai thác và chế biến kẽm/chì thuộc địa phận xã Tân Long, huyện Đồng Hỷ, tỉnh Thái Nguyên và các khu vực phụ cận của lò tái chế chì thuộc địa phận xã Chỉ Đạo, huyện Văn Lâm, tỉnh Hưng Yên. Sự khảo sát đất bị ô nhiễm bởi a-sen do các hoạt động khai thác và tuyển thiếc ở xã Hà Thượng, huyện Đại Từ, tỉnh Thái Nguyên cũng đã được tiến hành. Tại xã Tân Long, nồng độ chì và ca-đi-mi trong bãi chất thải rắn cũ từ nhà máy sản xuất kẽm chì là 1.100 - 1.300 mg.kg-1 và từ 11,34 đến 61,04 mg.kg-1, tương ứng. Chỉ số ô nhiễm đất (SPI) của chì và ca-đi-mi cao nhất trong khu vực đổ chất thải rắn cũ, tiếp theo sau là ở các ruộng lúa. Tại xã Chỉ Đạo, đất ở nhiều địa điểm đã bị ô nhiễm chì và ca-đi-mi chẳng hạn như trong khu vườn của các hộ gia đình tái chế chì, nồng độ chì và ca-đi-mi là 7.000 - 15.000 mg.kg-1 và 1,8 - 3,6 mg.kg-1. Trong cánh đồng lúa, đất cũng bị ô nhiễm bởi chì. Chỉ số ô nhiễm đất của chì (SPI-Pb) trong cánh đồng lúa trong vòng bán kính 300 m từ lò tái chế chì cao hơn giới hạn của đất an toàn từ 3,6 đến 100 lần. Trầm tích thu từ kênh gần lò tái chế chì chứa hàm lượng chì rất cao (.7000 - 110.000 mg.kg-1) và ca-đi-mi (3,8 - 17,7 mg.kg-1). Việc khai thác và tuyển thiếc tại xã Hà Thượng đã gây ra ô nhiễm a-sen trong đất tại khu vực này. Hàm lượng a-sen trong đất tại tất cả các địa điểm nghiên cứu cao hơn 320 mg.kg-1 (trọng lượng khô), đặc biệt là lên đến 3809 mg.kg-1
